....In the backyard where my normal fire pit is, we had a couple huge white pine top limbs during the storm last Monday get stuck high above it and on a maple tree next to it, creating a potential hazard if they come down below on us or dogs. Waiting for the busy tree trimmers to show up. So, in the meantime until then I used an old steel wheel, cleaned up & painted for a temporary pit.
I sautéed mushrooms & onions, grilled steaks today and my wife made the mash potatoes & creamed cucumber sides.

Covered Barbeque Cooking: a booklet that came with the Weber Covered Barbeque Kettle. No date or illustrator given.
The back cover has an illustrative style that's a tad different from what's inside, even though they were done by the same artist.
Suggestions for Outdoor Cooking, from Royal Chef Grills. No mention of copyright date or illustrator.
Some nice pen & ink illustrations accompanying a simple outdoor grilling cookbook. The cover wasn't anything worth writing home about so I wasn't expecting much when I found this at a flea market several years back. I was pleasently surprised to see a few illos that had some character to 'em.

My two "Brothers from another Mother" (they're actual brothers) and I often send each other pics of us relaxing by a fire. Over the years I've casually mentioned that out in the woods where I live, I spend a lot of time without clothes, but I wasn't sure they took me seriously. Wanting to be more open about being a naturist, I sent them both a couple pics to prove it. They were slightly surprised, but it didn't cause any problems, at all. Now, they casually mention me being naked in the course of normal conversation.
Testing my new Gerber Strongarm while sampling a prototype T.V.J. dehydrated cabbage, beef and chili stew. Both very satisfying.
The stove is a Bushcooker wood gasification stove the pot is a 12 cm. Zebra billy can.
Another 50's outdoor food tray. Same illustrations as the yellow round tray, just rearranged differently. Probably part of a set. (I've seen smaller trays and plates with the same illos on them.)

Actually a Jack Daniels cookbook and coffee that is. Just a little reading material for my coffee break at work. I read cookbooks like any other book, from front to back. I've found more than a few recipes that I would like to try out of this book
A couple of the recipes I would like to try are the dressing for fresh tomato slices and supreme burgers, The farmhouse chicken fried steak recipe has me a bit curious also. The recipe actually calls for a cup of shredded cheese,
Mr Chiots and I spent a week traveling through New England, mostly Maine. We enjoyed camping on the ocean for a few days. Camping is such a wonderfully relaxing thing to do. There's nothing like cooking breakfast and enjoying coffee while watching the tide come it.
