We got our first snowfall yesterday so I went out to the back yard to play, but just for a few minutes because it was so cold! We aren't used to this kind of weather in Vancouver, and apparently there's more to come. What to do but photography and try to stay warm.
I just want to let you know how much I appreciate all of you and your visits and kind comments on my images. All my wonderful friends here on Flickr have turned my world around - thank you!

Alnes is a small community on the island Godøy outside the city of Ålesund where I live. It's one of my favourite places for photoshoots and I'm certainly not alone with that love. One of my flickr albums is named Alnes. Enjoy it. Behind the lighthouse there's nothing but the Atlantic ocean - until you get washed up on a shore on the northern part of the Faroe Islands.
Iceland October 2014 at sunset
I shot 90 minutes of pictures from just before sunset till about an hour after the Sun went down and I am still working on them. This one is my favourite so far, a beautiful place that is worth a visit if you are in the area.

Snukwa is the Lummi word for Great Blue Heron.
I was taking a photo of the patterns made by the farmer's furrows. There was a commotion in the lower right of the photo and Snukwa surprised me by popping up in the middle of my shot.
I could have named this , 'Photobomber'.
This photo was processed with iPhoto. I did not adjust much, if anything at all. The link below is a photo from the same day converted to black and white. The black and white was processes with Lightroom. There is a link to the tutorial that helped produce the dramatic sky. There is the other photo: flic.kr/p/JgEugu

I saw this old guy while driving around La Grange, Texas. It's the very first jail house build in the town. Now it's being used as the City of La Grange Visitor’s Bureau and office space for the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce. In the mid-1930’s, two members of the infamous Bonne and Clyde gang, Raymond Hamilton and Gene O’ Dare were held here for robbing the Carmine Bank.
Here's more info:
Fayette County opened its first jail in July, 1838. The cost of the first structure was $460. It was a primitive structure; prisoners were ironed and chained but within 10 years the building was sold. With no jail, prisoners were parceled out to various citizens for safekeeping. The plan worked until a murderer’s apprehension made arrangements for his incarceration in another town necessary.
In 1852, plans were finalized for a new jail that was in use by 1854. This jail was built by German immigrant Heinrich Kreishe, who was a stone mason by trade when he immigrated. You can see his work still at the Monument Hill/ Kreishe Brewery State Park.
By the early 1880’s, the need for a more modern and larger jail was evident and work began on the structure we now call the Old Jail. In November 1881, the county commissioners selected the Victorian Gothic design of Andrewarthe & Wahrenberger as the new look. The building was opened in 1883.

Patience is a virtue as they say. My shooting partner, friend and ace photographer Mike Ryan of Michael Ryan Photography and myself have been patiently waiting for some scenes to come alive with the winter rains. Mike puts in tireless hours of scouting and researching areas, including myself, but not to the level of Mike. We have been bouncing around the Sonoma, Mendocino and Humboldt coastlines in search of beauty and solitude. When it all comes together it can be quite rewarding.

Autumn in the Netherlands, part nine , the palette
And so it is time for another reflections photo. Unbelievable how fast time goes , just a few more autumn pictures to go before everything goes less colourful, sigh. Looking outside we see winter approaching , just grey, no white. Anyways , here's a fine scene , a crooked tree, fall leaves on the water and autumn colours reflected in it , enjoy.
