Taken on the night of the river lighting. Working 2 part-time jobs with full-time hours has really set me behind on editing and uploading photos, not to mention sleeping. Now that I've had a chance to even the schedule out, I've had some time to work on my photos. So expect some late Christmas shots and other various photos from the past 3 months.
On Thursday, August 27, Stevenson University’s Office of Career services held a Part-time Job Fair. During the fair, students were able to network with a diverse group of local employers and Stevenson faculty and staff to learn about a variety of job opportunities.
I know I know, I've been terribly inactive, got myself a part time job you see guys, just adjusting to it and trying to balance my time :)
In the meantime, here is a photo of Sam, not too happy with having a feather boa put on his head...

아르바이트 면접...결국은 타리즈에서 일하게 되는걸까^^;;;; アルバイトの面接に来ました！結局、またタリーズで働くことになるのかなぁー having interview for part time job.
well, whoo. where to start on this one? hmmm...
growing up, i had a fairly common childhood. nothing too extraordinary. i didn't suffer much. i had a few strange things happen, but honestly, nothing much more than drama. we didn't have medical scares and lots of other crap like that. i have never really learned how to deal in an emergency situation, as a result.
when i turned 18, my life changed completely. i became pregnant, married over spring break, graduated, bought a house and had a baby. three and a half years later that baby was diagnosed with an incurable disease. that was my first big emergency. second one came a year or so later when his little sister, only a year and a half old decided to poison herself and nearly die. a year after that, my father was covered in 3rd degree burns. a few other "minor" crisis' and here we are at today.
my husband is intelligent. he's also quite talented. he has worked very hard for everything he has. he is a good person. but i'll be damned if anything comes easy for him. he has never really had a hard job, but has always managed to work for the real assholes out there. or, as my mother refers to them, "sand paper of life". the ones that supposedly smooth out your rough spots by forcing you to be a better person. my mother is a very unlucky soul, unfortunately and has adopted many ideas to help her exist in such an unfair life (trust me, she's been through hell)...
well, about 6 months ago, my husband finally caught a break. he got a great work from home job making more money than ever before. we had all kinds of freedom. (and for the record, in 7 years, i've only had a couple of part time jobs, as i've opted to be a stay at home mom). it's been really wonderful. he decided to try and get another job about a month or so back and was in the process of trying to set up interviews and such when he got an email from his boss telling him to call him.
yeah. he got fired today.
so, fortuna has opted to spin her wheel today. and this is the fate landed on for us. the reality of it? we have a mortgage, a car payment, car insurance, a child that MUST have medical care and about $20,000 worth of debt that begs our attention each month.
we'll be okay, right? we have to be. we have no choice.

Elmer’s Aunty
Elmer’s Aunty is the Elderly (but rather chic) aunt of the much loved book children’s book character Elmer. She is full of colour and is painted with designs taken from fabric swatches, in a patchwork style. She is inspired by the recent trend for using a patchwork upholstery fabrics to up cycle furniture and by the beautiful fabric swatches that we use in my part time job at an interior designers.

A questionnaire for foreign students studying in Mie prefecture showed up in my pigeon hole yesterday. In the section about part time jobs, I found this little beauty.
Ah yes, Clam School - where little baby clams study hard so that they can get into a good university. I want a job there!
Sorry for the crappy picture today, ive not exactly left the house. Ive had a pulsing headache all day & ive felt completely exhausted ever since i woke up... all this with a hell of a lot more revision for tomorrows exam is not a good mix...stress central.
That along with Final Cut Express being & complete & utter annoyance when trying to do the most mundane of tasks, trying to make this timelapse. Then youtube completely f**k it up as well, im not sure if its for everyone but the start which is supposed to be pure black infact looks light grey (?!?!??!)
Then there was the email exchange i had with the ONE supplier in the UK i could find for replacement hot shoes i need ASAP. The emails i got back were one sentence answers like "we dont accept paypal" or "that would cost £11"... only at the end of the day & numerous emails later did they decide to tell me the item i wanted was out of stock... idiots!!
All this on top of numerous people ignoring me, the headache, tiredness & masses of revision for an exam tomorrow which could be the difference between me getting a crappy part time job & retaking exams or me going to university & starting to build some sort of future for myself.

Haha, you have no idea how hard it was for me to refrain from swearing in this post, i cant wait until Saturday when i shall finally be free for the summer. & yes, i will be getting insanely drunk for the first time in months. Haha, i love being a careless teen sometimes :D

Rachel's description of how this came to pass: A few weeks ago, while Levi and I were standing in line at the neighborhood boulangerie, he asked about the job posts taped to poles and bulletin boards from house cleaners, piano teachers, English tutors, painters, etc. I said they were help wanted ads (and of course growing up post-Craigslist he had no clue what these are). He asked about how I got my job--I said not through a wall post, and we talked about why some people look for work that way.
He looked at the posts, we translated them and discovered a lot from "very hardworking Polish/Tunisian single mother/Nigerian PhD horticulturist can do rooftop landscaping/three children at home/college student needs part-time job" type of messaging. I said a lot of new immigrants get jobs this way and it's important to give them opportunities (like the housekeeper we have from the Philippines, who is awesome). And I said some people who weren't born in a specific country can't get official jobs due to work restrictions on immigrants.
A few days ago Stephen and I discovered this artwork. Amazing and slightly scary how and what kids pick up. We didn't even discuss this in the context of poverty but clearly I imparted much more than I thought. Gulp. I Have Done This Projects an a Part Time Job for
a Construction Company Which is Target Construction
When I was in high school - oh so many years ago - I used to take the bus and subway from Markham downtown, and come to spend the money I had earned at my part time job in this building. Back then, though, this was known as "Gameway's Ark" - one of the very first dedicated game stores in Toronto.
In those days, this entire building was one huge game store. The bottom floor was filled with board games of all kinds. The second floor was filled with role playing games of various kinds. And the upper floor was filled with Star Trek memorabilia, geeky accessories of numerous kinds - and a replica of the bridge from the original Star Trek series.
Every other Saturday, we would come here and drop a substantial amount of cash at this store. Dungeons and Dragons was a couple of years old at that point, and the entire second floor was filled with every accessory, book, adventure module, and miniature that you could buy for the hobby. And I spent SO much money here.
