The Beijing Diary

Street Performer in Temple of Heaven

In my humble opinion, the Temple of Heaven in Beijing is the least "must-see" among Beijing's must-see tourist destinations. Aside from the actual Temple of Heaven, the rest of the temples in this vast place are ordinary by Beijing's temple standards.

But what sets this place apart is the many street performers you will see there. It's a collection of different performers, from musicians, to dancers, to martial artists and some showcasing traditional chinese sports.

Like this charming old chinese playing his traditional musical instrument. After playing, he asked for a dollar from a foreigner video filming him.

"One dollar..."

The caucasian man smiled and walked away.

Sempre in quel quartiere ;)

Qualcosa in televisione. :)

Benritrovati a tutti!!!! Piano piano arrivo con i commenti....

Well, I was a bit sick.... so i took a little break. Sometimes we need these days, no work, nothing to do, with the thoughts free to roam. A coffee. Something on TV. A forgotten book that you wanted so much to read. And my photos to arrange ... :)

Welcome back everyone!! Slowly I catch up with you for comments ....

JAMES MORRISON

At my delivery in Chehalis Washington, backed into my dock, then grabbed my camera to take this picture. Only 100 feet from the front of my truck. Tough job, huh?

note: My camera is set to Central time zone, but obviously Washington is Pacific, so two hours different.

Here's a link to the other shots I had to pick from. I liked all of them, but had to make a decision.

Every morning, one of the first things that I do is put in my contact lenses.

This particular tree caught my eye and stood out from the multitude looking out over the mountains.

Lake Wanaka with snow on the mountains is always worth a quick stop.

Artist Point and Mt. Shuksan. And that looks like one interesting way to get back down the mountain!

A perfect boy that I released on 10/1 decided to visit me today, 10/6, in the garden!

I wish he would set his GPS and get flying off to Mexico... it's getting late!!!

INTERESTING FACT:

Monarch Butterflies have an internal compass. The sun keeps them on course as well as the earth's magnetic field to help them navigate 2,500 miles to Mexico!

And looking forward to a hundred more! :)

This is my submission for the theme “Skies” in the group Smile on Saturday. The pilot is a local gentleman in his 80’s who has done stunt flying for years. This was a day in spring when he decided to do one last show before retiring for good. He put on a great show and showed us all how to live life to the fullest as long as you can. He also owned a pub that was beside a dam which was called the Dam Pub. It has moved locations but it is still in business.

you can guess it, it's a Tadao Ando and here you can see the opposite direction to Hilde's photo we uploaded a few days ago ...

Ando does what he often does, he combines water with concrete and glass, and combines building parts in a special angle to each other and combines a closed building part with an open building part, which at first still one-sided with roof dissolves later in a wall and roofless row of columns (you will see it later) ...

but the hinge from the closed to the open part of the building, which intersects with the main path, is decisive.

Here he makes a round recess in the roof. which marks the entrance and creates funny light and shadow games all day long ... the circle wanders and gets with the walls and the different substrates, like materials always new aspects ... so simple and easy ... so good ...

Not much snow yet this winter. We almost had just a few days with winter weather. This photo was taken one of these days.
