Instead of spending money you can also decide to fold with it and that's what I did ;-) A little goodby-present for a colleague, who is leaving to start a new job.

If you want to try origami money-folding, you can find several models on youtube. Have fun!

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”

Quote – Vincent Van Gogh

“Those who find beauty in all of nature will find themselves at one with the secrets of life itself.”

Quote – L. Wolfe Gilbert

I couldn't choice between the two quotes…….do you have a favorite?

For the "Smile on Saturday! :-)" theme: 'Colorful Hearts', I folded from just one piece of double colored paper this golden heart with a red iris on top of it. ;-))

Wishing you many happy smiles today, they say it is good for your health ;-)) HSoS!!!

Paper, one piece of 30x30cm double colored kraftpaper

Final size: height 9cm , width 10,5cm

For my new folding project I have to fold modules, which will be connected. These modules remind me of eyes. These two were lying in the sun and I could not resist making this shot of these origami eyes;-))

Another variation of the unit and 'Star-Flower', I uploaded yesterday (see first comment box).

Each of these red-white origami Star-Flowers is made out of 8 units, but arranged differently.

The size of one unit is now 4x4cm, red kami paper.

Final size star is 9x9cm.

I really don't know anymore on what occasion I folded it and if there are any diagrams. Sorry for that.

Said The Sky And Origami_Affection

Might not be the time to break the silence

Might not be the place to reel you in

But lemme catch all your tears like tiny diamonds

Might be the last time you'll fall for this again

Ooh who am I

If I am not the one to love you

The one to give you affection

Ooh it's do or die

I am not the one to love you

The one to give you affection

I'll pull you in closer 'til we buckle

Eye contact so strong we'll never break

Could spend the day right here counting up ur freckles

Even though I know it's been sixteen since May

Songwriters: Trevor Christensen / Benabe Cesar Peralta / jack newsome

Picture Taken @ Ocho Tango Place

The last model in the origami Star-Flower recovered series. Actually this one is made out of two: a small blue (8 units, each 2x2cm, blue kami paper) stuck on a larger one (also 8 units, each 4x4cm, green kamipaper).

In the first comment box, you see the two previous variations.

(I really don't know anymore on what occasion I folded it and if there are any diagrams. Sorry for that.)

As background I used a patterned origami-paper and added a texture.

Have a lovely weekend ahead ;-)

Handmade by me for Macro Mondays theme: paper art.

HMM everyone!

Finally found some time to join the 30 modules together. But.....when I took a break and returned, I saw this face of an owl, so I couldn't resist to take a photo first, before finishing it ;-))

Here you can see the completed origami model by Miyuki Kawamura called "Star Orb" (2013).

Of course I had to make an origami mushroom ;-)

Using the "paper-crumpling" technic by Vincent Floderer, who is famous for using this technique and designing many ingenious models, especially sea creatures.

While you might argue whether it's still origami or not, it is definitely an interesting technique.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend!

"This little witch with her magic broom, which makes the cleaning up after the Halloween Party a lot easier, (it took her only 5 minutes!!) is on her way back home. She looks a little bit tried, but is also very satisfied the job is done!

I wish I had a broom like that too…….. " ;-))

Name: Origami Witch

Design: Kamikey ( please correct me if I'm wrong)

There is a video-tutorial in three parts, so you can try to fold it too, if you want ;-))

Folded from 3 pieces of paper:

-one sheet of black kami-paper (15x15cm) for the head

-one sheet of black kami-paper (15x15cm) for the body

-one rectangle of brownish kami-paperpaper (7,5x15cm for the broom

Normally I don't give the origami models artificial eyes, but in this case it makes it more alive ;-))

my origami bird says don't trust anyone who says "i love you"

but tearfully ask you "love me."

Remember 'Riddle'?

When assembled it looks like this and it has 3 different sides ;-)

Folded from 36 pieces of Freudenberg Paper, 7,5x7,5cm.

I used a simple unit, which I found in an old booklet "Unit-Origami" by David Petty. You can make different forms depending on how many units are assembled and how the unit is folded and used.

This origami Polyhedron variation isn't in the book ;-)

Read more and see the other possibilities here.

Origami is magical, just like photography ;-))

An in-between step of a new model, I folded

I processed it just a little bit ;-))

HSS everyone!

And action….. the wrestling doesn't take long in reality, I guess as long as these two paper ones remained standing in this position. I had great fun and frustration at the same time making this shot ;-)

Can you recognize the one I showed you yesterday? (or see first comment box).

~~~Sumo is a form of competitive full-contact wrestling where a rikishi attempts to force his opponent out of a circular ring or into touching the ground with any body part other than the soles of his feet. Sumo originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally, where it is considered the national sport.~~~
Happy start of your weekend!!
I folded both Sumo Wrestlers from ivory colored 'elephant-hide'-paper 30x30cm. Final size about 13cm height.
I bought this tiny pin (diameter is about 2cm) a long time ago at an origami convention and since then it has adorned one of my jackets.
The background is a textured gold foil.
This is the result of my first attempt to fold the origami Puffer Fish by Jang Yong Ik, (see photo in the first comment box), but I couldn't finish it because the paper I was using was smaller and and therefor the layers thicker, so I knew the paper was going to tear if I tried more folding steps.
So actually, this is also an intermediate step. I've arranged it a bit so that it looks like an origami Sea Snail or any other sea creature with a shell ;-))
I thought you might like to see this variation too.
As mentioned, I only used a 50x50cm sheet of double coloured kraft paper here instead of the 70x70cm on my second attempt.
Final size: length 17cm, width 10cm, height 10cm
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” ― Kenneth Grahame.
These young ladies (and the dog) were doing just that in what looked to me like origami boats folded together out of a sheet of plastic. Even their paddles were made of plastic sheeting. I'd never seen anything like this before and had to grab a shot.
Origami paper hearts made and painted by my daughter Phoebe.
Just as I was wondering what to choose for MM, an origami owl landed in my mailbox. He now marks the page in my book. In the background is an owl feather.
I made these origami flowers and arranged them in a white square-shaped vase to use as a decorative ornament for my coffee table.
This is the 2nd time my origami Crane has featured in Macro Mondays - previous photo from 5 years ago in the first comment box below. In 2006 a 7 year old Japanese girl & her family stayed at our B&B, she made this Crane for me & I will treasure it forever. It's a little battered & faded now but not looking too bad for a 13 year old piece of folded paper that has successfully moved house with us HMM!
This article explains about the significance of Cranes in Japanese culture & makes for fascinating reading. The last paragraph is so sad but uplifting at the same time www.jccc.on.ca/origami-cranes/pdf/meaning_of_the_origami_...
Latest paper design came to life at Meeting of Styles Pristina, Kosovo. Based on my own design.
