Anthony's moved on to peas now. He still has a very good appetite for just about anything, even vitamin & iron supplements.

Operation sweet pea is a project undertaken to promise to the families and children of every servicemen killed in the last 50 years. They intend to have each soldiers name commemorated together on plaques in the Living Memorial so the families will draw some hope and comfort in the knowledge that they will not be forgotten.

WIT: At the grocery store, saw the peas, and took the pic. I like it on black background. In post, adjusted colour, cropped to square, and ate some snap peas for dinner.

I was caught by the beauty of something so simple as a pea when I saw a host of them in a greenhouse at Ryton Organic Gardens

Sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) is a flowering plant in the genus Lathyrus in the family Fabaceae (legumes), native to the eastern Mediterranean region from Sicily east to Crete.

It is an annual climbing plant, growing to a height of 1-2 m where suitable support is available. The leaves are pinnate with two leaflets and a terminal tendril, which twines around supporting plants and structures helping the sweet pea to climb. The flowers are purple, 2-3.5 cm broad, in the wild plant, larger and very variable in colour in the many cultivars.

Sweet peas have been cultivated since the 17th century and a vast number of cultivars are commercially available. They are often grown by gardeners for their bright colours and the sweet fragrance that gives them their name.
