Mid 80's plastic model kit found in a thrift store. Love the old Piedmont Airlines paint scheme (they were based out of my hometown of Greensboro, and a neighbor worked maintenance for them).
Way overpriced at $40. But cool nonetheless. They had a ton of old NASCAR paraphernalia.

Piedmont Park is a 189-acre (0.76 km2) urban park in Atlanta, Georgia, located in Midtown, north of the city center.
Originally the land was owned by Dr. Benjamin Walker, who used it as his out-of-town gentleman's farm and residence. He sold the land in 1887 to the Gentlemen's Driving Club (later renamed the Piedmont Driving Club), who wanted to establish an exclusive club and racing ground for horse enthusiasts.
This is one of my favorite buildings to sketch near my home in Piedmont SC. Sketch is on 80 pound drawing paper (Strathmore 400 series drawing paper). It takes a surprising amount of wet media to be so thin. Drawn with a fountain pen from my friend Denise, I used a refillable waterbrush to shade it (using the ink from the pen only).
I think I'll continue to try the paper (and pen) out to see just how far I can push them.

Went to Piedmont Park with Mimi and wandered around for nearly forever.
It is a beautiful place.

Flash Flooding occurred in Piedmont, South Dakota from a slow-moving supercell thunderstorm on June 1, 2015.
"Founded in 1867, Contratto is Italy's oldest Metodo Classico house. It is based in Canelli, Piedmont and boasts impressive underground cellars and 45 hectares of vines. Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta purchased Contratto in 2011, thus adding sparkling wines, vermouths and bitters to his production line. The vines are located in Alta Langa, and some plantings of Pinot Nero extend up to 850 meters above sea level. Contratto makes about 200,000 bottles per year, and this is seriously some of the best sparkling wine found in Italy distinguished by the distinctive Art Deco designs on the bottle. These wines are very impressive."
One hundred new CWA stewards from 42 different Piedmont Airlines stations attended their first training last week.
Over the course of four days, stewards each attended a day-long training class in Charlotte, where they learned more about the new contract, which went into effect on Monday, and their new role in the workplace. They focused on how to solve problems, union building and signing up coworkers. There are 3,700 CWA-represented agents at Piedmont Airlines.
The group included one employee who was hired just nine months ago, but also agents who have spent the last decade fighting for a union voice. Agents flew in from as far as Arizona and New Mexico.
The training was led by Kate Shaughnessy, CWA education staff representative; Jimmy Tarlau, assistant to the vice president for District 2-13; and Abdur Bilal, a Piedmont agent and longtime activist who helped organize the agents.
"It was quite exhausting — 6 hours a day for 4 days — but I must say it is some of the most rewarding work that I've been involved in doing movement work over the last forty years," said Tarlau.
