C’est à l'origine l'église abbatiale de style d'un monastère construit au 12e siècle. Elle prend d’abord le nom du fondateur de cette abbaye, Saint Laumer. Sa construction débute au 12e siècle. Le chœur, le transept et la première travée de la nef sont construits de 1138 à 1186. L'église est terminée au début du 13e siècle. Elle se caractérise par ses 3 élégantes flèches. L'église est au Moyen Âge un lieu important de pèlerinage. Elle abrite en effet plusieurs reliques : Saint Lubin, Saint Laumer, Sainte Marie l'Égyptienne et un fragment de la croix du Christ.
La ville de Blois est reconnue pour son château qui fut la résidence favorite des rois de France à la Renaissance, soit celle de 7 rois et de 10 reines de France. Situé au cœur de la ville de Blois, sur la rive droite de la Loire, le château royal de Blois réunit, avec quatre ailes disparates (La Salle des États vestige médiéval, l’Aile gothique de Louis XII, l’Aile Renaissance de François 1er et l’Aile classique de Gaston d’Orléans) mais formant un tout harmonieux autour d’une même cour, un panorama de l’architecture française du Moyen Âge à l’époque classique qui en fait un édifice clef pour la compréhension de l'évolution de l'architecture au fil des siècles.

Le origini del Teatro risalgono all’inizio del XVIII secolo quando Vittorio Amedeo II decise di commissionare all’architetto Filippo Juvarra la progettazione e la costruzione di un nuovo grande teatro nell’ambito del più generale riassetto urbano della Piazza Castello.
L’intento venne però perfezionato solo qualche anno più tardi da Carlo Emanuele III (incoronato re nel 1730) il quale, in seguito alla morte di Juvarra, scelse di affidare il progetto all’architetto Benedetto Alfieri con la richiesta di progettare un teatro di grande prestigio. Il «Regio Teatro» di Torino, edificato nel tempo record di due anni, venne inaugurato il 26 dicembre del 1740 con l’Arsace di Francesco Feo, diventando subito un punto di riferimento internazionale per la capienza – circa 2.500 posti tra platea e cinque ordini di palchetti –, le magnifiche decorazioni della sala fra le quali spiccava la volta dipinta da Sebastiano Galeotti, gli imponenti scenari e le attrezzature tecniche, nonché la qualità delle rappresentazioni.
Ogni stagione aveva inizio il 26 dicembre, si concludeva con la fine del Carnevale e comprendeva due nuove opere serie composte appositamente per il Teatro: nel corso del XVIII secolo scrissero per il Regio celebri compositori italiani come Galuppi, Jommelli, Cimarosa, Paisiello e autori stranieri come Gluck, Johann Christian Bach e Hasse; vi cantarono inoltre i più celebri castrati e prime donne dell’epoca, contribuendo in modo determinante al successo degli spettacoli. Non minore interesse suscitavano i danzatori, che si esibivano nei due balli entr’acte e nell’azione coreografica finale che corredavano ogni opera.

Nel clima moralizzatore degli anni repubblicani è abolito il gioco d’azzardo e viene proibito l’ingaggio dei castrati (che torneranno in epoca imperiale). In repertorio continuano a esserci opere italiane, con libretti rimaneggiati più o meno superficialmente in senso giacobino. Napoleone presenzia agli spettacoli in tre occasioni e giungono a Torino interpreti di prima grandezza, come il soprano Isabella Colbran, il tenore Nicola Tacchinardi e il coreografo Salvatore Viganò.
1815-1870
Architettura neoclassicaCon la Restaurazione, il teatro rientra in possesso dei Savoia. All’epoca di Carlo Felice, grande appassionato di musica, calcano le scene del Regio virtuosi come Giuditta Pasta e Domenico Donzelli, ma nell’Ottocento Torino perde importanza rispetto a Milano, Napoli e Venezia.
Sotto Carlo Alberto la sala riceve un’impronta neoclassica (sottolineata dai lavori di rifacimento affidati a Ernesto Melano e Pelagio Palagi). Alla metà del secolo vengono introdotte alcune novità nella programmazione: si passa alla stagione di Carnevale-Quaresima, articolata in cinque o più opere, ora prevalentemente di repertorio (e non più scritte appositamente per il Teatro). Inoltre a partire dal Barbiere di Siviglia rossiniano (1855), il Regio si apre all’opera buffa.
Un nuovo restauro, realizzato da Angelo Moja nel 1861, cancella le modifiche palagiane conferendo alla sala una veste “neobarocca”.
1870-1936
Programma illustrato del decimottavo Concerto Popolare sotto la direzione del Maestro Cavalier Carlo Pedrotti, Teatro Vittorio Emanuele, 1876Nel 1870 la proprietà del Regio passa al Comune di Torino; in questi anni la storia del Teatro si intreccia con quella dell’Orchestra Civica e dei Concerti Popolari ideati da Carlo Pedrotti, il quale apporta forti innovazioni nel repertorio introducendo nella programmazione la musica di Wagner e Massenet. Nel nome di Wagner è pure l’esordio in Teatro di Arturo Toscanini, che collabora con l’Orchestra dal 1895 al 1898 e che il 26 dicembre 1905, dopo i lavori di ristrutturazione guidati da Ferdinando Cocito, inaugura la nuova sala con il Sigfrido.
Altri autori significativi nella storia del Regio sono Giacomo Puccini, che tiene a battesimo a Torino Manon Lescaut (1893) e La bohéme (1896), e Richard Strauss, che nel 1906 dirige Salome in “prima” italiana. L’ultima grande “prima” ospitata dal Regio antico è Francesca da Rimini di Riccardo Zandonai, su libretto di Gabriele D’Annunzio (1914). Dopo la chiusura nel periodo bellico, il Teatro si dedica a opere di repertorio.
Nella notte tra l’8 e il 9 febbraio 1936 il Teatro viene distrutto da un violento incendio: saranno necessari quasi quarant’anni per la sua ricostruzione.
1936-1973
ConcorsoDopo l’incendio del 1936, si pone il problema di stabilire a chi affidare il progetto di ricostruzione del Teatro. Il bando di concorso, pubblicato nel 1937, viene vinto dagli architetti Aldo Morbelli e Robaldo Morozzo della Rocca.
Il loro progetto, tuttavia, non si sarebbe mai concretizzato: nel 1965, infatti, l’amministrazione civica promuove una nuova soluzione con l’affidamento dell’incarico all’architetto Carlo Mollino e all’ingegner Marcello Zavelani Rossi. I lavori hanno inizio nel settembre 1967 per concludersi nei primissimi mesi del 1973.
Dal 1973 a oggi
Cancello Teatro Regio, OdisseaIl nuovo Teatro Regio viene inaugurato il 10 aprile 1973 con l’opera di Giuseppe Verdi I vespri siciliani, per la regia di Maria Callas e Giuseppe Di Stefano. Da quella data l’attività produttiva si è progressivamente incrementata, fino alle ricorrenze che hanno segnato la storia degli ultimi anni del Regio: nel 1990 il 250° anniversario dalla sua fondazione, nel 1996 il centenario dalla “prima” assoluta della Bohème in diretta tv, nel 1998 i 25 anni del nuovo teatro (con un importante restauro acustico), nel 2006 la straordinaria avventura dei XX Giochi Olimpici Invernali e delle Olimpiadi della Cultura.
Alla Stagione d’Opera e Balletto, che prevede almeno dieci titoli da ottobre a giugno, si affiancano molte altre attività: concerti sinfonico-corali e cameristici che vedono impegnati l’Orchestra e il Coro del Teatro Regio; una serie di spettacoli allestiti al Piccolo Regio e destinati al nuovo pubblico e alle famiglie; manifestazioni organizzate in collaborazione con le istituzioni locali come Torino Settembre Musica, Torinodanza, RegioneInTour, Punto Verde Giardini Reali e altre; La Scuola all’Opera, fitto calendario di attività e spettacoli destinati a bambini e ragazzi; e poi conferenze, visite guidate e mostre. Tutte manifestazioni che pongono il Teatro Regio al centro della vita culturale e artistica di Torino e del Piemonte ma non solo.

Louis Renault built his first car at Billancourt France, a very small tubular framed machine with a wheelbase of 43 inches and a De Dion engine, driving through a shaft to a bevel gear on the rear axle, at a time when rival manufacturers were mostly using chain or belt drive. The three speed gearbox had direct drive on top gear. Assisted by his brothers he set up the company with production commencing using De Dion or Aster engines, development was on going and by 1902 Renault were using engines of their own design, and were building racing which were an integral part of the company. Marcel Renault won the 1902 in a four cylinder car. A team of six cars were prepared for the 1903 Paris Madrid race, but the race was marred by tragedy, Marcel Renault was killed and the race stopped at Bordeaux, Louis did not race again

No prizes for guessing where this one came from. Its origins in Nottingham are very clear from the bodywork design. Boro'line had by now acquired six of these distinctive beasts, the last two having been pressed into service in Nottingham colours.
The origin of the Firespit class cruiser in unfortunatly lost, although it is believed to have originated from the colony world of Demeter, sometime around 2320. Sold primarily to the Colonial Militia, this is one of the only vessels the Militia acquires firsthand. It is perfect for its duties, being both fast and well-armed, though lacking in shields and armour. However, this does little to reduce its effectiveness, as it usually goas up against pirates or similar threats, which tend to be less well-armed than typical militaries. The Firespit, although capable of high spatial velocities, has poor acceleration, and not vey much handling capabilites as well.
The quality of a Firespit's performance hinges mainly on the training and experience of its captain and crew. The Militia unfortunately by its very nature has a problem with standardising officer training, and weeding out opportunists. Many a freighter has sighed in relief upon the appearance of a Firespit, only to groan in disgust after paying Passage fees, and many a pirate has blanched at the sight of a Firespit, only to easily outmaneuver it, board it and claim it as his own.
The Firespit remains, however, a symbol of order and protection thoughtout the Far Reaches and the Periphery. The actions of the CMS Southampton during the pirates raids of 2346-2351 are textbook examples of how much this vessel type can accomplish given the right crew.

Le château de Courcenay date du XVe siècle. Il n'en reste que des ruines.
Le château de Courcenay, comme ceux de Beauregard et de Chabenet, a appartenu à la famille de Boisé dont le château d'origine est situé à 1 km. au nord (Lieu-dit Boisay).
"Près de Beauregard est le vieux château de Courcenay. Sur la route tracée dans les bois, se trouve, en contrebas une grosse tour entourée d'énormes lierres. Une jolie porte, dont l'écusson est effacé, y donne accès. L'étage supérieur de la tour offre des arêtes. La charpente de cette tour est curieuse. La construction offre les caractères du XVe siècle. La terre de Courcenay fait partie de la celle* de Beauregard. Le régisseur y demeure."

En 1589, René de Boisé, propriétaire de Courcenay, rejoint la Ligue, ces ultras-catholiques qui lors des guerres de Religion critiquèrent la politique royale : selon eux, les traités signés à la suite des batailles, même perdues par les protestants, étaient invariablement favorables à ces derniers. Un an auparavant, Henri III avait fait assassiner le duc de Guise, chef de la Ligue, à Blois. Velles est sur la ligne de front: Argenton-sur-Creuse est protestante et Déols est occupée par la Ligue. René perdra la vie lors d'un accrochage avec les forces d'Henri III et d'Henri de Navarre.
René était l'aîné d'une fratrie; il avait trois jeunes frères et deux soeurs : la plus jeune, Louise, est mariée avec un gentilhomme de Touraine, la plus âgée, Françoise, vit sur les terres de Courcenay. Françoise se fait appeler "Mademoiselle de la Motte", en référence à l'une des possessions familiales. Elle pratique volontiers les armes. A la mort de René, Mademoiselle de la Motte compte bien, en tant que cadette, devenir "chef" de famille, mais René avait désigné son successeur avant sa mort, en la personne de son beau-frère Antoine de Saint Flovier. Françoise commanditera l'agression du beau-frère et l'occupation du château, ce qui la discréditera aux yeux des châtelains du voisinage. C'est le roi Henri IV qui fera libérer le château de Courcenay. Mademoiselle de la Motte finira par se réconcilier avec la famille.

Le même reconnut le 28 Janvier 1437 que fa Fortereffe de Courcenay eft jurable & rendable au Seigneur de Château-roux, il promit & s'obligea tant pour luy que pour fes fucceffeurs de n'impetrer ny faire impetrer Guer ny provifions de Guer, du Roy , de Prince ou d'autre quelconque ayant à ce puiffance, fors que du Seigneur de Château-roux & de fes fucceffeurs, & de jamais croître fa Fortereffe, ny de la faire de plus grande enceinte & étenduë qu'elle étoit alors. Les décendans de Jacques de Boifé font encore aujourd'huy en poffeffion de ce Fief.

1. The spiritual entity Qalb
Prophecy and knowledge relating to this was granted to the Prophet Adam
In the Urdu language the fleshy meat, (the heart) is known as dil, and in Arabic it is called fawad. The spiritual entity that is next to the heart is the Qalb and according to a Prophetic statement the heart and the Qalb are two separate entities.
Our solar system is the physical human sphere. There are other realms and spheres, for example the realm of the angels, the realm of the throne of God, the realm of the soul, the realm of the secrets, the realm of unification and the realm of the essence of God. These spheres and life forms inhabiting these spheres have existed before the eruption of the ball of fire, our Sun, which created our solar system. Ordinary angels were created alongside the creation of the souls when God commanded "Be" but the Archangels and the spiritual entities (which are placed inside the human body at birth) have existed in these realms before the formation of our solar system.
Many planets in our solar system were inhabited but subsequently these life forms became extinct. The remaining planets and their inhabitants are awaiting their destruction. The Archangels and the spiritual entities (of the human body) were created seventy thousand years before the command "Be."
Of these spiritual entities God placed the Qalb in the realm of love. It is with this that a human being is able to become connected with God. The Qalb acts like a telephone operator between God and the human being. A human being receives guidance and inspiration through it. Whereas the worship and the meditation done by the spiritual entities themselves can reach the highest realm, the Throne of God, with the aid of the Qalb. The Qalb itself, however cannot travel beyond the realm of the angels, as its place of origin is the Khuld, the lowest heaven in the realm of the angels.
The Qalb’s meditation is from within and its vibrating rosary is within the human skeleton (the heartbeat). People that failed to achieve this meditation of the Qalb in this lifetime will be regretful, even though they may be in paradise. As God has stated regarding those who will go to paradise, that do they, the inhabitants of paradise think that they will be equal to those who are elevated (reached higher realms by practicing the spiritual disciplines and becoming illuminated). As those that have achieved the meditation of the Qalb, they will enjoy its pleasures even in paradise when their Qalb will be vibrating with the Name of God.
After death physical worship ceases to exist and the people whose Qalb and spiritual entities are not strengthened and illuminated with the light of God are afflicted and distressed in their graves and their spiritual entities waste away. Whereas the illuminated and strengthened spiritual entities will go to the realm where the righteous will wait before the final judgement.
After the day of judgement a second body will be given, the illuminated spiritual entities along with the human soul will enter that body. The people that taught their spiritual entities, meditation, whereby the entities chanted the Name of God Allah in this life time will find that the spiritual entities will continue with this meditation even in the hereafter. Such people will continue to be elevated and exalted in the hereafter.
Those that were “blind of heart” (not illuminated) in this life time will be in darkness in that realm also, as this world was the place of action and effort. Those in the latter category will become quiescent.
Besides the Christians and the Jews the Hindu faith also holds a belief in these spiritual entities. The Hindu faith refers to them as Shaktian and the Muslims know them as Lata’if.
The Qalb is two inches, to the left of the heart. This spiritual entity is yellow in colour. When it is illuminated in a person, that person sees the colour yellow in their eyes. 6. The spiritual entity Anna
This spiritual entity is inside the head and is colourless. It is by the meditation on the Name of God Ya Hu that this spiritual entity reaches its pinnacle. It is this spiritual entity that when it becomes illuminated and powerful it can stand in the Presence of God, face to face, and communicate with God unobstructed. Only the extreme lovers of God reach this realm and station. Besides this there are a few and extremely exalted people who are granted additional spiritual entities, for example the spiritual entity Tifl-e-Nuri or a spiritual entity of the Godhead, Jussa-e-Tofiq-e-Ilahi, the spiritual status of such people is beyond understanding.
With the spiritual entity, Anna, God is seen in the dream state.
With the spiritual entity of the Godhead, God is seen in the “physical meditating state” when the spiritual entity itself leaves the human body and transcends to the essence of God.
Those possessing the spiritual entity, the Tifl-e-Nuri, see God whilst they are fully conscious.
It is these people who are the majesty and power of God in the world. They can either occupy the people by prescribing worship and austerities or by their spiritual grace send a person straight to the realm of God’s love. In their sight, concerning dispensing spiritual grace the believers and the non-believers, the dead and the living are all the same. Just as a thief became a Saint, in an instant, by the passing glimpse of the Saint Sheikh Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani, similarly, Abu-Bakr Havari and Manga the thief, became instant Saints by the passing glimpses of such Saints.
The five major Messengers were given knowledge of the five spiritual entities separately and in order of their appearance, as a result of which spirituality continued to prosper. With whichever spiritual entity you practice meditation you will be connected to the corresponding Messenger and become worthy of receiving spiritual grace (from that Messenger).
Whichever spiritual entity receives the rays of the Grace of God (favour), the Sainthood granted to that spiritual entity will be connected to the corresponding Prophet’s spiritual grace.
Access to seven realms and gaining elevated spiritual status in the seven heavens is obtained through these spiritual entities.

Akhfa: Due to the spiritual entity, Akhfa a person is able to speak. In its absence a person may have a normal tongue but will be dumb. The difference between human beings and animals lies in the presence or the absence of these spiritual entities. At birth, if the entity, Akhfa was unable to enter the body for whatever reason, then a Prophet appointed for the rectification of this ailment would be called to treat the condition as a result of which the dumb would start to speak.
Sirri: A person is able to see due to the spiritual entity, Sirri. If it does not enter the body the person is blind from birth. An appointed Prophet had the duty to find and place the spiritual entity into the body, as a result of which the blind would start to see again.
Qalb: Without the spiritual entity of the Qalb, in the body, a person is like the animals, unacquainted, far from God, miserable and without purpose. Returning this entity into the body was the task of the Prophets also.
The miracles of the Prophets were also granted to the saints, in the form marvels and mystical wonders as a result of which even the impious and liberal became close to God. When a spiritual entity is returned by any allocated Saint or Prophet, the deaf, dumb and the blind are healed.

In the Urdu language the fleshy meat, (the heart) is known as dil, and in Arabic it is called fawad. The spiritual entity that is next to the heart is the Qalb and according to a Prophetic statement the heart and the Qalb are two separate entities.
Our solar system is the physical human sphere. There are other realms and spheres, for example the realm of the angels, the realm of the throne of God, the realm of the soul, the realm of the secrets, the realm of unification and the realm of the essence of God. These spheres and life forms inhabiting these spheres have existed before the eruption of the ball of fire, our Sun, which created our solar system. Ordinary angels were created alongside the creation of the souls when God commanded "Be" but the Archangels and the spiritual entities (which are placed inside the human body at birth) have existed in these realms before the formation of our solar system.
Many planets in our solar system were inhabited but subsequently these life forms became extinct. The remaining planets and their inhabitants are awaiting their destruction. The Archangels and the spiritual entities (of the human body) were created seventy thousand years before the command "Be."
Of these spiritual entities God placed the Qalb in the realm of love. It is with this that a human being is able to become connected with God. The Qalb acts like a telephone operator between God and the human being. A human being receives guidance and inspiration through it. Whereas the worship and the meditation done by the spiritual entities themselves can reach the highest realm, the Throne of God, with the aid of the Qalb. The Qalb itself, however cannot travel beyond the realm of the angels, as its place of origin is the Khuld, the lowest heaven in the realm of the angels.
The Qalb’s meditation is from within and its vibrating rosary is within the human skeleton (the heartbeat). People that failed to achieve this meditation of the Qalb in this lifetime will be regretful, even though they may be in paradise. As God has stated regarding those who will go to paradise, that do they, the inhabitants of paradise think that they will be equal to those who are elevated (reached higher realms by practicing the spiritual disciplines and becoming illuminated). As those that have achieved the meditation of the Qalb, they will enjoy its pleasures even in paradise when their Qalb will be vibrating with the Name of God.
After death physical worship ceases to exist and the people whose Qalb and spiritual entities are not strengthened and illuminated with the light of God are afflicted and distressed in their graves and their spiritual entities waste away. Whereas the illuminated and strengthened spiritual entities will go to the realm where the righteous will wait before the final judgement.
After the day of judgement a second body will be given, the illuminated spiritual entities along with the human soul will enter that body. The people that taught their spiritual entities, meditation, whereby the entities chanted the Name of God Allah in this life time will find that the spiritual entities will continue with this meditation even in the hereafter. Such people will continue to be elevated and exalted in the hereafter.
Those that were “blind of heart” (not illuminated) in this life time will be in darkness in that realm also, as this world was the place of action and effort. Those in the latter category will become quiescent.
Besides the Christians and the Jews the Hindu faith also holds a belief in these spiritual entities. The Hindu faith refers to them as Shaktian and the Muslims know them as Lata’if.
The Qalb is two inches, to the left of the heart. This spiritual entity is yellow in colour. When it is illuminated in a person, that person sees the colour yellow in their eyes. Not only this but there are many practitioners of alternative medicine who use the colours of these spiritual entities to heal people.
Most people regard their heart’s word, “inner feeling” to be truthful. If the hearts of people were indeed truthful, then why are all the people of the heart not united?
The Qalb of an ordinary person is in the sleeping or unconscious state and it does not possess any appreciation or awareness. Due to the dominance of the spirit of the self, the ego, and the Khannas, or due to the individual’s own simple- mindedness the heart can make judgements in error. Placing trust in a sleeping Qalb is foolish.
Only when the Name of God Allah, does vibrate in the heart does an appreciation of right and wrong and wisdom follow. At this stage the Qalb is known as the awakened Qalb. Thereafter due to the increase in the meditation by the Qalb, of the Name of God Allah, it is then known as the God-seeking Qalb. At this stage the heart is capable of preventing the person from doing wrong but it is still incapable of making a right or just decision. Thereafter and only when the Light and the rays of the Grace of God (theophany) start to descend upon that heart, is it known as the purified and illuminated Qalb that stands in the presence of God (witnessing Qalb).
A Prophetic statement:
“The mercy of God descends upon a broken heart and an afflicted grave.”
Thereafter when the heart reaches this stage then one must accept whatever it dictates, quietly without question because due to the rays of the Light and the Grace of God the spirit of the self, (ego) becomes completely illuminated, purified and at peace. God is then closer to that individual than that person’s jugular vein.
God then says, “I become his tongue with which he speaks and I become his hands with which he holds.”
2. The Human Soul
Prophecy and knowledge relating to this was granted to the Prophet Abraham
This is on the right side of the chest. This is awakened and illuminated by the meditation and one-pointed concentration on it. Once it becomes illuminated, a vibration similar to the heartbeat is felt on the right side of the chest. Then the Name of God, Ya Allah is matched with the vibrating pulse. The meditation of the soul is done in this way. At this point, there are now two spiritual entities meditating inside the human body, this is an advancement in rank and status and is better than the Qalb. The soul is a light red in colour and when it is awakened, it is able to travel to the realm of the souls (the station of the Archangel Gabriel). Anger and rage are attached to it that burn and turn into majesty.
3. The spiritual entity Sirri
Prophecy and knowledge relating to this was granted to the Prophet Moses
This spiritual entity is to the left of the centre of the chest. This is also awakened and illuminated by the meditation and one-pointed concentration on it with the Name of God, Ya Hayy, Ya Qayyum. Its colour is white and in the dream state or by spiritual separation from the physical body “transcendental meditation” it can journey to the realm of the secrets. Now there are three spiritual entities meditating within a person and its status is higher than the other two.
4. The spiritual entity Khaffi

This is to the right of the centre of the chest. It too is taught the Name of God Ya Wahid by meditation. It is green in colour and it can reach the realm of unification. Due to the meditation of four entities one's status is further increased.

This is situated at the centre of the chest. It is awakened by meditating on the Name of God, Ya Ahad. It is purple in colour and it too, is connected to that veil in the realm of unification behind which is the throne of God.
The hidden spiritual knowledge relating to these five spiritual entities was granted to the Prophets, one by one and half of the knowledge of every spiritual entity was granted from the Prophets to the Saints of their time. In this way there became ten parts of this knowledge. The Saints in turn passed this knowledge on to the spiritually favoured (Godly) who then had the benefit of the sacred knowledge.
The apparent knowledge of the seen is connected to the physical body, the spoken word, the human realm and the spirit of the self, this is for the ordinary mortals. This knowledge is contained in a book that has thirty parts. Spiritual knowledge was also given to the Prophets by revelation brought by Gabriel and for this reason it is known as the spiritual Holy Scripture.

"Probably of late 14th-century origin. Consists of two round towers, which have a base of ashlar. Above this, the ground floor is chequered work of stone and flints with loop windows. "The origin of the danza azteca has been ascribed to the Bajío region, Querétaro and even Tlaxcala, all on the outer edges of the former Aztec Empire. One theory states that it originated as part of a large number of dance innovations, such as reenactments of the Conquest or the battle that subdued the Otomis and Chichimecas near what is now the city of Querétaro. The dance adopted Spanish military terms for its lead dancers such as captain and lieutenant and was originally done by lords and princes who would perform in their finery. This tradition of performing the dance in as fantastic a costume as possible continues to this day. Since then, the dance has been passed down generations. By the 19th century, dancers performed in close collaboration with Catholic confraternities with limited membership often by lineage, which is still the case in many small towns and villages." First of all, not everyone likes cabbage rolls and they are not Romanian by origin.
Cabbage rolls can be very good, or they can be awful. Like every other dish, it all depends on the cook, the quality of ingredients and the taster's palate.
Last November I put cabbage in a barrel with dill, horseradish root , pickling salt, some hot peppers and water. Soon I had Sauerkraut, the really good kind that does not have vinegar.
Over the winter many sauerkraut dishes were made though cabbage rolls were not as frequent as the others due to all the work necessary.
Now here is how I make cabbage rolls.
I grind the meat myself. Note: I never buy ground meat, because I've seen what happens behind the scenes at a grocery store's meat prep area. (You will find that they want you to cook ground meat well done, ALWAYS!)
Prep work, one day in advance: Buy a pork shoulder or some nice chops with about 15% fat.
I grind it and mix in a little coarse salt and allow it to macerate overnight in the refrigerator.
Ingredients
1.5 lb ground pork
1 large head of kraut
2 medium onions minced
4 tablespoons of cooking oil
3/4 cup rice
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup water
3 tablespoon fresh minced dill
1 tablespoon Vegeta
1 tablespoon dry thyme
3 bay leaves
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon salt
1/3-1lb smoked meat
SARMALE - CRISTIAN'S STUFFED CABBAGE ROLLS RECIPE
Prep:
Rinse rice 3 times to remove excess starch.
Carefully exfoliate cabbage leaves.
De-vain Cabbage
Mince onions and saute until clear.
Add rice and cook 4 to 5 more minutes while stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat.
Stir in genuine hungarian paprika, (I prefer Kalocsa CSEMEGE FUSZERPAPRIKA-ORLEMNY)
Add 1 to 2 cups of water and simmer until the water is gone.
Allow to cool.
Mix or knead ground pork with rice.
Pack leaves, roll closed and push in the ends to seal.
Add the following ingredients to bottom of pot.
Dill
Thyme
Bay leaves
a few peppercorns
NOTE: If you do not have the bellow meats, a smoked and cut Turkey leg can be substituted.
Cut Smoked Ham-hock. (I get mine at Gartners Meats 7450 N.E. Killingsworth, Portland, Or. 97218)
A few slices of brine and smoke cured bacon. (Homemade)
A few brine and smoke cured pork ribs.(Homemade)
Add packed ROLLS
Cover with a few sauerkraut leaves.
Add a cup of tomato sauce and some salt.
Add water until all is covered plus one inch.
BOIL 2 and a half hours.
Enjoy with sour cream.

Musée d'Orsay/Paris - The first owner of The Origin of the World, who probably commissioned it, was the Turkish-Egyptian diplomat Khalil-Bey (1831-1879). Gustave Courbet regularly painted female nudes, sometimes in a frankly libertine vein. But in The Origin of the World he went to lengths of daring and frankness which gave his painting its peculiar fascination. The almost anatomical description of female sex organs is not attenuated by any historical or literary device. Yet thanks to Courbet's great virtuosity and the refinement of his amber colour scheme, the painting escapes pornographic status. This audacious, forthright new language had nonetheless not severed all links with tradition: the ample, sensual brushstrokes and the use of colour recall Venetian painting and Gustave Courbet himself claimed descent from Titian and Veronese, Correggio and the tradition of carnal, lyrical painting.

There is a continuing debate among theoretical physicists about how the stuff (matter/energy) of the universe could have originated of its own accord, out of 'nothing' (the elusive, so-called ‘theory of everything’). So we have to wonder why the crucial question of the origin of information is excluded from the 'theory of everything' debate?
Without a credible explanation of the origin of information - any proposed theory of 'everything' would, in fact, be a theory of 'nothing' ... and absolutely useless.
Life requires information from the very outset, even the tiniest, most primitive cell is packed with complex information (coded in DNA), and the means of interpreting it.
Life could not exist without information. The first life on earth (regardless of how you believe it originated) needed complex information right from the very start, this is certain and beyond any dispute.
So how did information arise in the first life? Was the information for life just floating about in the ether waiting to alight on the right mixture of chemicals in some primordial soup? I think not! (but atheists have not yet proposed any better explanation).
However, even if such an incredible thing were possible, the question would still remain as to how this information originated within the universe? Where did it come from, and why? Hence for any atheist, the origin of DNA code itself, and the information it contains, is an impossible dilemma.
The unanswerable question for atheism is, which came first, information or matter?
Information cannot possibly create itself, but neither can matter. To suggest that either of them originated, of their own accord, from nothing, is self-evidently, utter nonsense and completely unscientific.
(Atheists will never be able to answer this question because the only logical option is - - a non-contingent first cause of all the material realm, which is eternally pre-existent, intelligent, non-material and therefore not subject to natural laws which govern all natural entities, i.e. a Supernatural Creator God).
Amazingly, we were told by ‘experts’ in 2004 that the discovery of the simple sugar glycoldehide in a gas cloud (known as Sagittarius B2 allegedly detected light years away in the middle of our galaxy) could explain the origin of DNA & life. (Daily Mirror newspaper, UK, 22/9/2004)
This is comparable to claiming that, if a component for making ink were to be discovered in outer space, it would explain how the complete works of Shakespeare could have originated spontaneously, of their own accord - and some people call that science - - incredible!
Make no mistake, atheism is just another religion.
Atheists are very fond of telling us what they don’t believe, but just what do they believe?
Because they reject an eternal, pre-existent, non-material first cause, every atheist is obliged to believe the preposterous notion that, the potential and information for life, as well as all the laws of nature, must have been an intrinsic property of the first matter/energy, when this matter/energy arose by its own power, and of its own volition, out of absolutely nothing, at the beginning of everything!!!! (albeit contrary to logic, common sense, and the laws of nature that govern all matter).
Surely this must be the ultimate miracle to outdo all other miracles.
Supporters of this bizarre, magical belief are very fond of describing atheism as “the only rational viewpoint,” - - -

Atheists cannot accept that any information pre-existed the material. Therefore, matter not only had to create itself, but also its own governing laws & information, from nothing, and so the god of the atheist religion of naturalism is credited with even more creative powers than those usually attributed to an eternally pre-existing, Supernatural God.
In other words, ‘matter’ is automatically ascribed by atheist belief as a self-created, intelligent entity.
(This is completely contrary to logic, and to natural laws which describe the inherent properties and behaviour of matter and all natural occurrences, without exception).

Consider this ...
Long, long, long ago, in an eternal void of nothingness, a tiny cosmic egg arose of its own volition. Then, all of a sudden, the egg accidentally exploded and proceeded to expand until it became the whole universe and everything within it.
(This is the atheistic, ‘Big Bang’, fairy story of creation in a nutshell - - - or should that be eggshell?). But where could this cosmic egg have come from? - - - who knows? - - - perhaps a cosmic chicken laid it? - - - if so - - - where did the cosmic chicken come from? - - - don’t even ask! - - - because the only thing we are absolutely sure of is that we are still waiting for any ‘Big Bang’ supporter to propose a better solution. - - - Please don’t hold your breath!
The best they have come up with so far, is that the 'nothing' in which the cosmic egg emerged, wasn't really nothing, but 'something', i.e. SPACE. But, any fool can see that this is just a device to make a ridiculous belief sound plausible. It is obviously not plausible, because they then have to explain how space (which is not nothing, but just a part of the contingent, material realm) originated, which takes the whole ridiculous idea back to square one.
Since information is not a physical element (and as information is a fundamental constituent of the universe and an essential feature of all life) to assert that the universe is composed solely of matter and energy is clearly wrong.
The speculated ‘Big Bang’ explosion is an accidental, purposeless and destructive event, with no directing, informational component whatsoever. As it is not possible for such a ‘Big Bang’ or any other undirected release of energy to create useful information (or any sort of order) it is patently obvious that this ‘Big Bang’ story of creation is erroneous.
Where has wisdom gone?
For all our modern knowledge and technology, ancient man had a wisdom in these matters which far surpasses modern ideas.
It is now almost 2 thousand years ago that Christ's Apostle John delivered the ultimate ‘theory of everything’. He understood (like many of his predecessors) that the most important factor in the question of origins is information: “In the beginning was the word” [(word: logos) = information]. John 1; 1. (the 'Word' is applied by John to Jesus Christ as true God and true man - meaning the universe was created by the Word (Jesus), by means of God's word - intelligent, constructive information).
All sensible people realise that information just had to come first, nothing constructive or creative can occur without information. Science tells us that, any input of raw energy alone, tends to increase entropy. Only organised or directed energy (energy with an informational component) can temporarily reverse or reduce the effects of entropy.
Without information, nothing material could exist in its present form.
Information derives only from an intelligent source, so only information from a pre-existing, supernatural, intelligent source could bring everything material into being, organise and control its construction and behaviour, and maintain its continued existence.
So the essential, single, first cause had to be both uncaused and intelligent.
There is no other logical option.
Belief in God did not just evolve (as some atheists keep telling us) as a means for ‘ignorant’, ‘primitive’, ‘superstitious’ humans to explain things they could not understand.
On the contrary, ancient man (from the time of Adam) fully understood (better than many of the so-called experts today) that the material universe does not contain within itself any possible means of creating itself and its essential, regulatory information, out of nothing.
A non-contingent, pre-existing, supernatural (non-material), eternal, infinite and omnipotent force had to be responsible for creating it. An essential element of that force is a supreme intelligence which has to be the original source of all information.

In this computer age, people are again beginning to understand the particular relevance of information.
A computer (the hardware) processes and stores information (the software). Without any software programming, the hardware would be useless.
As Chuck Missler points out in his book ‘Cosmic Codes; “software has no mass. (its embodiment may have weight, but the software doesn’t. It simply codes information)”.
A computer disk loaded with a million bytes of software will weigh no more than a blank disk and the information it contains can be sent invisibly through the airwaves from one point to another.
To quote Chuck Missler again “if you and I were meeting face-to-face, I would still not be able to see the real you. I would only see the temporary residence you are occupying. The real you, your personality - - call it soul, spirit, whatever - - is not visible. It is software not hardware. The codes - - your history, your accumulated responses to the events of your life, your attitudes - - are all simply informational, not physical. It is software only and software has no mass”. The information for life ....
Atheists and evolutionists have no idea how the first, genetic information originated. They claim the spontaneous generation of life (abiogenesis) is an established scientific fact, but this is completely disingenuous. Apart from the fact that abiogenesis violates the Law of Biogenesis, the Law of Cause and Effect and the Second Law of Thermodynamics, it also violates Information Theory.
Atheists and evolutionists have an enormous problem with explaining how the DNA code originated. However that is not the major problem. The impression is given to the public, that evolutionists only have to find an explanation for the origin of DNA by natural processes - and the problem of the origin of genetic information will have been solved. That is a confusion in the minds of many people that evolutionists cynically exploit. It is far from the truth, as they very well know.
Explaining how DNA was formed by chemical processes, explains only how the information storage medium was formed, it tells us nothing about the origin of the information it carries.
To clarify this it helps to compare DNA to other information, storage mediums.
For example, if we compare DNA to the written word, we understand that the alphabet is a tangible medium for storing, recording and expressing information, it is not information in itself. The information is recorded in the sequence of letters, forming meaningful words.
You could say that the alphabet is the 'hardware' created from paper and ink, and the sequential arrangement of the letters is the software. The software is a mental construct, not a physical one.
The same applies to DNA. DNA is not information of itself, just like the alphabet it is the medium for storing and expressing information. It is an amazingly efficient storage medium. However, it is the sequence or arrangement of the amino acids which is the actual information, not the DNA code.
So, if evolutionists are ever able to explain how DNA was formed by chemical processes, it would explain only how the information storage medium was formed. It will tell us nothing about the origin of the information it carries. Therefore, when atheists and evolutionists tell us it is only a matter of time before 'science' will be able to fill the 'gaps' in our knowledge and explain the origin of genetic information, they are not being honest. Explaining the origin of the 'hardware' by natural processes is an entirely different matter to explaining the origin of the software.
Next time you hear atheists skating over the problem of the origin of genetic information with their usual bluff and bluster, and parroting their usual nonsense about science being able to fill such gaps in knowledge in the future, don't be fooled. They cannot explain the origin of genetic information, and never will be able to. The software cannot be created by chemical processes or the interaction of energy and matter, it is not possible. If you don't believe that. then by all means put it to the test, by challenging any atheist or evolutionist to explain how genetic information (not DNA) can originate by natural means?

这个地方的视角还是很NX的。不过下面的苏州河给我的印象却大大不如以前了，虽然现在的苏州河水已经很干净了，但是它却缺失了一条河流的功能。多年前虽然是条黑色河水的臭水河，但是船队穿梭。不过有一点我很奇怪，苏州河上很多桥比如照片里的乍浦路桥，外白渡桥和楼下的四川路桥都是西式的低低的，净空很底的。船队居然也能穿过去。难道以前的水位比现在低？

Origins
The sock monkey's most direct predecessors originated in the Victorian era, when the craze for imitation stuffed animals swept from Europe into North America and met the burgeoning Arts and Crafts Movement. Craft makers began sewing stuffed animals as toys to comfort children, and, as tales of the Scramble for Africa increased the public's familiarity with exotic species, monkey toys soon became a fixture of American nurseries. However, these early stuffed monkeys were not necessarily made from socks, and also lacked the characteristic red lips of the sock monkeys popular today.
John Nelson, a Swedish immigrant to the United States, patented the sock-knitting machine in 1869, and began manufacturing work socks in Rockford, Illinois in 1890. The iconic sock monkeys made from red-heeled socks emerged at the earliest in 1932, the year the Nelson Knitting Company added the trademarked red heel to its product. In the early years, the red-heeled sock was marketed as "De-Tec-Tip". Nelson Knitting was an innovator in the mass market work sock field, creating a loom that enabled socks to be manufactured without seams in the heel. These seamless work socks were so popular that the market was soon flooded with imitators, and socks of this type were known under the generic term "Rockfords". Nelson Knitting added the red heel "de-tec-tip" to assure its customers that they were buying "original Rockfords". This red heel gave the monkeys their distinctive mouth. During the Great Depression, American crafters first made sock monkeys out of worn-out Rockford Red Heel Socks.

Around 1951, the Nelson Knitting company discovered that their socks were being used to make monkey dolls. This company became involved in a dispute over the design patent on the sock monkey pattern. They were awarded the patent in 1955, and began including the pattern with every pair of socks. The sock monkey doll was then used in promotional campaigns celebrating the widespread application of their product by inventive homemakers in the field of monkey manufacturing.
In 1958, the "scrap-craft" magazine Pack-O-Fun published "How to Make Sock Toys", a guide to making different sock animals and dolls with red heeled socks. Frequently cited as being their most popular book ever, this pamphlet went through multiple printings and was being produced in new editions up until the mid-1980s. In the late 1980s the sock monkey was reborn by a company called Marketing Tide of Willouhby Hills, Ohio which sold kits with the original socks and instructions in numerous craft and sewing magazines. Their kit was featured on the ABC-TV Network Home Show in 1992, which put the Sock Monkey firmly back into American Culture.
The Nelson Knitting Company was acquired in 1992 by Fox River Mills, and the original brown heather, Red Heel monkey sock is still in production by Fox River Mills. A distinctive change in the red-heeled sock design distinguishes monkeys made with Fox River Mills socks from Nelson Knitting Company socks. Fox River heels are more uniformly ovular, without the end points that gave Nelson Knitting-made sock monkeys their smiles or frowns.

Sock monkeys remain a popular toy to this day. Most vintage red-heel sock monkeys found today are no older than the late 1950s, and many date from the 1970s. A number of methods for dating sock monkeys have been debated by collectors, including the shape of the red heel, the tightness of the weave, sock seams, the style of clothing worn, and other features. The term "vintage" red-heel sock monkeys is typically relegated to sock monkeys made from red-heel socks knitted by the Nelson Knitting Company and from similar socks knitted with red-heels by other companies in the same time period. The term "modern" red-heel sock monkeys is normally relegated to sock monkey dolls created after Fox River Mills, Inc. acquired Nelson Knitting Company in 1992. Home made red-heel sock monkey dolls usually have unique faces and body characteristics and are considered one-of-a-kind. Sock monkey dolls are also mass-manufactured in the marketplace. Sock monkey dolls mass-manufactured by a company normally all have the same face and body characteristics. Not all sock monkey dolls are created from red-heel socks. A new trend is growing to create sock monkey dolls from colorful striped or polka dot socks—even mismatched socks. The love of sock monkeys has led to other sock creatures being designed and made. La Boqueria Market has its origins from year 1200, as an open market, and enclosed today as shown in the photo taken at 1:30 pm.
Today, many pesky tourists and local inhabitants buy and eat the luscious vegetables, sweet (and I mean SWEET) fruits, familiar and strange looking fish that lurk at you and *bocadillos with jamon and queso. (Yum Yum).
And, when you've finished eating paellas at the many cafes that surround the perimeter of the market, at the entrance is a Dunkin Donut shop, to satisfy your craving for sugar.
Truly, it's a great place to see history, taste great food and I ask you to be nice, if you're a visitor. Like I said, many locals inhabit the market and on days when you're there shooting pictures, they can't get to the counters to buy their food and the vendors can't make a living.
