The walk between Penzance to Marazion in Cornwall, UK will always live in my memory as a peak moment - one of the most beautiful that I have ever taken. St. Michael's Mount hovers on the horizon and the sea beckons in this "dreamscape"

A field of barley.

landscape around Austnesfjord on the Lofoten islands, Northern Norway. The summers are so beautiful that the mind has trouble getting to grips with it while the senses are going crazy ;)

Not the famous Glenfinnan viaduct i'm afraid, this wee one's on the shores of Loch Nan Uamh / Glen Mama, South Morar.

Capturing the train was a real bonus as i just went down to photograph the viaduct !

Mind you, i did hear it coming :)

Just thought i'd share this one .. View of Hathersage Church August 2016 , Peak district , UK

About the shot:

This was shot on the same night as my last star trail post. I shot this one first but after reviewing the shots on the cameras display, I decided to turn away from the light pollution and shot the other direction out of my target composition. I was going to trash this one because the light pollution was so horrible. But I managed to fix it up in post and the final result looked pretty good.

Insights:

Star Trails are great and it gives you something else to shoot if the Milky Way isn't available for a composition, you know what they say, the show must go on. :)

About The Location:

This formation is also know as balanced rock and the juniper is a western juniper and I was told by the ranger is estimated to be some 1800 years old. I know it looks scrawny, but this thing is a marvel, it grows directly out of a crack in the granite(No soil?). This tree has seen better days from what I can tell, there were 4 branches sprouting off of the main trunk with this one now being the only survivor.

How I did it:

There are 3 lights used for this scene at different angles. one is behind me on my left, a second is behind the tree facing the stone, and a third is lighting the coyotes den that is 15ft from the stones right side on the left side of the photo, that panel was sitting on a tripod shining directly down the barrow covering the opening. I figured that if I covered the opening and one were to exit the den, it would knock over the panel alerting me of it's exit. This was an active den as was evidenced by fresh tracks and some sounds now and then emanating from it's depths. This made it somewhat difficult to nap during the exposures which is what I was trying to do during the first shot. This is a shorter series then the last shot. It is 80 images shot over a period of 45 mins Here's a link to the other star trail photo taken from the other direction. Hope you like it !! :)

Hot Tip of the Day:

If you are planning to shoot some star trails, try to bring along something to sit or rest on. I use a Kool Team Green sitting pad that I purchased at the California Speedway which I had to run back to the car and grab during one of the exposures, leaving my camera unattended for a short period of time. It's lite and easily attaches onto the outside of my camera pack. :)

If you have any other questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

LOVE IS LIKE A BUTTERFLY – DOLLY PARTON

SEPTEMBER DANCES

Butterfly kisses tickling my cheek

with gentle soft wings fluttering and meek

whispered words brushing my ears

caressing my skin

warm and golden

sun-kissed and velvety peach texture

such fine downy feelings

dreamy, delightful and meaningful glances

that conjure up September dances

of love and longing

such sweet all-embracing

touching and tracing our finger tips

down profiles so gleaming

in the subtly revealing

after-glow that left us

belonging and longing for more

knowing that this may be all that we have

let us savour the moments,

so precious and glad

to have gifted this time to each other.

This charming cypress grove in the midst of grain fields is situated just outside of San Quirico on the road to Montalcino. Another photographic and accordingly frequented icon of Val d'Orcia.

I found this to be an incredible place for someone to erect their house in Iceland: straight below a monstruous rift in the mountain. Can you imagine the amount of melt water coming down after a long winter?

The winter and the cold wave came to Switzerland.

With this picture I did not make it easy for me. At first I really could not decide which photo to put on flickr. I wrestled with myself, because I would like to present the most beautiful photo for my friends here. Secondly, the picture was made under very difficult external conditions, because it was really "bitterly cold". I could barely touch my hands after photographing and yet I wanted to get a nice photo of these beautiful ice crystals. I succeeded, more or less, because the background was not ideal for that. In addition, my faithful friend Roco had to wait for me and there I no longer want to start one try after another. This time I did not want to make any compromises with the warm colors of the picture, because the cold should be very touchable. I believe this has succeeded with this picture. I am fascinated by this "little work of art". Each little detail is a miracle of creation, because it was shaped by the elements of nature and radiates its brilliance as long as this nature allows.

I am grateful for these little things without which life would not be so beautiful and interesting.

Rejoice over the elements of nature.

Erwin

I thank you all for the interest and enthusiasm for my work here. I am happy about every comment from you and every time you like my pictures. Thank you very much for all the favorites and for watching my photos.

Small supplement of today:

The winter has caught up with me too, for I am terribly cold. Nevertheless, or just because of this, I am looking forward to every single word from you. Also, I always see in the little things, which makes the importance and beauty of life. Wish all of you a blessed time, without illness and with much love and joy. Hope you can all be in a nice warm place, because outside it is extremely cold here. Brrrrrr .....

The Fairy Pools are a natural waterfall phenomenon in Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye. The vivid blues and greens of the pools suggest an unnatural origin. They are a popular place for wild swimmers.

The habitat of the Fairy Pools hosts a variety of animals, such as red deer, rabbits, and sheep. The area is also host to a large number of birds. Large flocks of crows, ravens, and gulls are present in the area, as well as such smaller birds as meadow pipits, turnstones, common ringed plovers, grey herons, dunlins, and curlews. The physical landscape is predominately rocky, with some boggy areas here and there. The water in the area is typically cold.

The Fairy Pools are a popular location for walkers. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Fairy Pools from the Glen Brittle car park.

Something changes when autumn comes. The sun shines different, the air becomes misty and wet, the colors turns into warm tones.
