Tom Schandy from Norway has been interested in birds since he was a small boy. 12 years old he had his own bird-column in the local newspaper, and soon he started to illustrate his bird articles with own pictures. He studied biology at the University of Oslo and made his master on the lekking behaviour of the Great Snipe, and he financed his studies by selling pictures of birds and other creatures.
After finishing his studies he got a part-time job in WWF Norway, first as a conservation officer, later as an information officer. Rest of the time he worked as a freelance wildlife photographer and author. I 2000 he became full time author and professional wildlife photographer – and has never looked back. Now he searches the globe for nature – in order to write articles and make books. So far he has been involved in more than 20 books, mainly on natural history. Many books are local nature books, but he also made a book about Africa which has been published in both Norwegian, Swedish, English and Spanish (The magnificent Africa).
The last few years he has been concentrating on Latin-Americas wildernesses, and just now he is moving his attention to the northern wildernesses of the world, like Alaska, Canada. Spitsbergen and Russia.
The aspect of nature conservation forms a vital part of Tom Schandys photography. If his photos, books and articles on nature and wildlife can be used to promote the enjoyment of nature and inspire nature conservation and biological diversity, then much of the purpose has been achieved!
Last night, my parked car was involved in a hit and run accident. Somebody traveling on the wrong side of the road hit the front driver's side bumper. This accident pushed one of my wheels up over the curb and wedged my bumper underneath my friend's car, who was parked behind me. The force was so strong it knocked off the cover from my glove compartment and almost ejected the cassette adapter from my stereo. My car still runs but the alignment is totally messed up; I think the frame is bent. I may need to get a new car even though I only have a part time job.

A non-face shot for today. It's ok, not my favorite... I hate using a lot of textures, kind of feels like I'm trying to cover up something that's bad (which i was in a way... that button would NOT fit in color-wise) but ho-hum pigs bum.

I have a list of people i must make hats for so i should get on it (this is what happens when you post photos of your hats online... your friends see it and they all want one. sighhhdkfngdlk)

Boiled green peas, spiced and topped with grated coconut and raw mango (Sundal in tamil), the age old snack you would'nt miss on Marina Beach,Chennai. The snack is usually sold by young boys who sometimes do it as a part time job, when they are not at school.
With high gasoline prices, my mother is having a hard time making ends meet, so she took a part time job as a alligator manicurist.
It's a pretty dangerous job. First she has to lasso the gator and pull it to shore (no small job in itself, especially considering her age). Then she has to subdue the gator, which is really the most dangerous part. Not wanting to hurt the animal, she wrestles it, sometimes for over an hour, just to wear it out. After the gator has lost all will to fight, she flips it over and begins the arduous task of trimming the nails.
Here, she's almost finished. It takes the gator about 20 minutes to fully regain it's energy before it's able to return to the water, none the worse for wear.
I never quite thought this one would make it to the Explore front page but there it was! Bam!

I'm always trying to keep up with time and respond back to your nice comments in a righteous manner, but two businesses and a part time job in a camerastore (dream come true) sure does eat up some spare time of mine, so bear with me please... ;)

The nominees in both the employee and employer categories were honored at a breakfast ceremony April 19 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

TANF is a time-limited program, and work-mandatory clients can receive TANF benefits for a maximum of 36 total months in their lifetimes. To get a monthly TANF benefit, most clients must work or participate in work-related activities for 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on the number of parents in the household and the age of their children.
In Fiscal Year 2016, employment and training vendors served 1,704 clients in Delaware, with 329 clients earning full-time jobs and 408 earning part-time jobs.

Biography:
i love color. i used to match my outfits in high school down to my shoe laces. i love capturing the vibrant colors found in nature, found in stage lighting, found in man made things. "lipshitz" was a project in collaboration with a creative spirit to showcase color and texture. "nai" is a music portrait i created while i was photographing one of my favorite bands, hiatus kaiyote.
loving color so much, i find it a challenge to present ideas in black and white. "good morning" was a very intimate moment of someone very dear to me. i tried different color filters, but none quite fit the mood like traditional black and white.
photography is an extension of me. it’s something that surrounded me as a child and something i never thought I could do, as a real profession. i still wake up everyday and think to myself "wow, this is what i DO for a living." it's so magical, being able to capture a moment in time, forever. i love looking back at old images and remembering how i felt. to me, photographs are feelings you are able to see.
CCSF Photography and You:
i began taking classes in 2009, a few months after my father passed away. that year, in addition to losing one of the most important people in my life, i was assaulted (while out photographing), and let go of my part time job. my life was in shambles. i was shooting part time and earning money for a couple of years, but knew i needed to take things to the next level. photography was the only thing i had left.
i enrolled in classes at CCSF in fall 2009 and for the first time in months, felt like i had a purpose again. my purpose was to make more images and to become a better photographer. it was the only reason i got out of bed on many, many days. learning about my newly chosen full-time career was an escape from my everyday reality.
i challenged myself by taking classes in subjects i had never touched, like studio photography. i struggled through the assignments but the professors were always supportive. one of the most difficult courses was self-portraiture, offered in the summer. it made us really observe ourselves, our feelings, and how we move in the world around us. i also loved the lecture series which featured real life photographers in different fields.
CCSF helped to ease my transition into photography as a full time career during the hardest year of my life. i'm thankful and forever grateful for all the experiences and great people i met along the way.
I've juz returned to London after a tiring journey. =[

Eileen Syrop has worked tirelessly over the past four years to build community and herself. It's hard to know where to begin. She was elected Class President both freshman and sophomore year, bringing together students and making them proud to hail from Hayward. As a junior and senior, Eileen founded the organization Bay Creatives: a monthly meet-up hosted at different venues throughout the Bay Area where young artists would come out in droves.
The Bay Creatives anniversary event took place in Oakland, featured eight hours of live music, and had a peak attendance of 400 people. As a musician, Eileen has self-released two EP's and multiple singles, garnering over 100K plays on Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud. She's hosted and performed at shows as far north as Vallejo and as far south as Los Angeles.
As an artist, Eileen has studied in San Francisco for two summers and self-released Nasi Magazine, a publication that showcases/celebrates women, people of color, and queer artists. From running track to earning a black belt in karate and medaling nationally, Eileen has also been an active athlete. Somehow, my sister has managed to accomplish all of above while balancing a part-time job and a full course loads of AP classes. Eileen is headed to UC Berkeley in the fall, where she'll be studying cognitive science and sociology.
She has no idea I'm submitting her story. I'm just an incredibly proud brother who believes her endeavors strengthen what it means to come from Hayward. In addition to her accomplishments, Eileen is an incredibly empathetic and kind human being, and I genuinely believe Hayward, the Bay Area, and the world would be at a loss without her.
The City of Hayward honored recipients of its first Youth Achievement Hall of Fame awards, recognizing accomplishment in academics, the arts, athletics, community service, innovation and leadership, and for heroism.
Established earlier this year by the City Council, the Hayward Youth Achievement Hall of Fame is open to young people ages 5 to 19 years old, who can be nominated by any parent or other family member, teacher, coach, mentor, youth leader, neighbor, friend or other sponsoring adult. Nominees must live in or attend school in Hayward. Nomination profiles of the 2017 Youth Hall of Fame inductees can be found here.
The deadline for nominations each new calendar year is July 31. Nominations are accepted in seven categories—academics, arts, athletics, community service, heroism, innovation and leadership. Award selections are made by a three-member ad hoc Youth Hall of Fame committee of the City Council.

Sun Tao, was born in 1962 at Wuhan City. Sun is currently the vice president of the Disabled of Literary and Artistic Association in Wuhan City, member of Hubei Province Calligraphers Association, Teaching professor at the Tongji Medical College and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
At the age of 5, he had an electrocution accident that caused his right armed had to be amputated. Faced with the different and strange vision from others, Sun Tao was determined to acheive with only one arm and will not fall behind from normal persons. During Primary School, he got part time jobs to help his family ease their burden and his calligraphy studies.
At the age of 10, his passion and high achievements in academic studies with his love of literature lead to the recommendation to the famous calligrapher Chen Yi to learn calligraphy. Chen Yi said to Sun: "Your talents are very high, as long as you practice and be diligent, you will surpass others!"
Sun Tao with his left hand made it difficult to write calligraphy straight like others, if others write once, Sun will write more than 10 times and practice at least 5 hours everyday. To practice his determination and will, Sun practiced in red hot summer and used every single piece of paper to practice, including newspapers and tissues. On the road to seek further developments in calligraphy, Sun went to Beijing, Sichun to visit famous calligraphers.
God is fair and rewarded Sun Tao with many awards and nationwide achievements. His work entered numerous exhibitions in China and won many national awards. Many of his works have been collected by Worldwide collections such as <>, <> etc and also collected by artists all over the world from America, Britain, Germany etc.
Facing with those achievements, Sun Tao is very humble and said "My achievements cannot depart from the society and I will do my best to assist the society in return." He led calligraphy art work during Wuhan floods in 1998 in order to encourage the soldiers working at the frontline against floods. He also held donations for the Wuhan Flood and volunteered for the orphanage association and helped lots of people in the disability association.

The Governor’s Welfare Employment Committee announced the winners of its 2017 TANF Employment Awards of Excellence as it recognized 39 employers in Delaware who hire, train and maintain positive working relationships with employees who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits, and 47 TANF clients who have succeeded in the workplace despite the challenges they have faced.
The nominees in both the employee and employer categories were honored at a breakfast ceremony April 19 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

The event was hosted by the Governor’s Welfare Employment Committee, the Department of Health and Social Services, the Department of Labor, the Delaware Economic Development Office, and DART. All nominees were invited to the ceremony.
“We all have an attachment to work and to the dignity that comes with a job,” DHSS Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker said. “The working parents we honored found jobs through our TANF program, and they are raising their families, demonstrating initiative and excelling in their workplaces. That path to self-sufficiency was borne out of perseverance. That is a powerful message of success, and I’m so proud of the work we’re doing together.”
“The TANF program is yet another valuable resource the State of Delaware is making available to some of our most deserving residents,” said Labor Secretary Dr. Patrice Gilliam-Johnson. “We are pleased to be recognizing those employers who help make these opportunities a reality and the employees who continue to serve as stellar examples of the program’s success.”
A total of 47 employees – 19 from New Castle County, 16 from Sussex County and 12 from Kent County – were nominated, along with 39 employers. The employers nominated were:

In Fiscal Year 2016, the Department of Health and Social Services had 4,976 TANF cases, serving 8,245 children, plus their parents. The average TANF household grant was $266 per month. TANF is a time-limited program, and work-mandatory clients can receive TANF benefits for a maximum of 36 total months in their lifetimes. To get a monthly TANF benefit, most clients must work or participate in work-related activities for 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on the number of parents in the household and the age of their children.
In Fiscal Year 2016, employment and training vendors served 1,704 clients in Delaware, with 329 clients earning full-time jobs and 408 earning part-time jobs.

Her husband works part-time jobs in construction and they have a three-year-old daughter. Rufaro says she would want her daughter to marry at the age of 25. “By that time, she’ll be learned and will be able to get a good and sustainable job. She’ll never have to beg her husband for money because she’ll be able to work for herself. Her husband will value her, and she will be a respected member of the family. When you have nothing, people regard you as nothing. I don’t want her to live like that.”

Gordon Doniger, younger brother of Joe, the well known Kirra performer, is probably one of the youngest surf club members in the State, his age being 13. Young Doniger, although yet too young to secure his surf awards, has demonstrated on numerous occasions his capabilities in the surf, and in the opening junior surf handicap of the present season in Kirra. In November last, won from the scratch mark in fine style. On the top of the waves Gordon is already looked upon as an expert, being capable of handling the "big stuff" with the best of them. In the new pastime of surfo-planing he is one of the most proficient performers, his recent displays, particularly on Sunday last, being brilliant. Young Doniger is as keen as mustard in his surf work, and is looked upon as a formidable contender for the Birdsail Cup, which will be decided next month.

For five decades, the humble surfoplane was a comforting part of the Australian summer - an ingenious but simple device that helped generations of grommets grow confident enough in the waves to become surfers or surf-lifesavers.
But, says John Ruffels, a Bondi postman and amateur historian, the dramatic story of the surfoplane's inventor, Ernest Smithers, a Bondi doctor, has been largely forgotten.
Next week, Ruffels will give an illustrated talk on the surfoplane and the eccentric physician who devised it.
He stumbled on Smithers's story on his postal round when he delivered a letter to Dawn Ping, the widow of Dr Aubrey Ping, one of the early "test pilots" of the surfoplane, an inflatable floatation device made of rubber, which Smithers first demonstrated on Bondi Beach in 1933.
What surprised Ruffels was the range of the doctor's ingenuity. "He also invented the true-slice breadknife, the stainless steel steak tenderiser and the Capsulex contraceptive gel," Ruffels says. "They were an odd mix but, like the surfoplane, they were all designed to give people confidence."
Ruffels says Smithers began his working life as a court stenographer before deciding to study for the leaving certificate at night school. He studied medicine at the University of Sydney before falling out with the authorities. Despite being married, with two young children, he set off to Scotland to complete his studies before returning to Australia.
Short of cash, he took a part-time job at Palm Beach, where he bought, repaired and sold yachts. There he encountered canvas floatation devices that were used to keep the yachts afloat while they were being repaired.
"He used the floatation devices to get ashore," Ruffels says. "On another occasion, he had a go on one of those huge surfboards, which had just come into fashion in the 1920s, unwieldy things made of redwood or balsa."
By combining the two concepts, Smithers came up with the idea of a much shorter, more manageable inflatable device that could be used easily in the surf. However, it took eight years, and many different prototypes, before he was ready to launch the final, four-tube surfoplane in 1933.
His hero, the aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, proved a critical backer when Smithers was trying to persuade councils to allow him to hire out surfoplanes on beaches in Sydney.
By February 1934 the first official surfoplane race had been held at Coogee Beach, and soon the device was a popular feature of beach holidays in many countries, including Britain, South Africa and New Zealand.
The surfoplane remained popular until the 1970s, and many emerging surfers, including Nat Young, Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew and Tom Carroll, learnt their surfing skills on one before progressing to a surfboard.
In the 1950s Smithers's design was refined by North Australian Rubber Mills, which introduced a model with handles.
Smithers made little money from his inventions, however.
"He was a bit of a hippie," Ruffels says. "He would invent all this wonderful stuff then sell the rights for very little."
Smithers died in 1976, about the time manufacture of the surfoplane ended, but in 2001 three Newcastle businessmen bought the rights and began manufacturing new, highly coloured versions.
However, the day the surfoplane came of age was February 6, 1938 - the infamous Black Sunday, when five people drowned at Bondi Beach and 250 were rescued.
Rescuers were handed surfoplanes, who in turn gave them to people who had been washed out to sea. "The fact that they had something to hang on to probably saved a lot of people," Ruffels says, "but half of them shouldn't have been out there in the first place." Using surfoplanes had made them overconfident in the surf.

I bought this lovely little hour glass yesterday at a beautiful antique shop. I found out that they're looking to hire for a part-time job - I'm thinking of working there, it's such a wonderful atmosphere. We're supposed to get more snow tonight, but I'm not really anxious for more snow; I really just want spring to come. I'm going to pick up my mom from the airport tonight, hopefully her plane will get there on time!

Day 19 of my 30 Days of Gratitude and this is my niece Nicola. Things haven't been great in the past couple of years between us. Nothing majorly bad but she was a bit "off the rails", but I am really glad to say that things just now are good. She's studying interior design and trying to get a regular part-time job. She helps out at our club and she's doing good. I'm really glad. This picture was taken when we had a family holiday in Portugal when she was ten and I still love it.

Sun Tao, was born in 1962 at Wuhan City. Sun is currently the vice president of the Disabled of Literary and Artistic Association in Wuhan City, member of Hubei Province Calligraphers Association, Teaching professor at the Tongji Medical College and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
At the age of 5, he had an electrocution accident that caused his right armed had to be amputated. Faced with the different and strange vision from others, Sun Tao was determined to acheive with only one arm and will not fall behind from normal persons. During Primary School, he got part time jobs to help his family ease their burden and his calligraphy studies.
At the age of 10, his passion and high achievements in academic studies with his love of literature lead to the recommendation to the famous calligrapher Chen Yi to learn calligraphy. Chen Yi said to Sun: "Your talents are very high, as long as you practice and be diligent, you will surpass others!"
Sun Tao with his left hand made it difficult to write calligraphy straight like others, if others write once, Sun will write more than 10 times and practice at least 5 hours everyday. To practice his determination and will, Sun practiced in red hot summer and used every single piece of paper to practice, including newspapers and tissues. On the road to seek further developments in calligraphy, Sun went to Beijing, Sichun to visit famous calligraphers.
God is fair and rewarded Sun Tao with many awards and nationwide achievements. His work entered numerous exhibitions in China and won many national awards. Many of his works have been collected by Worldwide collections such as <>, <> etc and also collected by artists all over the world from America, Britain, Germany etc.
Facing with those achievements, Sun Tao is very humble and said "My achievements cannot depart from the society and I will do my best to assist the society in return." He led calligraphy art work during Wuhan floods in 1998 in order to encourage the soldiers working at the frontline against floods. He also held donations for the Wuhan Flood and volunteered for the orphanage association and helped lots of people in the disability association.

Eileen Syrop has worked tirelessly over the past four years to build community and herself. It's hard to know where to begin. She was elected Class President both freshman and sophomore year, bringing together students and making them proud to hail from Hayward. As a junior and senior, Eileen founded the organization Bay Creatives: a monthly meet-up hosted at different venues throughout the Bay Area where young artists would come out in droves.
The Bay Creatives anniversary event took place in Oakland, featured eight hours of live music, and had a peak attendance of 400 people. As a musician, Eileen has self-released two EP's and multiple singles, garnering over 100K plays on Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud. She's hosted and performed at shows as far north as Vallejo and as far south as Los Angeles.
As an artist, Eileen has studied in San Francisco for two summers and self-released Nasi Magazine, a publication that showcases/celebrates women, people of color, and queer artists. From running track to earning a black belt in karate and medaling nationally, Eileen has also been an active athlete. Somehow, my sister has managed to accomplish all of above while balancing a part-time job and a full course loads of AP classes. Eileen is headed to UC Berkeley in the fall, where she'll be studying cognitive science and sociology.
She has no idea I'm submitting her story. I'm just an incredibly proud brother who believes her endeavors strengthen what it means to come from Hayward. In addition to her accomplishments, Eileen is an incredibly empathetic and kind human being, and I genuinely believe Hayward, the Bay Area, and the world would be at a loss without her.
The City of Hayward honored recipients of its first Youth Achievement Hall of Fame awards, recognizing accomplishment in academics, the arts, athletics, community service, innovation and leadership, and for heroism.
Established earlier this year by the City Council, the Hayward Youth Achievement Hall of Fame is open to young people ages 5 to 19 years old, who can be nominated by any parent or other family member, teacher, coach, mentor, youth leader, neighbor, friend or other sponsoring adult. Nominees must live in or attend school in Hayward. Nomination profiles of the 2017 Youth Hall of Fame inductees can be found here.

What ever he is doing I guess he is happy.
Which brings us to me. Yesterday I was laid off due to our company losing money due to the virus. And so like thousands of other people I am now joining the ranks of the UN-employed. It wasn't a surprise to me. I have been expecting it for weeks, or Months. It's probably time that I really retired. The Virus just forced my decision. So now I will have to figure what to do with my spare time. Oh for the short future it will be no problem. I have plenty to do around the house. And with the Corvair still not road worthy that will occupy my time. The weather here is so dam hot that I can't do much outside so when the cooler weather comes that will give me something to do. But then after that. Perhaps I will look for a part time job. Maybe I will get back into shooting again. My cameras are so dusty, and I'll need to charge batteries. Again too hot to shoot outside. The Sammy photo was shot at 6:30 AM and it was only in the low 90's Cool. LOL
I do know lots of people really enjoy retirement but I have a feeling that those people have a lot of surplus money. We have some but a trip to Europe is out of the question. Maybe a trip to San Diego. Which will happen next July. The national Corvair Convention was supposed to happen this July but of course it was cancelled and rescheduled until next year. Hopefully all this crap will be done. So yes you might see more of me on here.

"Cafe Del Sol is a German system catering chain of Gastro & Soul GmbH based in Hildesheim. Cafe Del Sol wants to offer Mediterranean atmosphere with a restaurant and a bar. The menu offers pizza, pasta and schnitzel, but also salads and snacks for the small appetite. The range of beverages includes soft drinks, beer, coffee and tea as well as cocktails and wines.
The company serves (car) mobile customers on the outskirts of the city with individual freestanding, "greenfield" buildings (standardised new buildings). This puts it in competition with other providers of system catering. The respective building of the café is a single-storey standardised building with a lot of wood in the American colonial style, a flat gabled roof as well as roofed and heatable surrounding verandas and terraces. The available space comprises about 400 to 500 jobs each, about half of them outside, the staff about fifty full-time and part-time jobs.
A breakfast buffet and Sunday brunch are offered at a flat rate. Each store has the same standardized offer; prices may vary from region to region."

New semester has started!!!! I'm so miserable(sobsobsob). I wonder would I be able to survive this semester. It's not easy at all when you try to get good grades while working on a part-time job as well.

Central Campus Hiring Fair hosted approximately 30 Des Moines area businesses to interview seniors looking to enter the workforce. Seniors have participated in resume writing and mock interviews in preparation for the Hiring Fair to find full-time and part-time jobs.
The goal is to secure a job in a career path they trained for at Central Campus and to provide seniors with employment opportunities after high school graduation that lead to a life sustainable wage with benefits.
Days without Valerie are really boring. All I did today was clean my closet, watch movies, and finalized my schedule for school.
Today was Valerie’s first day of the semester. I think it’s silly that she goes in a week before I do and ends school around, if not after, the time I do. Valerie impresses me. She has taken her current major and applied it to the things she loves most. I love it when she talks about her future plans because I know she will work hard for them. She is not afraid to push her limit and aim high. I was also glad to know that Valerie has decided to take up a major in the medical field. This was her first major but decided to switch to business. I can see she enjoys it as much as I do whenever I show her my notes or homework. She’ll be thrilled to help me this semester with Chemistry and Calculus.
I hate days when she goes to school and heads to work right after. Yes, today was one of those days. I don’t hate them because I need Valerie in order to not have a breakdown. We can be totally independent from each other and still live. I just hate that cool things will happen and I can’t just call and tell her, same goes for her. It’s crazy how much information or gossip we fit during her 10 minute breaks. I think our next profession will be reading disclaimers after every medicine commercial.
The talks I did have with Valerie today revolved around future careers. I personally have been leaning towards a surgeon. We’ll have to see how far that goes because I could operate on a human without flinching but I also want to be able to operate on animals. I feel for animals more than humans because they can’t express their pain. Maybe I should just become an ASPCA officer or work for PETA.
Now, although the pictures for today have nothing to do with our career choices, they do show those part-time jobs we might want to pursue without having to go to school.
Who knows, maybe we’ll just become Victoria Secret Angels or Suicide girls. ;) (Totally joking)
