After a week of perfect blue skies, no rain, temps in high 30’s it’s time to bid farewell to Fiji.
There was one night when the clouds rolled in on sunset and delivered this shower out to sea, and it was so calming to watch, nothing like being out in the elements, such a wonderful feeling. This other sole soul sharing the same part of the beach wandered into frame just at the right time to give the image some sense of scale.
Farewell for now Fiji, we will be leaving you in the morning, and it won’t take another 20 years before we are back again this time. Bula vinaka wonderful friendly Islands and people🍹️😎☀️🏊♂️
I saw this swallowtail zigzagging around and wanted to take a shot of it in-flight. But it was just too damn fast for me. It finally rested on top of a flower. I moved around and found this angle with a perfect pose.
this looks angrier than the other one. i had no other photo to post to mark the death of one of my favorite comedians gary shandling.
this can look even funny next to the other.
"its the gary shandling show" & "the larry sanders show" were the best comedies on television ever!
They are perfect for each other and although their movements may be a bit stiff they are heart felt. lol.

I love to photograph the sunrise almost as much as I love to photograph moose, so when you come upone a scene like this and have the two combined....well, I call that a perfect morning. Have a fabulous day!!!
Finally, the winter came. The first day of new year was just perfect - frosty, bright and snowy. Nature's simple pleasures are wonderful!

The view from the terrace at House of Dun - from where you can see over the Montrose Basin to the Angus hills beyond. This Georgian mansion, now owned by the National Trust for Scotland, was designed by William Adam and built in 1743. I love its walled garden and woodland walks - which are perfect for seeing carpets of snowdrops and then bluebells through the seasons,
An exquisite seed pod of a cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana).
Found 4 of them hiding in the grass and was rather stoked as I'd assumed the birds had eaten them. Even though the pods were skeletonising, the fruit inside was absolutely delicious.
Tomorrow marks my 1st Flickr anniversary, and I won't be here. What fun it has been, what wonderful people I have met here, and what great photos I have seen.
A perfect perch for one little male Pine Siskin to rest on in an otherwise snow covered environment.
Did you know that Pine Siskins get through cold nights by ramping up their metabolic rates typically 40% higher than a “normal” songbird of their size? When temperatures plunge as low as –70°C (–94°F), they can accelerate that rate up to five times normal for several hours. They also put on half again as much winter fat as their relatives, the Common Redpoll and American Goldfinch.
