"Pea-souper" it may not have been (as the old expression for London fog goes) but the one which descended on London last Sunday (grounding planes here and over continent) must have left passengers screaming for wind to blow it away.
Yet it lasted for 4 days. Some persistent London fog indeed.

Today would have been my parents' 69th Wedding Anniversary! (But my Dad died just before their 31st Wedding Anniversary).
We took Zane to visit his Great-Grandma today. Mum enjoyed showing Zane how she was growing Snow Peas.

well...not exactly self sufficient, but it's a good start.
Last year we has six peas in total....I was heavily pregnant at this point last year and never took the plant out of it's original pot...it tried!

The sweet pea is a flowering plant in the genus Lathyrus in the family Fabaceae, native to Sicily, southern Italy and the Aegean Islands.
It is an annual climbing plant, growing to a height of 1–2 metres, where suitable support is available.
You see them in many Summergardens, to be planted every year!

Using dried peas to put in my bottle reminded me of the fun I used to have with a 'pea shooter' when I was a child. I wonder if you can still buy them! (-:
This turned out to be a very technical challenge for me. Mostly because I decided I wanted to do it in macro.
So after a very physical fight with the light source, and overwhelming my retinas, I did start to get the effect I was looking for.
But I realised I was going to have to compromise. This macro only has six blades that control the aperture (you can see the hexagonal "circles" of confusion in the left of the image) so you only get six rays on the flare. My other macro gives me an 18 point flare, but I can't get close enough for the frame that I want. I tried cropping those images, but when I looked at these ones on the bigger screen and realised there were tiny multicoloured sparkles on the petal itself, that was it, decision made.
I think I will have another go at this, because this definitely isn't the finished image I was hoping for, but I feel like it's so close to the idea I had in my head at the start that I'm not going to worry about it too much now.
(In case you are into sweet peas, this is my husband's favourite purple and white variety, whose name I can never remember, so I call it "The Ghosty One". It smells amazing.)
This is my second attempt at growing peas. Planted them too late last year; they do not like hot weather!
This is either Burpee organic Oregon Sugar Pod or Burpee Heirloom Mammoth Melting Sugar. Can't remember which I planted where!
I love discovering new treasures by the sea, and I recently stumbled across this Bubble Weed (Chaetomorpha coliformis) which I have never seen before.
This algae is distinguished by it's light to deep green, densely clustered, unbranched, long fronds, made up of chains of large, rounded cells.
It is usually attached to another plant. When living, the cells are rounded but they collapse when dried out.
It is found on moderate to rough-water coasts, or in rock pools. On this particular day I found it along the waters edge in Ocean Grove and was immediately taken with it.

A whirlwind photographic jaunt started with a visit to Spurn Point for sunrise. We were greeted with 'Pea Soup' , thick fog which refused to lift even with the sun high in the sky.

to the spicey dahl curry base was added some extra tomato paste, coconut cream and a small cup of water,
together with fresh kale, fresh mushrooms, cooked chick peas and cooked sliced potato
chick peas and potato were precooked
the lid remained on apart from when the ingredients were stirred
no more spices were added as the curry was spicey enough
i broke the large white plate so went back to the charity shop and bought this large yellow plate, sunny and bright :)
