Richard Rush was the 8th United States Attorney General and the 8th United States Secretary of Treasury. He would also serve as acting United States Secretary of State and be Vice President candidate in 1828.
Rush was born in 1780 to founding father and famous patriot, Dr Benjamin Rush. Rush was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and , along with Benjamin Franklin, created Pennsylvania Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania. Richard was born into wealth and had many great connections due to his father. He would enroll in the College of New Jersey, now known as Princeton University, in 1794 at only 14 years old and graduate 3 years later ate the young age of 17. He would pass his bar in 1800 and start his career as a lawyer at only 20 years of age.
In 1811, Rush was named the Pennsylvania Attorney General. Later that year, long time friend and newly elected President of the United States James Madison, appointed Rush to serve on his cabinet in the Treasury department. It was his first job in national politics.
During the War of 1812, Rush serve as a close adviser to Madison and was his most trusted friend. In 1814, President Madison offered Rush a choice, to either serve as Secretary of Treasury or Attorney General. Rush, who still had his law practice accepted the job as the 8th Attorney General of the United States. He would hold that position from 1814-1817. The Attorney General was only a part time job though so he was still able to continue a successful law practice in Philadelphia.
In 1817, new President James Monroe kept Rush on his staff. At the beginning of Monroe's term, Secretary of State John Quincy Adams was in Europe. Rush would step in and serve as acting Secretary of State on his absence. Adams had been serving as Minister to Britain but returned to take over as Secretary of State, and Monroe sent Rush to England to serve as Minister to Britain. Rush was loved in England because of his gentleman behavior. He would live there for 8 years where he would work out many treaties between England and America which help mend the bad blood between the two.
In 1825, Rush returned home hoping to take a spot in President John Quincy Adams cabinet as Secretary of the Navy. Rush had studied the British Navy during his time in England and thought he would be perfect for the job but Adams felt differently. Adams felt that Rush could be better served if he returned back to the Treasury Department where he got his start 14 years earlier. Rush would accept the job as the 8th United States Secretary of Treasury. This would turn out to be Adams best appointment to his cabinet and was Rush's most accomplished job while in national politics. Just like today, but not as much as today, the national debt was growing. Rush was able to raise funds to bring the debt back to $0. Samuel Ingham, the next Secretary of Treasury, was able to knock out the rest of the debt while under President Andrew Jackson. This was the last time the national debt was at $0.
In 1828, Rush was asked by John Quincy Adams to run as his Vice President candidate. Adams and Rush would lose the election to Andrew Jackson and John C Calhoun. Rush would still stay on under President Jackson but used mostly across seas to draw up treaties with other countries. In 1838, a British man named James Smithson left a good sum of money to the United States in hopes that they would use the money to build buildings that could educate the people on their history. Jackson sent Rush to England to secure the $508 thousand donated to them. The weird part is that James Smithson left this money for the United States but had never set foot in America. The government would use the money to start what is now called the Smithsonion in Washington DC.
In 1849, Richard Rush would retire from politics and return back to Philadelphia to spend the rest of hist life. Rush died in 1859 after a long and successful life and career. He is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa.

Week two of this year was kind of awful. There is nothing that will try your patience like looking for a new job. I questioned a lot of things in my impatience as well: why I went to art school... what I could have been thinking getting a degree that didn't really have a direct path to a career after graduation.... why I applied to grad school for my mfa.... if I was even good enough to get into the school I wanted. In the end I decided I was being overdramatic and needed to chill out and put my faith in God. After all I had done my best in everything that I had control over. Fortunately I am now spending week 3 training for my new job with an interview for another part time job. I have also started a pretty awesome collection of camping gear which I am absolutely dying to try out. So week 2 tested my patience and pushed me to prayer and hey I made it through alive so cheers!
p.s. I am desperately looking forward to summer when I can put some color back into that tragically pale face of mine O.o

The Governor’s Welfare Employment Committee announced the winners of its 2017 TANF Employment Awards of Excellence as it recognized 39 employers in Delaware who hire, train and maintain positive working relationships with employees who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits, and 47 TANF clients who have succeeded in the workplace despite the challenges they have faced.
The nominees in both the employee and employer categories were honored at a breakfast ceremony April 19 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

My part-time job is at a second hand store, and we had donated to it a hoard of Doctor Who toys. And believe me, much of it, particularly the Daleks had seen better days.
It’s a policy where I work not to sell anything broken, and these will never see life displayed on the shelf for sale. And it’s sad as I would have been happy to purchase them all.

Las Miko (literalmente, médium o sacerdotisa) son sirvientes de los templos shinto que se han consagrado a su deidad y, supuestamente, permanecen vírgenes durante toda su vida. Su origen se remonta a la era Sengoku (1467-1568), uno de los períodos más turbulentos de la historia de Japón, y entre sus tareas se encuentras asistir a los monjes en las ceremonias, llevar a cabo las danzas ceremoniales (miko-mai) y atender a los fieles en las diferentes ventanillas de los templos vendiendo entradas, Omamori (amuletos protectores), Ofuda (talismanes) y Omikuji (papeles con la fortuna).
En la actualidad, lo más probable es que en realidad se traten de jóvenes universitarias en busca de un trabajo a tiempo parcial que les reporte un (modesto) sueldo con el que subsistir en esa etapa de sus vidas.
El atuendo tradicional de las Miko está compuesto por un haori blanco (chaqueta con corte de kimono) y un hakama rojo (falda dividida similar a un pantalón que utilizaban tradicionalmente los nobles y samurais durante el periodo Edo) atado con el cho musubi (nudo de la mariposa).

Mikos (literally, shaman woman) are servants of the Shinto shrines who are devoted to their deity and, preferably, they remaln virgins during their entire life. Their origin dates back Sengoku era (1467 - 1568), one of the most turbulent periods in Japan history, and their duties consist on assisting the priests during the ceremonies, perform ceremonial dances (miko-mai) and attend the fidels in the different hatches of the temples selling tickets, Omamori (protective amulets), Ofuda (talismans) and Omikuji (papers containing fortune)
Nowadays, they are young girls studying at college most likely, looking for a part-time job which gives them a (modest) salary to subsist along this stage of their life.

Kro Piccadilly has closed with the loss of 40 bar and restaurant workers, the founder of the chain has confirmed.
The landmark city centre venue was shut this morning - prompting queries from regular patrons and city centre passers-by.
Businessman Mark Ruby said the decision was made to shut the popular venue after building’s landlord doubled the rent.
The chain’s Heaton Moor and Oxford Road branches remain open but Mr Ruby said there were no vacancies at either to absorb any of the 20 full time and 20 part time job losses at Piccadilly.
Speaking to the M.E.N, Mr Ruby said: “Most people are very upset. It’s been nearly 10 years so it’s pretty tough.
“A lot of the regulars are upset and obviously the staff are, particularly.
“It’s not a particularly nice situation to be in. Hopefully the staff will get themselves jobs quickly and we’ll soldier on, it’s all we can do.”

LaNia grew up in the city of Milwaukee, and attended an arts high school there, where her love for visual art was fostered. As of right now, LaNia devotes most of her time to constructing her art projects, working a part time job while participating in various art and community invested opportunities.
This book is the investigation of three different personal tropes expressed in active text and etchings. Every stage is different; the imagery and poetry flow together as if it were one story. All four etchings illustrate a transformation of character. All imagery and text are inspired by Lois Morrison artist’s book “In Adam’s Fall”.

Last night, my parked car was involved in a hit and run accident. Somebody traveling on the wrong side of the road hit the front driver's side bumper. This accident pushed one of my wheels up over the curb and wedged my bumper underneath my friend's car, who was parked behind me. The force was so strong it knocked off the cover from my glove compartment and almost ejected the cassette adapter from my stereo. My car still runs but the alignment is totally messed up; I think the frame is bent. I may need to get a new car even though I only have a part time job.
What do you do at your part time job when your supposed to be answering emails, taking phone calls and making notes…DOODLE LIKE A MOTHER F####R….and then you get fired!

Boiled green peas, spiced and topped with grated coconut and raw mango (Sundal in tamil), the age old snack you would'nt miss on Marina Beach,Chennai. The snack is usually sold by young boys who sometimes do it as a part time job, when they are not at school.
With high gasoline prices, my mother is having a hard time making ends meet, so she took a part time job as a alligator manicurist.
It's a pretty dangerous job. First she has to lasso the gator and pull it to shore (no small job in itself, especially considering her age). Then she has to subdue the gator, which is really the most dangerous part. Not wanting to hurt the animal, she wrestles it, sometimes for over an hour, just to wear it out. After the gator has lost all will to fight, she flips it over and begins the arduous task of trimming the nails.
Here, she's almost finished. It takes the gator about 20 minutes to fully regain it's energy before it's able to return to the water, none the worse for wear.
I never quite thought this one would make it to the Explore front page but there it was! Bam!

Biography:
i love color. i used to match my outfits in high school down to my shoe laces. i love capturing the vibrant colors found in nature, found in stage lighting, found in man made things. "lipshitz" was a project in collaboration with a creative spirit to showcase color and texture. "nai" is a music portrait i created while i was photographing one of my favorite bands, hiatus kaiyote.
loving color so much, i find it a challenge to present ideas in black and white. "good morning" was a very intimate moment of someone very dear to me. i tried different color filters, but none quite fit the mood like traditional black and white.
photography is an extension of me. it’s something that surrounded me as a child and something i never thought I could do, as a real profession. i still wake up everyday and think to myself "wow, this is what i DO for a living." it's so magical, being able to capture a moment in time, forever. i love looking back at old images and remembering how i felt. to me, photographs are feelings you are able to see.
CCSF Photography and You:
i began taking classes in 2009, a few months after my father passed away. that year, in addition to losing one of the most important people in my life, i was assaulted (while out photographing), and let go of my part time job. my life was in shambles. i was shooting part time and earning money for a couple of years, but knew i needed to take things to the next level. photography was the only thing i had left.
i enrolled in classes at CCSF in fall 2009 and for the first time in months, felt like i had a purpose again. my purpose was to make more images and to become a better photographer. it was the only reason i got out of bed on many, many days. learning about my newly chosen full-time career was an escape from my everyday reality.
i challenged myself by taking classes in subjects i had never touched, like studio photography. i struggled through the assignments but the professors were always supportive. one of the most difficult courses was self-portraiture, offered in the summer. it made us really observe ourselves, our feelings, and how we move in the world around us. i also loved the lecture series which featured real life photographers in different fields.
CCSF helped to ease my transition into photography as a full time career during the hardest year of my life. i'm thankful and forever grateful for all the experiences and great people i met along the way.
I've juz returned to London after a tiring journey. =[

The Governor’s Welfare Employment Committee announced the winners of its 2017 TANF Employment Awards of Excellence as it recognized 39 employers in Delaware who hire, train and maintain positive working relationships with employees who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits, and 47 TANF clients who have succeeded in the workplace despite the challenges they have faced.
The nominees in both the employee and employer categories were honored at a breakfast ceremony April 19 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
The employee winners of the 2017 TANF Employment Awards of Excellence are:
•New Castle County: Gienavive Johnson
•Kent County: Patricia Milburn
•Sussex County: Valarie Purnell
•Statewide: Akira Collins

“We all have an attachment to work and to the dignity that comes with a job,” DHSS Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker said. “The working parents we honored found jobs through our TANF program, and they are raising their families, demonstrating initiative and excelling in their workplaces. That path to self-sufficiency was borne out of perseverance. That is a powerful message of success, and I’m so proud of the work we’re doing together.”
“The TANF program is yet another valuable resource the State of Delaware is making available to some of our most deserving residents,” said Labor Secretary Dr. Patrice Gilliam-Johnson. “We are pleased to be recognizing those employers who help make these opportunities a reality and the employees who continue to serve as stellar examples of the program’s success.”
A total of 47 employees – 19 from New Castle County, 16 from Sussex County and 12 from Kent County – were nominated, along with 39 employers. The employers nominated were:

TANF is a time-limited program, and work-mandatory clients can receive TANF benefits for a maximum of 36 total months in their lifetimes. To get a monthly TANF benefit, most clients must work or participate in work-related activities for 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on the number of parents in the household and the age of their children.
In Fiscal Year 2016, employment and training vendors served 1,704 clients in Delaware, with 329 clients earning full-time jobs and 408 earning part-time jobs.

Tom Schandy from Norway has been interested in birds since he was a small boy. 12 years old he had his own bird-column in the local newspaper, and soon he started to illustrate his bird articles with own pictures. He studied biology at the University of Oslo and made his master on the lekking behaviour of the Great Snipe, and he financed his studies by selling pictures of birds and other creatures.
After finishing his studies he got a part-time job in WWF Norway, first as a conservation officer, later as an information officer. Rest of the time he worked as a freelance wildlife photographer and author. I 2000 he became full time author and professional wildlife photographer – and has never looked back. Now he searches the globe for nature – in order to write articles and make books. So far he has been involved in more than 20 books, mainly on natural history. Many books are local nature books, but he also made a book about Africa which has been published in both Norwegian, Swedish, English and Spanish (The magnificent Africa).
The last few years he has been concentrating on Latin-Americas wildernesses, and just now he is moving his attention to the northern wildernesses of the world, like Alaska, Canada. Spitsbergen and Russia.
The aspect of nature conservation forms a vital part of Tom Schandys photography. If his photos, books and articles on nature and wildlife can be used to promote the enjoyment of nature and inspire nature conservation and biological diversity, then much of the purpose has been achieved!
Sun Tao, was born in 1962 at Wuhan City. Sun is currently the vice president of the Disabled of Literary and Artistic Association in Wuhan City, member of Hubei Province Calligraphers Association, Teaching professor at the Tongji Medical College and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
At the age of 5, he had an electrocution accident that caused his right armed had to be amputated. Faced with the different and strange vision from others, Sun Tao was determined to acheive with only one arm and will not fall behind from normal persons. During Primary School, he got part time jobs to help his family ease their burden and his calligraphy studies.
At the age of 10, his passion and high achievements in academic studies with his love of literature lead to the recommendation to the famous calligrapher Chen Yi to learn calligraphy. Chen Yi said to Sun: "Your talents are very high, as long as you practice and be diligent, you will surpass others!"
Sun Tao with his left hand made it difficult to write calligraphy straight like others, if others write once, Sun will write more than 10 times and practice at least 5 hours everyday. To practice his determination and will, Sun practiced in red hot summer and used every single piece of paper to practice, including newspapers and tissues. On the road to seek further developments in calligraphy, Sun went to Beijing, Sichun to visit famous calligraphers.
God is fair and rewarded Sun Tao with many awards and nationwide achievements. His work entered numerous exhibitions in China and won many national awards. Many of his works have been collected by Worldwide collections such as <>, <> etc and also collected by artists all over the world from America, Britain, Germany etc.
Facing with those achievements, Sun Tao is very humble and said "My achievements cannot depart from the society and I will do my best to assist the society in return." He led calligraphy art work during Wuhan floods in 1998 in order to encourage the soldiers working at the frontline against floods. He also held donations for the Wuhan Flood and volunteered for the orphanage association and helped lots of people in the disability association.

Last night, my parked car was involved in a hit and run accident. Somebody traveling on the wrong side of the road hit the front driver's side bumper. This accident pushed one of my wheels up over the curb and wedged my bumper underneath my friend's car, who was parked behind me. The force was so strong it knocked off the cover from my glove compartment and almost ejected the cassette adapter from my stereo. My car still runs but the alignment is totally messed up; I think the frame is bent. I may need to get a new car even though I only have a part time job.
