This is what happens when you leave the aperture at f1.8 instead of f11 (the smallest my camera goes) in the shot before the one that worked. I open it up so I can focus, although that is hit & miss on a point-n-shoot.

Dutch postcard, editor unknown, no. 635. Photo: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Gary Cooper and Marion Davies in Operator 13 (Richard Boleslawski, 1934).
Marion Davies (1897-1961) was one of the great comedic actresses of the silent era. She starred in nearly four dozen films between 1917 and 1937.
American screen legend Gary Cooper (1901-1961) is well remembered for his stoic, understated acting style in more than one hundred Westerns, comedies and dramas. He received five Oscar nominations and won twice for his roles as Alvin York in Sergeant York (1941) and as Will Kane in High Noon (1952).

The newest arrivals with more due in the next fortnight we see in the South Wales Transport Yard YX65 RNV, YX65 RNO & YX65 RNU. All of which have entered service replacing YX09 FKU, YX09 FKV & YX09 FKS. Recently I’ve been able to drive one of the trio on Swansea Service 15 to Waunarlwydd & dispite their tatty exterior they are not only nice on the inside but really rather nice to drive lacking that common E200 rattle, these new arrivals are expected to be painted next month.

Operator Chris McLean listens to the train dispatcher line as she works second trick at Washago, Ontario, Canada in October 1987.
Washago was the crossing of two Canadian National main lines and marked the beginning of dark territory on one line, so it was a fairly busy train order office.
This was my only first-hand experience with train orders; this time-honored system of train movement authority had been swept away in the States a few years earlier, and would not survive in Canada much longer after this photo was taken.
Working La Petite Géante seems to be a bizarre mix of bellringing and one of those mad, capering folk dances that degenerate quickly into an excuse for a knife fight.
of all the figures I've put together these are probably the most accurate ones, they came out pretty close to the guys in the movie
