In order to get to the summit of Chachani, we had to get up at 1am and leave our base-camp by 1.45. This was to avoid the heat of the sun. After sleeping in a sub-par sleeping bag that seemed to extract any heat that my body could muster up, I was incredibly tired. Lucky for me our guide had brought up an impressive supply for coca leaves. Within fifteen minutes or so I had a noticeable buzz. It's a shame that this stuff is illegal in the rest of the world.

Without a doubt, this was one of the best Westerns of the early 1930s. Walter Huston and Harry Carey star in this thinly disguised tale of Wyatt Earp's exploits in Tombstone, Arizona. The story was based on a novel by W. R. Burnett, with a screenplay penned by Walter's son, John Huston.
This one wasn’t my initial thought as I already had taken a photo but I found this duck and couldn’t resist. I followed it and tilted my camera down so I could get as much of the lighting hitting the top of the subject to enhance the duck shadow because I thought it was extremely cool. I did try to get lower but the photos just came or blurry since I kind of an operating on an older iPhone. Are use my phones spotlight mode to try to capture and eliminate the object more than the background because the background here at Disneyland is kind of busy. I think the greenery matches and compliments the outstanding color on the head of the duck. I don’t know if that draws the attention away from the duck though, as the green is pretty overwhelming itself. If I could, I would change the background to the water that was behind but I couldn’t get too close either.

We get out of the tents at about 4AM in order to be at our first survey point by about 5AM. Some of the roads that we are on are so little used that I am able to still see my tire tracks where I pulled off to the side of the road the year before. Once we stop and I turn off the engine, the only sound is the sound of birds and frogs singing their hearts out as the early morning light begins to brighten the morning sky. As the day progresses and the temperature rises, the flowers begin to open and the butterflies begin to join the dragonflies and other insects. Last year, the background noise was provided by millions of mosquitoes and blackflies but, this year, those biting pests were much fewer in number. Only one black bear today :-).

As a part of the 2010 redevelopment of the Museum of the Order of St John, the Cloister Garden was re-landscaped and planted with medicinal plants and herbs to reflect the work of the Knights Hospitaller and to call to mind the former gardens of the medieval Clerkenwell Priory.

This is a photo of a bookshelf at the Blue earth county library. I felt like the vertical arrangement of the books and the intersecting vertical and horizontal planes of the bookshelves made a beautiful display of order. I can honestly say the only thing I don't love about this photo is how unoriginal the concept seems. i do like the way the lines draw the eye through the picture though.
