I made a little present, two pairs of origami earrings, for my niece because she is having her birthday today. The first one you can see here above and is folded from one little square of Washi paper (4,5x4,5cm). The finished model size is 2,5cm.
It's a traditional origami model, called Tato. When you fold it bigger, you can put something inside.
You can see the other pair of earrings here.

Serious business, origami is.
No no, this did not come from the Origami Calendar box!
This was something I folded three-and-a-half years ago while bored one night and not studying. It took three painstaking hours to fold.
He stands at 4.5in (11.5cm) tall and was folded from an A3 square- approximately 12x12in (30x30cm)!
If I had a larger green square, I'd totally do it again.
This is by all means not perfect. I took a shortcut with his hand as the paper was too hard to fold. There's a visible bit of sticky tape I used to keep his cloak closed. And he's all green... I'd give him a brown coat if I could!
So yeah, I'm pretty serious about origami, and now's my chance to get back into it again.
I found the instructions here soon after they were posted.
My original photos can also be seen here.

Folded for the Macro Mondays theme: Dice
This is the first origami I have attempted since I hurt my hand which is still healing but MUCH better than it was. Using scraps next to my chair I kept folding smaller pieces to get the size down without actually measuring and doing math. The pair I chose are not matched. I did one folding a long strip from a video but couldn't duplicate the size with half a hand, so the second one is a Paul Jackson cube as are all the ones in the reference photo above ranging in size from 2" (lavender memo pad) to 1/2" (olive green). I learned that folding the modular section in thirds (the smaller yellow one) gives the die more stability. I only painted on the dots for the side that shows -- just as well as the one with 5 pips also has another side with 5 pips. :)
Folded from double-tissue adhered with methylcellulose. The paper was about 50x50cm; the finished model is about 24cm long.
Diagrams for this model were published most recently in Works of Hideo KOMATSU.
