A view from the other end and opposite side of the bridge shows much the same: an apparently intact structure that has been forgotten. Since last used only 50 years ago, the bridge has become overgrown with bushes and even small trees.
I've discovered much of the EBT railroad because of Vagel Keller's fine "unofficial guide":
www.spikesys.com/EBT/ebt_guid.html
I've driven past Aughwick Mills many times without considering anything might be there. I never realized that much of the railroad seen along route 522 is disused EBT track. Keller's guide indicates one of the earliest extant reinforced concrete bridges is there, dating to 1914. Some note it may be the first:

Austria's land power (Macht zu Lande, 1897) by Edmund von Hellmer. Hofburg palace, Vienna, Austria. Viewed head-on, it appears a traditionally heroic emperor vanquishes all foes. From below, it is a desperate scene. From another perspective there is the illusion that one fearful subject is reaching out to you, perhaps seeking a helping hand.
Languid tones and rigid timing
The soft whisper of sampled voices
And the percussion of the mix
All of this wraps around my mind
And my body moves beyond my control.

While social distancing rules are in effect, you can dance if you want to. This gentleman brought his own music one warm spring day and entertained many passersby. If I recall correctly, this move accompanied the echoing piano early in Sugarloaf's Green Eyed Lady, one of the few songs my aged ears recognized.

The Harris shutter effect combines red, green, and blue (filtered) images to generate a composite color image. Things that move between exposures appear as colored ghosts against the static background.

This modified Harris Shutter Effect image generates colored "ghosts" on a black background. Things that move and other differences between three more-or-less sequential photos are emphasized while static features turn black. Imperfect registration can leave a faint outline of background details.
Three frames were registered on the selected subject before a subtractive filter Harris shutter effect composite was generated. Another person in the frame was moving laterally, becoming a group of three in the final image.

This invasive weed, probably Corn Speedwell (Veronica arvensis) in the Scrophulariaceae (Figwort) family, is growing all over the Audubon sanctuary, forming short flowers that don't get chopped off by the mower. They appear as tiny white specks in the lawn, becoming more detailed up close.

Three frames taken hand-held were registered before abstracting red, green, and blue channels from sequential images. The color layers recombined to generate this image.

This modified Harris Shutter Effect image of a yard sign during heavy snowfall emphasizes things that move and other differences between three sequential photos while turning the background black. Falling snow acts as "white noise" against darker objects, rendering their outline in surreal, multicolored streaks.

This statue, near Washington's chapel in Valley Forge, memorializes women who died in childbirth. The viewer's normal perspective is from above, rendering the subject faceless and anonymous. I imagined that a view from below might offer a different glimpse of the subject. Regrettably, the face is still underexposed. Interestingly, the weepy trails of corrosion add feeling the artist may not have intended.

On a recent trip I tried to change my perspective by leaving an IR filter on the lens most of the time. This effectively lowers resolution, slows shutter speed, necessitates wide aperture and makes me think differently about composition. An additional challenge was that only very bright elements were visible through the glare of daylight on the camera's view screen.

I recently picked up an omnibus edition of the first five Warlord of Mars books, now in the public domain. They are just as gripping to read as an adult as they were years ago. But the racial aspects are harder to ignore this time around. I have been reading what others think on the topic - perhaps meta reading the book? Unfortunately, Burroughs thought eugenics a good idea. He was also a resident of Hawaii and a proponent of interring Japanese Americans in World War II. (The Futility Closet recently reminded us that the Niihau incident was used to enact the camps and I wonder if it influenced his thinking.) But he recreated all Earthly races on this warlike fantasy world, alongside a few others. The race most closely similar to his own (Therns) had no redeeming characters whatsoever. All others had noble and despicable characters alike, suggesting something other than simple stereotypes were at work.
The crowning rays, reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty, caught my attention. The haughty visage seems more natural from this perspective. A full-length image, from a different perspective, may be found here.
Alone in the darkness
My passion burns bright.
Alone in my stillness
I light up the night.
The soft thrum of my heart
Assures me, I’m alive
With its calming presence
Fighting the grief
That wants, wants, wants
To tear me apart.

Most college students do their drinking downtown, even on a Tuesday evening. Responsible imbimers either walk home or call a ride.
Utata's summer project 2016 invites us to go... something.
The "go drinking" category is explicitly tied to temperance, and thus alcohol themed.

Technical Trivia
The high speed burst mode of my aging SP550UZ camera was used to capture people in motion.
Problem: The burst mode reduces resolution and makes the color less pleasing. The purpose of this series is to explore ways to make the images more pleasing. The presumption is that B&W conversion will minimize distracting artifacts. The original image and some intermediate processing is shown in the first comment.
Aggressive black level enhancement:
- Generate a copy
- Use 'curves' tool to set bottom 15% of colors to black (V in HSV color space)
- Composite with original using soft light transformation at 50% opacity.
- Convert to B&W using a green filter
- Noise reduction with Noise Ninja Pro (default mode unless specified)
Utata's Iron Photographer challenge 212 requests:
1 - a thing in the palm of your hand (tomato)
2 - your hand resting on a flat surface (bread)
3 - holga-fied (light leak, vignetting, square)
Holga-fied is not well defined, but the requisites I ran across included square, vignetting, and light leaks (among others). I used gradient masks in Lightroom to botch together a light leak across the palm, added heavy vignetting to darken corner distractions, and cropped square. But is it sufficiently holga-ish?
