A coastal resiliency project, funded by the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, aims to reduce shoreline erosion on a tidal marsh area located on the west side of the Verrazano Bridge, adjacent to the park’s boat ramp and fishing pier.
The project seeks to construct a series of 10 headland structures to dissipate wave energy created during large coastal storm events. The nature-based structures will consist of boulders, cobble and clean sand, which will then be planted with native wetland vegetation.

Am 28. und 29. Juni 2014 lud der Nikolaiviertel e.V. zum 1. Berliner Bücherfestival in das Nikolaiviertel ein. Bereits bei der Premiere freuten sich die Besucher über ein vielseitiges Programm: Autorenlesungen, Prominentenlesungen, Literaturbühne, Büchermarkt, Kunsthandwerk, 17 Literaturkategorien, Kinderprogramm u.v.m. Die über 70 Lesungen und Veranstaltungen waren größtenteils ausgebucht und teilweise überbucht. Als Veranstalter waren der Nikolaiviertel e.V. und der Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Landesverband Berlin-Brandenburg mit der Resonanz sehr zufrieden: „Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen. Das Thema Buch wurde gut angenommen und das Viertel war sehr gut besucht“, freut sich Martina Sprockhoff, 1. Vorsitzende des Nikolaiviertel e.V. Idee, Konzept und Name für die Neuauflage des Bücherfestes stammen im Übrigen von uns und dem Nikolaiviertel e.V.
On 28 and 29 June 2014, the Nikolaiviertel e.V. invited to the 1st Berlin Book Festival in the Nikolaiviertel. The visitors were delighted to find a versatile program at the premiere: author readings, celebrity readings, literary stage, book market, crafts, 17 literature categories, children's program and much more. The over 70 readings and events were mostly fully booked and partially overbooked. The organizer Nikolaiviertel e.V. and Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Landesverband Berlin-Brandenburg were very pleased with the festival: "Our expectations were exceeded. The topic book was well received and the quarter was very well attended" said Martina Sprockhoff, 1st Chairman of the Nikolaiviertel e.V. Idea, concept and name for the new version of the book festival originate in us and the Nikolaiviertel. e.V.

The building was built as offices and factory by Thomas Royse Lysaght, for his brother John Lysaght of John Lysaght and Co. with the buildings being completed by R Milverton Drake. The site was previously owned by Acraman and Company and was involved in the manufacture of corrugated-iron and pre-fabricated buildings, which were exported around the world and particular to settlers in Australia. By 1878 the facttory employed 400 men and produced 1000 tons of galvanised iron sheet a month. The company also diversified into making constructional ironwork, exported around the world from Bristol.
The building is now home to the head office of renewable energy consultancy GL Garrad Hassan.
It is an example of the Bristol Byzantine style and various of the buildings have Grade II listed building status.
The company offices are Grade II* listed. The offices were built in a Gothic style with a domed atrium decorated with golden Doulton tiles. The offices have wood paneling and throughout the building are elaborate decorations.

Caldwell (author of Intelligent Influence: The 4 Steps of Highly Successful Leaders and Organizations).
