"Hand in glove
The sun shines out of our behinds"
Lyrics from another time
An era that I love
And a more innocent version of myself
Singing loudly (and lustily)
As the wind whips through our hair
From the open car windows.

Relativity Perspective (moving subject reference frame)
Details
This modified Harris Shutter Effect image generates colored "ghosts" on a black background. frames were registered on the moving subject before processing. Things that move and other differences between three more-or-less sequential photos are emphasized while static features turn black.

Composite images with a moving subject reference frame
Overheard: "As art I'd give it a zero, too!"
Utata's Iron Photographer challenge 240 asked for compositions with:
1 - a card (wallet ID card)
2 - a small figurine (either gossipy planter)
3 - square format
This vignette at a bus stop was photographed while the camera moved (me walking). Three successive images were registered on the stationary person before generating a subtractive filter Harris Shutter Effect (HSE) image. The person was so well registered in each frame that they disappeared into a black void in the composite. This detail was restored by blending with the stacked (SNR) image through a mask.

About Project Toy:
On a busy holiday trip I kept a small number of toys in pocket, hoping for opportunity to improvise something in or around Atchison's old houses.
Christmas eve brought a full moon and intermittent clouds, here over the highway and service station..
I imagined Wile E. Coyote, as interpreted by Don Martin, might have an ad for the ACME instant runway kit.
Elements of Utata's Iron photographer 190 challenge:
1 - a single sheet of paper (a roll is a long one)
2 - something suspended (airplane)
3 - soft focus (Picasa's soften function improves paper texture)
Utata's Iron photographer No. 194 elements:
1 - a building
2 - black and white
3 - vignetting
I revisited Pawlings farm with IP194 eyes, trying to see things a little differently.
I am working through the free trial of DXO Photolab 2017, looking at archived images. Filmpack 3 has a few more simulated films, allowing quick and pleasing contrast enhancement. The Adox CMS20 preset is extremely dark but, on increasing exposure by 1ev, allows separation of low and midtones while brightening highlights acceptably.
A guitarist playing at the Phoenixville, PA farmer's market in 2011 was photographed for a motion study. He was swaying and rocking to his own beat.

Why am I on this stupid float?
The laughter and screaming are boring.
I'd rather be home with watching TV
our out with my buddies exploring.
Kid, you're missing out on all the fun.
Get off that float and enjoy
all the sights and sounds to be had.
Don't regret what you missed, boy.

Utata's Iron photographer challenge 217 asks for:
1 - a cartoon figure (Hobbes)
2 - something used in cooking (garlic press)
3 - noir (darkness, shadows)
Due credit to the original artist
Calvin and Hobbes was created by Bill Watterson in 1985. He famously and effectively fought merchandising of the characters noting 'Only thieves and vandals have made money on Calvin and Hobbes merchandise'. I am conflicted about sharing art on bootleg concert t-shirts illicitly derived from his creation. It could undermine the market or, conversely, promote it. I'm curious what others think.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Looking from Kansas towards the bluffs in Missouri, across the Missouri river, I caught some rapidly fading color of the rising sun on Jan 1. I was just five minutes too late.
Note: daylight white balance was used for most accurate color.

Processing Note: Partial palette replacement (Topaz Restyle, 50% of one copied from a greenish Xpro Fuji Sensia image).

I couldn't make a Thursday walk, so I went Friday this week. The lights hanging over the alley are for summer dining from an adjacent restaurant. I like the way the rain accumulates on the wires and finally managed an image that conveys this well.
Technical Details:
The original image was manipulated in Topaz restyle to improve contrast but over saturated colors in spots. This was mitigated by preparing a B&W image then blending with the first - for a digitally constructed bleach bypass effect.

Kodak Umax 400, contrast enhanced with DXO filmpack (Kodachrome 64 preset)
Processing notes:
Intentionally overexposed image was contrast enhanced with a "Daidoish" preset (exposure, contrast, and clear-view increased; blacks increased and whites decreased in curves to clip blacks and highlights)
The small-town coffee shop does brisk business most mornings, but there is still plenty of time for an artist to create different signs each day. I'm not certain whether I would earn reproval for buying no coffee or whether buying hot coffee would meet similar disdain.
Technical Trivia
The camera was accidentally placed in jpg mode, precluding extensive processing. To mitigate an overexposure problem Topaz Restyle was used to modify the color palette (City Lights VIII preset, 50% normal blending mode), darkening the image with minimal color shift.
"Inhale this but do not touch" said the Man in Black, offering a vial of Iocaine powder. The label for this suggests it is dangerous to ingest or get on the skin - but you can inhale it if you dare:
Cresolene
Cresolene is a product of coal tar of a germicidal strength twice as great as carbolic acid. A remedy for whooping cough, spasmodic croup, asthma, catarrh, bronchitis, coughs, colds, the bronchial complications of scarlet fever and measles, and as an aid in the treatment of diphtheria.
To be used only in the CRESOLENE vaporizer.
For directions for use see the vaporizer box or circular.
Inert substance water 1%
Vapo-cresolene co., 62 Cortlandt Street, New York, N.Y. U.S.A.
CAUTION! Poison if taken internally.
In case of accident give at once large doses of whiskey, brandy, vinegar or alcohol. If it falls on the skin apply the same.
A teaspoonful of cresolene to a quart of water makes a powerful liquid germicide and antiseptic wash. See circular for directions.
Notes
Edward Saksenhaus shares a photo of the complete vapo-cresolene system. The stuff was placed in a candle heated lamp, allowing the soothing vapors of fresh tar to do their magic as you sleep.

Iron photographer 209 requests:
1 - something that represents a pastime
2 - something that represents your work
3 - cross processing
I imagined the image needed color for the cross processing to be apparent, so I included some preserves I made. Food is my responsibility, but the clock better represents work for me. The clip-on lenses are for all those tiny pastimes that are getting too hard to see as I age. I recently saw a child's deck of Pokemon cards and realized that even there was text too small for my squinting eyes,
Monotropa Uniflora, also known as ghost plant, corpse plant, or indian pipe, is a parasitic herbaceous perennial plant. As a parasite it needs no chlorophyll, instead deriving necessary energy from its host - commonly mycorrhizal fungi. This macro image tests an in-camera focus stacking feature.
