Once I escaped from the cell, I had no idea, where to go. I started to run, not knowing in which direction to go.
I picked up a knife on the run. One of the smugglers had left it on a table. I heard the smugglers, shouting at eachother. They were close. I had to find a way out of the prison. Suddenly I had an idea: The other prisoners could help me. I sprinted to the next cell. There was a man inside. He was surprised when he saw me. I looked at the cell’s energy shield. There was a controll panel nearby. Without thinking I cut through the case, searching for the power cable. There it was ! I cut through and the energy shield switched off.
„Come on ! Get out the cell !“ I shouted.
The prisoner jumped out of the cell and lunged at the smuggler, appearing at the corner of the hallway. Good ! This would make my escape a lot easier. I opened the next cell...

My second build for the restarted group „The Jedi Order“.

applied spiral radiating out in chaotic abstract forms interspersed with
the ordered geometry of delicate fractal spirals repeating themselves
throughout the entire work...
My first wholesale order. Three sets of ABC blocks. It was lots of work, but I'm so pleased with the end result.

There are some structures in this world that by their sheer size , are impossible to capture on film as the eye actually sees them.
New York City's Hell Gate Bridge is perhaps one such structure , one of a very few urban vistas that can dwarf a freight train and make it look like a toy .
Originally the " New York Connecting Railroad Bridge" it crosses the Hell Gate, a strait of the East River, between Astoria in Queens and Randalls and Wards Islands in Manhattan.
The main bridge is the largest of three bridges that form the Hell Gate complex. Together with approaches, the bridges are more than 17,000 feet (3.2 mi) long.
Conceived in the early 1900s to link New York City and the
Pennsylvania Railroad PRR with New England and the New Haven Railroad NH , (via Penn Station and the Bayridge car floats) The Hell Gate was seen as such a vital link to the US wartime economy that the Nazi's targeted it for sabotage.
As a child I remember seeing New Havens EP5's and E33's on the bridge ,as well as assorted diesels including GP9's RS11's and H1644's.
As PC took over and the traffic to and from New England was routed through Selkirk and the River Line , freight operations over Hell Gate gradually declined .
In the early 70's I remember seeing ex NH U25'bs as well as 4 unit lashups of F7's and GP9B's, then gradually more modern GE and EMD 4 axles on the Selkirk- LIRR symbols LI2/ LI4 and Oak Point to Fresh Pond transfers.
Seeing freight on the bridge is pretty difficult these days.
P&W's Cedar Hill stone trains (FPCH-CHFP) use it , as does CSX -LIRR transfers, but mostly in darkness. Photographing one on the bridge is next to impossible due to lack of vantage point and no clear schedule. ( yes I am also scared of heights )
You can imagine my surprise this particular morning at 0849 when I encountered two SD40's and SD60I wide open enroute to Fresh Pond while dropping my wife to work in Manhattan on the JFK /Triboro Bridge.
" OHHHH so that's why you asked me to drive"..actually I had no idea..lol besides I was shooting into the sun...but quickly realized the potential to capture the classic SD40 sillhouette .
(I don't know about the rest of you..but the SD40 ranks as another one of my favorite diesels and the SD60 is always preferable over a any GEVO..)
BTW the sound of "old school" EMD sounded amazing over the traffic.(which was barely moving ) .

Today (6 Sept) the Dominican Order offered the annual Requiem for the Deceased Benefactors and Friends of the Dominican Order. As Dominicans, we depend on the kindness and support of our benefactors from the very beginning in 1221. Even when all was devastated after the Reformation, it was through friends and benefactors that our Province was rebuilt and Dominican life resumed in England and Scotland. Our church in London stands as a testimony to the confidence and hope of our benefactors; their names are seen throughout this church seeking our prayers; and we are grateful and happy to pray for them daily and in a special Mass such as this. This Crucifix was restored and used for the first time today; this set with the unbleached candles is used for Requiem Masses.
All my sorted black, light bley, and tan should now be easily accessible.
The least fun part was printing out all the labels on sticker paper and applying all of them to the drawers.

I found this specimen in my backyard. I used a beating net to collect this specimen from a shrub. It appears true what entomologists say; Coleopterons fall when disturbed or hit a barrier.

Just added the Tree Swallow photo and four poor quality shots taken on Day 2 of our 2-week trip to Ontario and Quebec in May, tonight. I don't normally see a Common Yellowthroat, so posted these photos just for the record. I will add three "better" photos tomorrow morning, taken at the Calgary Zoo.
On our second day in Ontario, 8 May 2018, we drove to Rondeau Provincial Park and enjoyed walking some of the trails. We found all sorts of things, from turtles and snakes to birds and wildflowers.
Anyone who has been following me for a long time will probably know that I try not to post two photos of the same thing next to each other. For this holiday, though, I am posting photos in more or less the order they were taken. This will help me to better remember where we went and when. Also, I often took similar photos using two different cameras, which makes everything more complicated. It is going to be a challenge to remember much now that two months have already slipped by! Please bear with me, especially as so many of my photos are simply distant, often blurred, rapid captures. I will try and post as many of them as I can at night, when hopefully most people are off Flickr. As for marking them on my map, I have no idea exactly where we saw what, so I will place all the Rondeau photos in one general location, mainly to show where Rondeau Provincial Park actually is. Also, a few of the photos may have been taken while driving to and from the park, back to our hotel in Leamington.
I will be adding Anne Belton's and Janet Gill's e-bird lists of birds seen on our four days at Pt Pelee (7 - 10 May 2018), in comment boxes under some of the photos from this holiday, mainly to remind myself of what was seen. Each day, I, myself, did not see every one of the species listed.
Four friends and I left Calgary airport on 6 May 2018 and flew to Toronto. There, we rented a van and did the long drive to Point Pelee for four whole days of birding. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel, which is close to Point Pelee National Park. It fills up very quickly (with birders) and our rooms were booked months ago.
Our four days walking at Point Pelee were interesting and I, for sure, saw various things I had never seen before, including my very first Raccoon : ) Various friends had told me that the Warblers at Pelee were fantastic - so many and numerous species, and so close. Have to disagree with the "closeness" when we were there! I don't have binoculars as a camera(s) is enough for me to carry around, so I know I missed all sorts of birds. Though my Warbler count was lower than my friends', I was happy to at least get a few distant photos of some species. So many of my shots are awful, but I will still post some of them, just for the record of seeing them. Some photos are so bad that I doubt anyone can ID them.
We covered several different trails at Pelee, and also drove to a few places somewhat further afield, such as Hillman Marsh. If you are unfamiliar with this Conservation Area, the barn there was amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes! I was in so much pain that I wasn't sure if I would be able to walk across a grassy area to take a few photos. However, it was so unusual and beautiful, that I reckoned I could try and move forward inch by inch - and crawl (ha, ha) if necessary. Another place we enjoyed was Rondeau National Park. One amazing and totally unexpected sighting just outside Pelee was a very distant male Snowy Owl sitting in a fieldl!!
We walked every single day that we were at Pelee and the areas mentioned above, seeing not just birds, but a frog/toad, snakes that we suspect were mating, several Painted turtles, a few plants (including both white and red Triliums, that I had never seen growing wild before, and a couple of Jack in the Pulpit plants).
The Friends of Point Pelee have food available that one can buy. They also have a shuttle bus that one can take from the Visitor Centre all the way to the southern tip of Pelee, which is the most southern part of Canada. They also have birding walks each day (there is a charge). On 9 May, we spent the morning from 6:00 am to 11:00 am on a birding walk at Pelee with guide, Tom Hince, whom we had contacted while we were still in Calgary.
At the end of our stay at Point Pelee, we had to drive all the way back to Toronto, from where we flew to Quebec airport. From there, we had a four-hour drive to Tadoussac on the coast of the St. Lawrence Seaway. This is such a delightful, small place and in a beautiful setting. One of our friends, Anne B, and her husband have a summer cabin further along the cliff from the few stores and port. She had invited the four of us to go with her from Pelee to spend a week at her beautiful home. What an absolute treat this was! We were able to meet some of her relatives, too, who also have built cabins out there. We were looked after so well, and we were able to see and photograph all sorts of birds, including many of the little White-crowned Sparrows seen in the third photo. Here, in and around Calgary, I so rarely see one of these birds, though I do hear them singing sometimes. We made several trips to see different places, including the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area, where we were able to see endless thousands of Snow Geese. Breathtaking!
We also had two boat trips from Tadoussac - one was a whaling trip in a Zodiac, where we saw very, very distant Beluga and Minke Whales. The Belugas looked almost like the white wave crests - but they were Belugas. The other boat trip was to the Brandy Pot Islands, inhabited by thousands of Razorbills and Common Murres, which were new birds for us, and Double-crested Cormorants that were nesting in tree tops. That long boat trip (in a tiny boat) started off in the rain and dark clouds and it was soooo cold! Thermal underwear, layers of fleece and toque and gloves were needed. This day was arranged through a contact of Anne's and it was so much enjoyed! Of course, we anchored a distance away from the island and sat there and ate our sandwiches and took endless photos.
Anne, I can't thank you enough for organizing this holiday for us all and for inviting us to spend a week at your cabin. You worked so hard and it was so much appreciated by each and every one of us. Thank you for doing all the many hours of driving, too! Janet and Anne, thank you so much for compiling the lists of birds seen each day at various locations, and posted to ebird. These entries will be a huge help while I try and sort out where we were and when, and what species we saw. Miss your cookies and muffins, Janet, that you kindly made for us in Tadoussac, to go along with the wonderful meals that Anne planned and made for us : )
If there are animals around, and if I have a camera with me, you can bet I'll try photographing them at some point. This was taken during a little girl's birthday party last summer... I went to take portraits of the girl, but there were chickens, and so... well, you can see what happened.
Speaking of that... you know of those "100 strangers" photo projects that people do? I'm thinking that I should do one of those, only with dogs. Dogs downtown, dogs in the park, dogs at the beach. What do you think?

Really impressed by the people in Japan. Everyone still in good order in this tough time, to get food, take the public transport, help each other.....
They show us their unique discipline and courtesy.
They taught me a great lesson.

Hi everyone!
I decided to open a few orders for Abyss. However I couldn't cast lots of dolls (I have a full time job) and so I take few places during these preorders!
To start, I will open only 10 places.
Beware : preorders will be open on flickr and on the french forum matérielceleste (so less than 10 places for flickr only for example!)
To be fair, I will proceed with the "first one, first served" basis, with a small waiting list in case of cancellation within the first 10.
For these pre-order, I will proceed with the email address depths.dolls@live.fr only.
How it will happen?
The preorder will open on November 1st at 8 pm and will end on the November 4th at 8 pm (I will not accept mail sent before that day or that hour - French hour so it's Gmt + 1h).
To take an order, you have to write in your mail :
- Name / first name / nickname / origin (MC or flickr)
- Color choice (I will see it's possible), considering that I can make a monochrome doll, or the tail of another color. I don't cast in bicolor (two colors coexisting in the same piece).
- Customization choice (following acceptance).
Attention! each color is unique, I make my own blends. Do not ask me, "I want the same color as this one" because I couldn't make exactly the same.
I will inform the first 10, announcing the estimated time (considering that I will cast one or two dolls in the month). Those arrived after the first 10 will be notified and placed on a waiting list in case of cancellation. I will open the pre-order again when the first will be completely finished.
Price:
- 250 € monochrome doll
- 270 € the doll with the tail of a different color
- The price will not be different if the doll is requested without makeup. This is the most funky time for me. Cancel this step will not reduce the time of manufacture.
- Add shipping fees, calculated according to the method of delivery, the country ...
- Paypal only for international customers
- Layaways? Yes, in two payments maximum. If there is a cancellation of your order between the payments, I will refund you without 20% of the total price. ^^
- When the payment will happen? In the beginning of the manufacturing of your doll (I will contact you). I will not make you pay while you have to wait 3 monthes.
Dolls will come :
- nude, sanded and hot glued.
- Resin contain anti-UV, and will delay the yellowing of the resin (however, it's still inevitable with time).
- certificate.
