When we got to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon during our round trip around Iceland this year in May, the whole place was teaming with beautiful Eider ducks which had returned from their hibernating grounds in less Northern regions. These birds appeared to be so very much in their natural element while we were still shivering of cold :)

A night of wonderfully changing skies on the Lofoten islands with fleeting clouds, stars galore in between and from time to time a glimpse of Northern lights.
More impressions from a day of utter weather conflicts when we revisited Austfjorden fjord on the Lofoten islands.
Here the end of a blizzard and the return of the sun for about five minutes before the next weather front came in.
North Iceland's Siglufjordur fjord and its courseway connecting the town of the same name with the opposite shore of the fjord.
A good view on the Fellhorn ridge trail, taken from the slope of the Fellhorn. It shows that the ridge isn't sharp - not in this place, anyway. And the views are spectacular in all directions, here in the direction of the German Allgäu and of the Austrian Kleinwalsertal.

These beautifully frosted mountains looking like a sugar-powdered tiramisu are located close to Vik in South Iceland. I loved the hill with its vantage point from where we were shooting this landscape and when I noticed the kind of "fence" at the border of the road I had to chuckle. This is what I call creative fencing.

River Skjálfandafljót in Central-North Iceland on its amazing course towards Aldeyjarfoss after having passed Godafoss miles and miles before. The terrain becomes rougher and rougher and access to Aldeyjarfoss is pretty tricky as we had to learn. This river forms five amazing waterfalls: Godafoss, Hrafnabjargafoss, Aldeyjarfoss, Barnafoss and Ullarfoss.
Landscape in the South of Iceland near Kirkjujabaerklaustur with its amazing rock formations. But what I loved especially about this was that one huge cloud towering over everything that looked like a star destroyer ;)

We revisited many of the places we had seen twice in summer to get a profound idea of what Lofoten in winter really means. Obviously Uttakleiv was one of these with the exception that in summer we barely saw a single soul here. Now in winter, there were queues for photographing the beach in LE with the mountain backdrop.

A visit to Stonehenge, the magnificent 5000 year old prehistoric stone circle near Amesbury in Wiltshire, England. The day seemed perfect for a visit to this place with strong clouds overhead and a weather mood one would ask for to frame the dramatic ensemble from the distant past.
Sorry my friends that I have not been around lately but I needed a break. I hope to contribute more frequently again soon.

After a very early morning ride southwards on the Lofoten islands we returned to our temporary abode for breakfast. In doing so we past by Skreda where a panoramic viewpoint offers gorgeous vistas. That morning the sea was steaming and all around the fjord the landscape was covered in snow. Such a lovely weather mood and on top I noticed this funny fence by the fjord.

Gimsoystraumenbru bridge linking two Lofoten islands is always a welcome sight and crossing it is really fun due to its high rise and curved structure which adds an element of suspense to the crossing ;) Besides this it is located in a beautiful natural spot that deserves a panoramic image all by itself.

a beautiful stretch of the Northern coast of Iceland with a coastal lagoon and a courseway made of black volcanic gravel. Quite a treat to the eye :)

This chapel is situated on top of the 'Ölberg", a steep vineyard in the Markgräflerland at the foothills of the Black Forest. Its location offers the most beautiful views to the Markgräflerland, the Black Forest and the Vosges/France in the distance. Worth the steep walk.
Die Ölbergkapelle bei Ehrenkirchen ist wundervoll gelegen.
Nach steilem Aufstieg durch die Weinberge auf den 'Ölberg' wird man von einer einem herrlichen Ausblick in das Markgräflerland, auf die Staufener Burg sowie den Schwarzwald und die Rheinebene bis hin zu den Vogesen belohnt. Dort wachsen auch die Reben für hervorragenden Wein, den 'Ehrenstetter Ölberg"

Il castello di Bled (in sloveno blejski grad) è un castello medievale costruito su una rocca che sovrasta il lago di Bled in Slovenia e si trova nel comune di Bled. Si pensa che sia il più antico castello sloveno ed è attualmente una delle attrazioni turistiche più visitate del paese.
Il castello ha origini intorno al XI secolo per donazione dell'imperatore Enrico II a favore dei vescovi di Bressanone, poi, data la sua posizione, passò sotto gli Asburgo nel 1278.
