This is the agricultural landscape to the south west of Turin, captured as our airplane banked sharply before its final descent. Very often, images through aircraft windows are distorted or tinted but I was quite pleased with the detail and sharpness here.

Continuing my series of old ghost town photos, this house was located in Piedmont, Wyoming. Photos taken on later visits showed the roof peeled off in one piece, probably by the famous winds of Wyoming. Piedmont was a railroad and timber town that died when the railroad was re-routed and bypassed the town. In 1869 it became famous when 300 men who had helped build the railroad were fired without pay. The men hijacked a special train here carrying dignitaries to the Golden Spike ceremony to join the two sections of the first transcontinental railroad. The ceremony was delayed until $200,000 in back pay was received and the officials were allowed to continue to their destination. This photo was taken on slide film in 2001 and scanned to create a digital image.

VAL PELLICE-PIEMONTE- ITALY (The long winter of the village)
For these small villages, located at the foot of the mountains, the most critical period of the year begins. Due to the sun being very low on the horizon in winter, they will enjoy very few, if any, hours a day of direct sunlight.
Westbound Piedmont train 77 at Pomeroy Street, just east of Burlington. In a few short minutes, they'll complete their stop at Burlington and continue toward Charlotte. This is the fourth and final of the daily westbound Piedmont trains under the current Amtrak/NCDOT schedule.
We always stop in Atlanta on our way up to the Carolina's to see family. I have always wanted to get this shot at Piedmont Park in Downtown Atlanta. My husband has been against my going over there as it has a high crime rate at night. On this particular weekend it was crowded with an event so we thought we would go early and see how it went. The park was very crowded...there were only two other photographers at the small lake (they did not stay long). I got a few shots and we headed back to the parking area. I will admit I was glad when we finally reached the car. This park is beautful during day but it does have a strange feeling at night.
