St Michael's Mount (Cornish: Karrek Loos yn Koos, (Carrek Los yn Cos), meaning ‘hoar rock in woodland’, also known colloquially by locals as simply the Mount is a small tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall, United Kingdom. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. The population of this parish in 2011 was 35. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650. The earliest buildings, on the summit, date to the 12th century, the harbour is 15th century and the village and summit buildings were rebuilt from 1860 to 1900, to give the island its current form.
Its Cornish language name — literally, ‘the grey rock in a wood’ — may represent a folk memory of a time before Mount's Bay was flooded, indicating a description of the Mount set in woodland. Remains of trees have been seen at low tides following storms on the beach at Perranuthnoe, but radiocarbon dating established the submerging of the hazel wood at about 1700 BC.
Historically, St Michael's Mount was a Cornish counterpart of Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France (which shares the same tidal island characteristics and the same conical shape), when it was given to the Benedictines, religious order of Mont Saint-Michel, by Edward the Confessor in the 11th century.
St Michael's Mount is one of forty-three (unbridged) tidal islands that one can walk to from mainland Britain. Part of the island was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1995 for its geology.

Military Order of the Purple Heart "Combat Wounded Veterans"
John Basilone (November 4, 1916 – February 19, 1945) was a United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant who received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. He was the only enlisted Marine in World War II to receive both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross.
He served three years in the United States Army with duty in the Philippines before joining the Marine Corps in 1940. After attending training, Basilone deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Solomon Islands and eventually to Guadalcanal where he held off 3,000 Japanese troops after his 15-member unit was reduced to two other men. He was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of Iwo Jima, after which he was posthumously honored with the Navy Cross. He has received many honors including being the namesake for streets, military locations and a United States Navy destroyer. [Wikipedia]
There were some of the precious few remaining World War II Veterans in attendance at the parade. They were more than just heroes, they were God damned men!
I don't know how any male American citizen who hasn't served their country in the military can look at these heroes and not consider themselves a bit of a coward.

Without a doubt, this was one of the best Westerns of the early 1930s. Walter Huston and Harry Carey star in this thinly disguised tale of Wyatt Earp's exploits in Tombstone, Arizona. The story was based on a novel by W. R. Burnett, with a screenplay penned by Walter's son, John Huston.

Physical characteristics
A large, dark, heavy-bodied, gull-like bird, mottled gray-brown with conspicuous white patches on the outer wing. Tail short and blunt. Immatures of larger gulls lack prominent white wing patches.
Habitat
Breeds on open bare ground near the sea; at other times, ranges over the ocean.
Other details
Catharacta skua breeds only in northernmost Europe, with the entire global breeding range confined to the region. The European breeding population is relatively small (16,000 pairs), but increased between 1970-1990. Although the trend of the sizeable population in Iceland was unknown, the species continued to increase in most of the rest of its range during 1990-2000, and consequently it is evaluated as Secure.
Feeding
Often nests close to other seabirds, where it obtains all its food from piracy or by preying on lemmings and the eggs and chicks of heterospecifics. In winter normally aggregates with other seabirds from whom it pirates.
Breeding
Great Skuas nest on coastal moorland, often in loose groups of scattered nests, but with some colonies numbering thousands of pairs. When nesting at low density in small colonies, most birds in the colony feed by killing birds. However, when nesting in large colonies, the majority feed on fish, including fishery discards, and only a small proportion specialize in killing seabirds. Ringing has shown that Great Skuas from Shetland have emigrated to form colonies in many other areas as far away as north Russia, but the majority of chicks return to their natal colony to try to establish a breeding territory. 2 olive-brown eggs, with dark brown spots, in a grass-lined nest on the ground. Often nests in loose colonies. Incubation lasts 26-27 days. Fledging period 26-30 days. Breeds at three or more years.
