Pink splashes of Sweet Peas spread contagiously throughout my old garden in attempts to remind me there is possibility, there is hope.
…… Another ‘at home’ day doing a few little jobs and trying to avoid the heat! Jill found a shady spot to harvest the Blackcurrants and picked the Sweet peas which have had another flurry - and they made it to be my #191 picture of the day again! Taken on my Phone in Apple RAW and edited in Lightroom. Alan:-)

sigh.
while i was on travel last week, pea got into a scrap with one of my ex-wife's dogs over some doggy treat. (she stays with the ex- and the kids while i'm out of town). pea ended up with two puncture wounds on her legs and an infection. i took her to the vet today to get her fixed up rather than take the risk of it getting worse.
$300...
sigh.
but i love her, so whatcha gonna do.
My PC had a major malfunction and I had to hire someone to rescue the thousands of photos I had stored on there (I'm not entirely stupid, many of them are on archival disks as well as on he Internet) and transfer them to my Mac ProBook. I found this in the batch and it really lifted my mood.

Today would have been my parents' 69th Wedding Anniversary! (But my Dad died just before their 31st Wedding Anniversary).
We took Zane to visit his Great-Grandma today. Mum enjoyed showing Zane how she was growing Snow Peas.
A spectral Christmas Eve walk at Ivinghoe Beacon.
Despite knowing this walk so well, there were a couple of moments when I lost my bearings in this blanket of fog.
A lot of the farmers around here introduced 3 metre conservation strips around their fields a number of years ago. The idea is to encourage the return of the many endangered species of farmland birds that declined following the introduction of intensive farming techniques. Certainly it seems to have worked with good populations of Skylarks, Meadow Pipits, Yellowhammers and Corn Buntings at this location. Not that I saw any in this pea souper!

well...not exactly self sufficient, but it's a good start.
Last year we has six peas in total....I was heavily pregnant at this point last year and never took the plant out of it's original pot...it tried!

The sweet pea is a flowering plant in the genus Lathyrus in the family Fabaceae, native to Sicily, southern Italy and the Aegean Islands.
It is an annual climbing plant, growing to a height of 1–2 metres, where suitable support is available.
You see them in many Summergardens, to be planted every year!

Using dried peas to put in my bottle reminded me of the fun I used to have with a 'pea shooter' when I was a child. I wonder if you can still buy them! (-:
This turned out to be a very technical challenge for me. Mostly because I decided I wanted to do it in macro.
So after a very physical fight with the light source, and overwhelming my retinas, I did start to get the effect I was looking for.
But I realised I was going to have to compromise. This macro only has six blades that control the aperture (you can see the hexagonal "circles" of confusion in the left of the image) so you only get six rays on the flare. My other macro gives me an 18 point flare, but I can't get close enough for the frame that I want. I tried cropping those images, but when I looked at these ones on the bigger screen and realised there were tiny multicoloured sparkles on the petal itself, that was it, decision made.
I think I will have another go at this, because this definitely isn't the finished image I was hoping for, but I feel like it's so close to the idea I had in my head at the start that I'm not going to worry about it too much now.
(In case you are into sweet peas, this is my husband's favourite purple and white variety, whose name I can never remember, so I call it "The Ghosty One". It smells amazing.)
