Gasteracantha fornicata
Family: Araneidae
Order: Araneae
This is one of the species of Spiny Orb Weavers of the family Araneidae. They have been described as "sit-and-wait" predators for their practice of spinning their orb-shaped web and simply waiting until a small insect approaches.
At front and centre of this image are the spinnerets or thread making organs.

I had a dead deer in the ditch along the road. I hooked up a rope to it and drug it back into the woods with my tractor. The next day the vultures took care of it, but they do have a pecking order and these two were waiting their turn. Turkey Vulture in the front and a Black Vulture in the back. My backyard. Central Bucks, PA.

Symmetry... what a relief. Things in order. Structure, patterns... and then spotting "deviations"... it sounds much worse than it is, right? ha, ha, ha...

Finally here!
It was supposed to be a slice of regular imperial base, but guys from Brickzlab invited me to their Fallen Order collab and I simply couldn’t refuse it! Pure joy to be in the collab with many talented builders. Hope you like my Ilum as well. More interior shots are on my IG (@jan_the_creator) but I am going to upload them here too. ;)
Cheers!

Seems the Australian White Ibis get the high perch and didn't want to talk to the Royal Spoonbill or Great Egret.
Kuldīga's brick bridge over the Venta river is one of the symbols of Kuldīga. The bridge is located about 200 m below the Venta Rapid Since 1998, it has been an architectural monument of national importance. The bridge is the third longest brick bridge in Europe and the second oldest brick arch bridge in Latvia. It was built between 1873 and 1874 and cost 120,000 rubles.
The brick bridge over the Venta has been in service since 1874 and was designed by Oto Dīce. It is built according to 19th century road standards. The 164 m long seven-span brick masonry arch bridge on boulder supports was not only the largest and most luxurious in Latvia, but also one of the most modern in Europe. The bridge was illuminated by lanterns in 6 decorative cast-iron lampposts with bases cast in the shape of fish. At that time, the achievements in bridge construction were clearly evidenced by the width of the bridge, which was sufficient for two carriages driving towards each other to move along it at the same time.
During the First World War in 1915, two spans of the bridge on the right bank were destroyed. In 1926, they were restored in reinforced concrete.
In 1958, the stone pavement of the bridge was covered with asphalt.
Already at the end of the 90s of the 20th century, the Kuldīga arch bridge over the Venta required extensive restoration. In August 2007, upon the order of the Kuldīga City Council, restoration works were started. According to the agreed project, the reconstruction of the building structures and engineering communications strengthening the bearing capacity of the bridge was carried out, as well as the external decoration of the bridge was partially restored. On August 28, 2008, after more than a year of restoration, the bridge was officially opened.
Rusty groynes and trusty gulls, how about this for a sneaky fence friday submission?

The Order of the Garter is a British chivalrous society formed in 1348. It uses a circular belt or garter as its symbol. This old bottle of diarrhea remedy uses the same. I can only suppose you couldn't risk the runs wearing your armor and chain mail. Conspiracy theory? I think so. Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense.
Time did not follow any particular order from A to B to C and D, did it? It moved almost uncontrolled - from side to side, backwards and forwards.

It's been an unusual and not particularly pleasing winter in the Northwoods, marked by too much cold and not enough snow, but yesterday the gods offered a perfect day for an extensive wander...which was fully utilized for that purpose. After finally receiving a fresh snowfall of about 6 inches and enduring a week of bitter cold, the morning sun and temps rising to around freezing made for ideal hiking conditions. Made even more irresistible by the forecast for freezing rain (which is happening as I write this) and a plunge back below 0F by tomorrow.
Ah, but yesterday was exhilarating, the scenes by now familiar, but always different nonetheless. The full tour of my peninsula was accomplished, concluding at this small pond which occupies the very tip before returning home. Beyond the far tree line, you can make out the big lake which surrounds 3/4 of the land area, my smaller lake the other 1/4. What you unfortunately cannot make out is the call of the chickadees which was the only sound heard throughout the course of the afternoon...a most pleasant accompaniment.
Beelitz Heilstätten was a lung sanatorium, built between 1898 and 1930 by the Berlin State Insurance Institution. It is one of the largest hospital complexes in the Berlin area and consists of an ensemble of 60 buildings on a total area of approximately 200 ha.
This image is from the house C of the sanatorium for men and is located south of the railroad station. Unfortunately, all buildings are nearly empty meanwhile.
