Piedmont is the new restaurant opened by Andy Magowan, formerly of Federal, along with his wife Abby, and co-chef Drew Brown. It's actually an awesome French/Italian provincial restaurant, one of the best in Durham, but during the day it moonlights as a lunch joint where you can get a house-cured pastrami sandwich and fries for under $7.

And that pastrami is some of the finest tasting & smelling meat I've ever had. Omigod. There are also other sandwiches & some salads.

View on map, get directions, or find other RTP lunch spots.

"This impressive Mission Revival apartment house was built in 1912 with William Bray as architect. It was called Piedmont Court, and when built was described as "Moorish in design, with an elaborate interior court with fountain." Especially notable are its twin towers and twin espadanas, which are decorated with variations of the quatrefoil."
