August 1. Monday. Maddie's house and cross country.
First day of cross country.
It's going to be a good season, I think.
Even if I am so way beyond out of shape.
So much fun with Maddie, Grant, and Rj tonight.
I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe and almost had an asthma attack.
Some other stuff was confusing beyond belief, but that's life.

Lingering chestnut oak leaves in the Slip Mile Town Forest. The most chestnut oaks I've ever seen in one place.
This locomotive, NER No. 1, was the North-Eastern Railway's first electric locomotive.
The North-Eastern Railway was a keen supporter of electric traction for railways.
NER No. 1 was one of two built for the quayside branch in Newcastle in 1902. They were designed for both electrified third rail and overhead line operation. The quayside branch was electrified as part of a wider scheme to electrify suburban railways on Tyneside.
In 1913 the Shildon-Newport line was electrified by NER to demonstrate the viability of electric locomotives for heavy freight traffic.
At the end of the First World War, the company also developed a prototype electric locomotive for service on what is now known as the East Coast Mainline.
Taken using my Raynox 0.7x wide-angle converter on 04 Feb 2015 at Locomotion, the Shildon branch of the National Railway Museum.
Shildon is of international significance as the "cradle of the railways".
Not until I was editing this image did I realize that this gull only had one leg...
As beautiful and wonderful as nature is, it is also often brutal and tough to survive in for many animals. It's amazing that maimed creatures like this often go on to survive and to carry on quite well despite their condition...

Two VH-3D helicopters arrive at Winfield House, the Official Residence of the US Ambassador. One is "Marine One" carrying the President of the United States and First Lady, the other members of his senior staff.
This looks bad, but the rider walked out of the pen, although a little wobbly. He mustered enough dignity to hobble out on one boot while the clown brought him the other one. It ended up at the other end of the pen!
"...Well that leaves me the last man standing, good.....I fucking deserve it after those two had me taking all the risks."
"Do you know any more about it? Not that anything can be done, I just... I don't know. I guess it would have been nice for any of it to make any sense." She snorts, once. "I guess that's impossible, in Midian."
"Why does it shock you? Sure, I've paid my respects.....they died with their boots on. ...I don't want to know anymore about it, no need. I never felt the need for revenge in cases to where just cause has taken place.....people die, it happens."
"You're right. It does. Death or disappearance. No rhyme or reason for any of it." With a wry smile, she finds his eyes again. "I guess in a way, we're alike. Turns out I'm the last one standing, too, once all the dust settled. Takes some getting used to. At least, for me it did."
He sent the remains of that cigarette crashing down into the ashtray, stubbing it out before letting it slip from his fingers. "Well here's to being the last of the standing..." Raising that soda can to toast before swigging. "...and cute little asses that belong to church-goers."
My first outing with the Summilux 75. Nailing close focus at f/1.4 is going to be a fun challenge. I don't have any 60mm ND filters yet so I shot f/5.6 or f/8 outside.

The Formula One teams gather for a first "F1 Live" event, this one held in Trafalgar Square, London, with less than 24 hours notice to fans, it was very well attended.
This is the second type such a show-off event was held in London for F1, the first was in 2004, held in Regent Street / Picadilly Circus, London.
This event held on Wednesday 12 July 2017.
