Imagine Whirled Peas

~~~~~
Mojave Desert, CA. Yes, the enormous letters are actually real. Perhaps like the world, they've seen better days. The long exposure shows the movement of the stars over 31 minutes of time. To create this night photo, I set the camera on a tripod. I opened the camera shutter for a long time. While the shutter was open, I walked around with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light capable of producing different colors, and illuminated the scene. During the exposure, all the light I shined on the subject was cumulative. This process is called "light painting". Why? Because one uses the flashlight as a paintbrush, "brushing" on light, not paint. Light painting to illuminate subjects is a beautiful, addictive art, as you can walk around the scene, deciding what to bring to light and what to keep in shadow. And it's more fun than AI-generated images.
The peas returned, this time not in their pod lol. This idea popped into my head and the woolly hats were a must lol. The middle pea was laughing so much he nearly peed himself!
A story and recipe on peas here
I'm really enjoying my sweet peas in the garden this year, lots of colour and the perfume is wonderful.
I don't know why this little flower has attracted me! Little pea pods coming soon! Love my Garden!
My sweet pea seem to be slow at flowering but I managed to find a few today. I think they need some sunshine, we have had so much rain lately, I think summer might be a washout this year!
Photo of Sweet Pea taken on April 29, 2021 with my Nikon FM3a camera, a Nikon 50mm lens, and Fujifilm 400H color film.
I got my film and scans back from developing and here is Sweet Pea!
Played with light for this second entry in Green theme. After playing with different coloured backgrounds, I opted for this one. I have another green one which I liked.
Sweet peas are easy to grow in any fertile soil that drains easily, in full sun. Feed weekly or fortnightly with a liquid fertiliser and ensure a regular supply of flowers by picking or deadheading.
"Cultivation and habits
Lathyrus latifolius is a perennial herbaceous vine (climber), which can reach 6 feet or more by means of twining tendrils, but in open areas sprawls. It is frost-hardy, long-lived, and slowly spreading. The foliage becomes rather ragged and yellowish by the end of summer.
It requires partial to full sun, and loam or clay-loam soil that is moist, mesic, or slightly dry. Unlike the related annual sweet pea, Lathyrus odoratus, with which it may be confused, it has no scent. While grown as a garden plant it may be pervasive and difficult to remove. Because of this, this species is often considered to be a weed despite its attractive appearance."
I saw a lot of these deep coloured perennial peas during last night's walk.... Also a very few pale pink/ white specimens.
One last photograph from my shoot with the stunningly beautiful Eilish Murtha over the summer. We sat in my garden with a forest of sweet peas and we chattered away whilst snapping photos as the sun went down. Check out the full shoot here
I love Sweet Peas. Their fragrance is amazing!
The colorful and fragrant sweet pea is a favorite in cottage gardens and other informal garden styles. It is most often seen trained up trellises or fences, but can also be planted in containers where it spills over the sides. For many of us, fast-growing sweet peas are an instant nostalgic reminder of the beautiful, rambunctious gardens maintained by our grandparents. Plant your sweet peas in late winter or early spring, depending on your growing zone. Sweet peas are very easy to grow, and they provide beautiful color in garden spaces.
