Sorry to find out that Pearl Paint (on Canal St. NY) closed its doors earlier this year ... I remember visiting this location a few times, it was always fun and inspiring.

Loved this shoot. Was the last before a 2.5 month break for sheltering in place. What a way to go out though.

Fed up of waiting for someone to build them a classy wine bar, some of the Integrity dolls (Mina, Erin, Alex and Polynesian Poppy) risk a visit to Toyville's local dive, the Clearance Bin. It's also an opportunity to comfort Polynesian Poppy after the break-up of her latest relationship.

"... all I'm saying," Alex suggests helpfully, " is it might help if you actually told one of them your name!"

Polynesian Poppy pouts.

"Still no name for her yet, then?" asks Mina.

"Not even a hint of one," copper-haired Erin shakes her head, "I reckon it's got to be something exotic and South Seasy..."

"You think the big guy is really that imaginative when it comes to our names?" snarks Mina, "I'm still Mina, you're still Erin... nah. Let's see... oh, it's obvious; she's a little too tanned but the moody pout, the raven hair - sooner or later he's going to name her Sasha."

"What, no! I don't want to be named after her!" protests Sasha... in vain.

The Great Smoky Mountains were logged extensively beginning in the 1880s, and by the early 1900s the area around Elkmont had been stripped of much of its timber. By 1910, affluent Knoxvillians had begun building summer hunting and fishing cabins in the area, and when the US Government established the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1934, many of the families who owned cabins and cottages arranged to be able to continue to lease the land from the government, an arrangement that lasted until 1992 for most of the properties.

There has been some controversy about whether to restore or demolish the buildings, and in 2009 the Park Service announced plans to restore the Appalachian Clubhouse and 18 cabins in that area. The remainder will be left to be reclaimed by the forest. I come up to check on them every 6 months or so, and it seems to me that the process is happening pretty rapidly.

I’m not sure which cabin this is. It is on the stretch called Society Hill, on Jakes Creek. Only a few on that stretch are going to be preserved, and it’s pretty obvious this is not one of them.

This is an HDR image made up of 3 shots, one stop apart. I liked the contrast of the rich colors and the deterioration of the scene.

i'm realizing that by taking pictures everyday..

i am becoming more and more satisfied with my art because i feel like it is conveying the truth behind each photograph.

spilling reality onto a canvas.

reality that is seen,

and reality that is unseen.

today was so challenging.. so beautifully challenging.

i wish you could all come to my church at least once.

i wish you could be broken by words like i am.

i wish you could know how loved you are. how gorgeous and precious you are.

i wish you could feel alive too.

im sure some of you do, but i know that some of your are hurt beyond relief and you don't know what to do anymore...you don't feel things anymore and you feel meaningless.

but you are not.

my heart goes out to you.

because you need to know that your are wonderfully made.

and you have a purpose.

and you have a maker.

and you need a savior.

and you need to know you are loved.

and you need this soon.

you need this now.

because you can't go on any longer like this.

i know because i have been there.

i know because i have been saved from it.
