A real grab shot as the squirrel had a quick rummage in the Contorted Hazel tree just outside from the patio doors . He/She was in there amongst the twisted branches , leaves and of course the hazel nuts just getting to the tasty stage . Then I could see the little character peeping out from inside the tree and just two shots taken ( this was the first ) before it was gone . Been back since mind you !!

A Missouri-Kansas-Texas freight train leaves behind its namesake city, on the outskirts of Katy, Texas. The tracks were constructed here in 1895, and the former town of Cane Island was renamed "Katy" to honor the new railroad, helping settle the community in a remote area 30 miles west of Houston.
Mr. Harrop collected a series of four Kodachrome slides of this same train, all captured near Katy. This was the last in a series, as MKT 221 approaches Peek Road overpass east of town. On the left is Interstate 10, a six lane freeway that replaced US Hwy. 90.
Union Pacific merged with the MKT in 1988 and by 1998, the Texas Department of Transportation purchased the UP right of way from Katy Ford Bend Road to Houston. Nearly 30 miles of main track were dismantled in order to develop the property and widen parallel I-10. This location is the "end of the line" today. Industrial parks and other businesses populate green space now. The overpass is gone.
Union Pacific local freights continue to serve Katy from the west end of the former M-K-T main line.

Mealy Bug or Woolly Aphid exposing it self. I walked the path that goes through the woods looking for anything that moved. I saw this little cotton ball moving on a leaf. I was curious, so I took a few pics. My backyard. Central Bucks, PA.
We were aware for several years that these gorgeous squirrels were in our local woods.
We had one fleeting glimpse last year, but to all intents and purposes they had proved extremely elusive.
What a pleasure it was therefore to spot two of them, who played peek-a-boo with me for about 20 minutes.

it was a ranunculus lineup today. they're all getting so long and lanky and soon they will be done blooming. *sigh*
One of 3 hanging around the feeders this morning (curiously all at the same time as they usually chase each other off) - taken through the kitchen bay window
But not Peking Duck! Ha ha... my feeble attempt at a play on words. I took this photo at Glen Burnie Gardens in Winchester Virginia, and the duck could easily have gone under this little bridge, it did not but rather looked very much like it was playing a game of "I Spy". A rainy day here in Virginia so a good one for staying in and just resting. Hope everyone has a blessed Sabbath day. :)
