Had a blast with Chase's shoes. Almost a total fiasco. When they showed up on my front porch, I almost panicked. I wasn't expecting to get them so quickly. Then I had a rush of fantastic ideas about what I wanted to do with them.
I wanted to take them to Washington D.C. where I got my first paying photography job. Shoot them in front of a cool building, full cto gel, drag shutter, zoom blur for the bg. Good right? I had a job in D.C. the next Monday and Tuesday! Great! I'll take them with me! That didn't really work. I brought them, but they didn't fit into ANY bag I had. And, I was on a pretty professional shoot. (Suit and tie, Secretary of Health and Human Services) So, hanging shoes from my bag wasn't going to work.
Then, 5 days later, I got the swing flu, (H1N1), and I was stuck in bed for a week.
Keeping with the theme, I wanted to take them to the capitol buiilding here in Richmond, VA. Same shot, different building. Nope! A marathon congested the whole area and there was no way of driving into the city. Ugh!
So I decided to take them to Ashland, VA. There are cool stores and a coffee shop, where I could shoot the shoes. NOPE, train day! Everyone was there for freakin' train day. I went to the other end of town, on the tracks and took some shots there.
THEN, I took the shoes home and hung them from mono-filament, and shot them in my backyard. HAHA!!
Overall, I had a great time with the shoes, glad to pass them off to the next photog. He is going to have fun with them too! If you're waiting for them, they are on the way! Be patient, and have a lot of ideas ready, just in case one doesn't work out!! :)

Will: Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.? That's a tough one, but I'll take a shot. Say I'm working at N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people I never met, never had no problem with, get killed. Now the politicians are sayin', "Oh, send in the Marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number got called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes back to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile, he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And, of course, the oil companies used the skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them, but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. And they're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, of course, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and fuckin' play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So now my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's got to walk to the fuckin' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starvin', 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat, the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. I figure fuck it, while I'm at it why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president....

"Tutti in coperta, ci siamo disincagliati!" sentii gridare il capitano
"Esplorate la nave, sostituite il cuoco: che nessuno sopravviva!"
Attraverso gli stretti, intorno a Capo Horn: fin dove possono fuggire i marinai?
Un sentiero difficile, una strada tormentata, e nessun sopravvissuto
Partimmo per luoghi sconosciuti all'uomo, dove le navi vanno a morire
Nessuna vetta elevata,
Here's a sight for sore eyes.
This is the lest Stanley hand pane I have ever owned. It's a low knob no 4, and according to Patrick Leach's type study here...
www.hyperkitten.com/tools/stanley_bench_plane/type_study....
... this one would be a Type 9 as in 1902-1907.
I know people in America have these planes for breakfast. But where i live this is a first and I'd be surprised to find another one in the next five to ten lifetimes.
This one ain't entirely original or unharmed. The cutter is a SW era cutter, but hey, I ain't fretting. The rear handle has cracked and repaired so and so, but it has held together for what seems like half it's age. The front knob has seen damage and a big chip is missing at the base.
The lever cap has probably been used as a screwdriver a few times too many.
But, still. My first low knob Stanley. I feel like I just lost my virginity.
The plane also displays one sign of oddity in therms of placing it dead center in a specific type era.
The Type 9 planes do have the two patent dates cast into the bed. It also has Bailey at the toe. It has the lateral ridge in the base that meets the frog. But the lateral adjuster lever on this Type ought to be void of any patent dates. But nope, this one has the same patent date stamped onto the lever as in the previous Type 8.
Did I just discover another unknown Type? Nope, don't really think so. I guess some of the old Type levers were used in a late type.
This plane has a very gracious feel about it. I haven't fettled a lot, just given it a moderate cleaning and polishing. The cutter is resharpened and it has been taken for short test run on a piece of no brainer Finnish pine.
I do like the feedback. The depth adjusting nut rotates with relative ease despite the smaller size. The lateral adjuster with it's rotating disk is really nice and of course the support of a proper frog does it's own kind of magic. So yes, thumbs up by all means. I think this one's a keeper.

The Bedouin,(from the Arabic badawī, pl. badū), are a predominantly desert-dwelling Arab ethnic group (previously nomadic). The Bedouins are divided into five related tribes. These tribes were organized on several levels—a widely quoted Bedouin saying is "My brothers and I against my cousins, then my cousins and I against strangers". This saying signifies a hierarchy of loyalties based on closeness of kinship that runs from the nuclear family through the lineage, the tribe, and even, in principle at least, to an entire ethnic or linguistic group (which is perceived to have a kinship basis). Disputes are settled, interests are pursued, and justice and order are maintained by means of this organizational framework, according to an ethic of self-help and collective responsibility (Andersen 14). The individual family unit (known as a tent or bayt) typically consisted of three or four adults (a married couple plus siblings or parents) and any number of children.

My son and I were at the campground all day yesterday with our cub scout pack, and by the time we got home, got showered and unpacked, I was too tired to go through pictures.
This was only the 2nd photo I took that day, but one of my favorites since it perfectly captured how the rest of day went. I remember when I used to have that much energy, the kind that lasted all day long without the need for caffeine or energy drinks.

Thaipusam actually celebrates the birthday of the Hindu deity Subramaniam. On this occasion, Hindus show the sincerity of their faith. It is a time for making and fulfilling vows. Devotees pray for divine help and make vows. When their prayers are answered, they fulfil their vows.
To do this, a devotee would pierce his cheeks, tongue, face or other suitable body parts with sharp objects. Next his friends or relatives load a *kavadi on his shoulder. Finally, in a trance-like manner, he goes on a 4km journey of faith.
Others, including young children, might join the procession carrying only milk pots. The Thaipusam Singapore procession starts at the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road and ends at the Sri Thandayuthapani Temple on Tank Road.
At first look, one might think that the festival starts at one temple and ends at another. Not so. Many of the devotees start fasting a month before the Thaipusam Singapore festivities. Others fast a week. Yet others three days.
A Hindu friend said this to me, "If you are going to put a 12-inch skewer through your cheeks and a hundred spikes in your chest, you'd better take your fast seriously!"
* A kavadi is a cage-like structure carried by devotees during the Thaipusam Festival.
It is traditionally decorated with peacock feathers and aluminium plates which show images of Hindu deities. Sharp spikes criss-cross its lower section.
An elaborate kavadi might weigh up to 15kg! It is quite something just to lift it. But these chaps I saw actually walked with them for 4km - kavadis, skewers, hooks, spikes and all!
Some of them even skipped and danced with their kavadis. Either they have great endurance or they have some supernatural help.
From the Helbronner's top, with the glacier cable car you can reach the Aiguille du Midit which is located at an altitude of 3842 meters above sea level and is the highest point of the Mont Blanc reachable by cable car. On Aiguille du Midi there are some bars, a restaurant, a shop and beautiful terraces. The drive from Helbronner's top to Aiguille du Midi is without doubt the most spectacular view of the journey both for the panorama and the technical aspects: in fact it is at this stage that there is the famous suspended pylon which had been a great work of engineering and is still really exciting to see. With regard to the landscape, the cable flies over the glacier of the giant that joining the Tacul forms the Mer de Glace on the French side. From the cable car you can see people who have chosen to make the crossing on foot and also the European scientific mission, the scenery is breathtaking and leaves you speechless, and I will let the pictures speak.
As I watched the images to make a choice on hubby's I-pod passed "Higher" by Faun Fables, nothing more suitable! Unfortunately I have not even found a version on the web and therefore anyone wants to hear it should get it otherwise ... ehm... I mean... not that I want to go so high so soon but I can't avoid to consider that, believers or not, when we think of the paradise we imagine it bright, white and blue and in my life and I've never seen so much light, so much white and so much blue sky: a true paradise!
Annual Ticketing Business Forum at Lancashire CCC, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. Picture by Paul Heyes, Tuesday April 09, 2019.
The dunes were formed from sand deposits of the Rio Grande and its tributaries, flowing through the San Luis Valley. Over the ages, westerly winds picked up sand particles from the river flood plain. As the wind lost power before crossing the Sangre de Cristo Range, the sand was deposited on the east edge of the valley. This process continues, and the dunes are slowly growing. The wind changes the shape of the dunes daily.
There are several streams flowing on the perimeter of the dunes. The streams erode the edge of the dune field, and sand is carried downstream. The water disappears into the ground, depositing sand on the surface. Winds pick up the deposits of sand, and blow them up onto the dune field once again.
Digging a few inches into the dunes even at their peaks reveals wet sand. If the streams were to dry up, the dunes would disappear; in fact part of the motivation of turning the Monument into a National Park was the extra protection of the water, which Colorado's cities and agriculture covet. -Wikipedia
Though it looks small, George Mason's home is quite spacious inside. One of my favourite features was the beautiful center passage or hallway; the front and back doors are, as was common in this style of home, directly across from each other. When both doors were opened, not only was the broad center hallway between the doors cooled, fresh, cool air circulated through the other rooms in the house as well. Functionality aside, though, it is a lovely thing, the main hall.
By the way, Mason, his architect, and his groundsmen did a divine job of designing the home in coordination with the grounds. For one thing, the house was meant to stand alone, with no mature trees growing near it; according to the website, "Mason meant it to be seen standing isolated in space". The black-heart cherry tree-lined drive lead your eyes to the home along a twelve-foot-wide carriage drive; the Palladian portico you see is also twelve feet wide, as is Gunston Hall's aforementioned center passage. The rear, riverfront portico is twelve feet wide, as is the gravel path through the center of the rear garden leading toward the south and the Potomac river. The effect is quite beautiful.
The small building you see on the left side of the frame is the kitchen. The location was interesting to me, because to get to the dining room, slaves would bring the food into the hallway from the kitchen yard (there is a door and hallway leading from the center passage to the kitchen yard), past the Mr. and Mrs. Mason's bedroom on one side and the informal family dining/sitting room on the other, across the great hall, and into the dining room. Weird.

Era de um verde espesso e sonolento
Um ver imóvel sob nenhum vento
Até à branca praia cor de rosas
Tocada pelas águas transparentes

Class
So for for my degree in college I'm required to take a makeup class this month, which is pretty cool lol.
Today's theme was time periods. We had to do makeup for whatever time period we wanted; I made my partner look like Stonewall Jackson, and he made me look like a 1920's actor, which I thought, despite not having any clothes from the 1920's looked pretty good :). I still have the mustache on as I type this lol.
Anyways I hope you all enjoy, I might post more photos that were done in my makeup class this month :).

The Indian Peafowl, Pavo cristatus, also known as the Common Peafowl or the Blue Peafowl, is one of the species of bird in the genus Pavo of the Phasianidae family known as peafowl. The Indian Peafowl is a resident breeder in the Indian subcontinent. The peacock is the national bird of India.
The species is found in dry semi-desert grasslands, scrub and deciduous forests. It forages and nests on the ground but roosts on top of trees. It eats mainly seeds, but also some insects, fruits and reptiles.
Peafowl are most notable for the male's extravagant display feathers which, despite actually growing from their back, are known as a 'tail' or a train. This train is in reality not the tail but the enormously elongated upper tail coverts. The tail itself is brown and short as in the peahen. They are a result of sexual selection and are displayed as part of courtship.

CASTELLANO

Ahmed working on his Wushu moves in a courtyard in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Ahmed put out a casting call on Model Mayhem asking for a photographer to catch his martial arts moves. I answered the call and we set this up. It was a heck of a walk from the hotel I was in but it was very much worth it, we shot for an hour and a half and I have quite a few usable images from it.
I was very fortunate we had an overcast day, it only took a flash or two on 1/4 power to completely control the ambient light and make it look like we shot in the middle of the night, it was about 5pm.

Meeks' (or Plunkett-Meeks) Store in Appomattox Court House, Virginia, was built in 1852 by John Plunkett and bought about 10 years later by Francis Meeks, who operated the store and post office there at the time of the surrender ending the American Civil War. This building, which appears in a circa-1890 photo in National Park Service Handbook 109, is a restored original structure; it faces the courthouse across the street (right, out of this photo). Portions of Meeks' Stable and Woodson's Law Office (preceding photos) are visible on the left and right of the store, respectively; farther right is a Clover Hill Tavern building.
In much the same way that relocating the Virginia capital from Williamsburg to Richmond during the Revolutionary War is credited with making the eventual restoration of Colonial Williamsburg possible, the 1892 burning of the Appomattox County courthouse is said by the National Park Service to have kept the area as it existed at the end of the Civil War available for restoration. Rather than rebuild the courthouse on the same site right after the fire, the county relocated the county seat to Appomattox Station (now Appomattox) a few miles away, and the old courthouse area was largely abandoned.
For more information, see the Appomattox Court House set.

The great thing about Wales is that all trails lead to a pub.
And because I'm not too good on my feet at the moment,,,I'm tending to see more pub than trail.
Seeing as my daughter knows how to handle a screwmount Leica, I get to be in some of the photographs when she's around too. This shot looks like it's 6x6 format, but that's because it was the last shot on the roll, and for some reason the right hand edge got wrecked, so I had to crop it.
Of course, all the writing in Wales and the Welsh Language (like on the front of this pub) is back to front, relative to English, because we read written Welsh from right to left, like the peoples of The Levant, from whom, as Welsh people, we are all descended.
In the far West of Wales, in Cardyland, they often speak it backwards too, though this practice is slowly dying out as free schooling for children over 8 years old spreads there, thanks to the enlightened policies of our fairly recent and independent Welsh Assembly Government. Also, they wish to avoid the label of Satanism.
Unlike other countries, which either drive on the left or right hand side of the road, in our little but very ancient country, we drive on both, alternating between each side depending on the phase of the moon, and whether the month has a letter 'R' (written backwards) in it or not.
It's all to do with Welsh Druidism and the ancient rights of cattle drovers.

Unlike with the word 'gigantic',
could not the impression reproduce, as then directly in front of the fortress.

Seen at a rally in Belleville denouncing the multiplication of raids and expulsions of "sans-papiers". The Dinseyland billboard reads "This summer, your dreams shine later" while the leaflets on the metro station read: "Dad expulsed, broken family, kid in danger, Sarko enough", "raids: too many bloody mistakes", "sans-papiers on hunger strike", etc.
