Asti is a comune located in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, about 55 kilometres (34 miles) east of Turin in the plain of the Tanaro River. It is the capital of the province of Asti and it is deemed to be the modern capital of Montferrat.

La Morra is one of the most beautiful and important places in the Langhe/Piedmont region, near the wine village of Barolo, the region where the famous wine of the same name is produced.

The morning NCDOT "Piedmont" train to Raleigh (#74) passes through the NS yard at East Durham on a pleasant fall morning. With F59PHs disappearing from most other commuter railroads, the line is one of a dwindling few where these engines can be seen on a daily basis. The typical NCDOT train operates with an F59PH on one end and an F59PHI on the other end, although there's not really a rhyme or reason as to which one faces in which direction.
95Z-04 takes an odd routing from Atlanta to Butner, NC going via the Atlanta North, I-Line, AS Line to reach Greensboro as opposed to using the Piedmont. It's a rare Saturday train using the former Southern loops between Asheville and Old Fort.
