The covered walkway leading to Hillingdon Station in the middle of the night.

The day turned unexpectedly quite nice this morning for a few hours so I took myself off to Beacon Hill in Leicestershire, primarily to get some practice in with my wide angle and also look for mushrooms & toadstools.

Misty start this morning. Ideal! Just what the photographer ordered!

Jura the lurcher wants to get home it would seem

For my Glitz Lounge comrades to empathise, sympathise and understand why I simply cannot decide between Poison Ivy and Raven for our October 2008 Challenge.

Today I went to Melbourne Pool with a friend to photograph the birds. However on walking back to the car, we spotted this handsome fellow (or to be more accurate, he spotted us), and he sat there just waiting for us to reach him and deliver fuss and strokes. Such a lovely dog, a Long-Haired French Bulldog.

...see into the trees...

A snail out for a walk on a chain in a graveyard.

Just testing the night shot abilities of my phone.... not too shabby!

Nearly at the end of another October Challenge

We had a "Halloween Budget" designed by some student politicians yesterday. A cabinet entirely made up of people who have never run a business or generally had a GDP generating job. A chancellor who officially describes herself as an economist but who in fact worked at the Bank of England and Halifax Bank as a mid-tier IT manager. Not an economist then.

Too bad they will tank the UK economy, punish private businesses and anyone who dares to work hard, save or be a success. Inflation, interest rate rises, unemployment and negative growth for another five years then.

After they put all the family farms out of business with inheritance tax, big corporations will be able to snap up farmland cheaply. Guess what they'll do with all the environmental management?

Horrified.

If you are a forager brave enough to be nibbling on these things..... best not have anything to drink three days before or after. Any alcohol turns these poisonous. Even applying alcohol-based aftershave can cause a reaction. Avoid!

The black goo can be used as ink after boiling with a little water and cloves, or urine.

You can eat its tall shaggy relation, but I think I'd rather not

I've not done the October Challenge for a few years, so high time to get back into it.

This shot is a by-product of this weeks macro project, let's see how we go for the remaining 30 days ...

A gorgeous new piece from Candela Colors is my photo for today in the October photo-a-day challenge.

Explored! Oct 14 2023 # 181

A Ladybird in the garden! Not seen many this year so I did pursue it for quite a few shots before I got this one.

Friday 13th strikes again

Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

Out with my regular walking group today on a chilly, misty day, but no wind so some nice reflections to be seen.

Another gloriously warm October day. I decided on an e-bike ride but I’ve not been on it for a while and the battery was flat. Eventually charged and ready to go, camera in saddlebag. However most photos I took with my phone today, including this one.

I hadn't been into this church before.... but a 1.5 hour service today did slightly leave me examining the architecture!

Tunnel under the trainline in Reading on the way home from physio.

It's been 2 years since I've seen the sea, and even if it was only Skegness, it was grand. Picked one of the warmest October weekends on record I think, was like summer.

After 11 years with Photoshop CS6 I've been obliged to upgrade to the latest version as my new R6's RAWS don't work with the old version. This in turn required a OS update on my iMac. But Lo! It all works!

One of my favourite books: The Silence of Dogs in Cars

Day 6 October Challenge

Good thing Dodge was on his lead methinks, or there could have been a giant tsunami going across one of the ponds at our local nature reserve, which is down the hill and over the border and into darkest Essex

We just found an inquisitive octopus near the shore

This is one of the little mop-like seedheads that appear after a clematis has bloomed.

I thought that it looked quite abstract-y when I used the macro converter on the 50mm.

I hadn't intended to use the same photo for both but, since this one seems to have been 'Explored', I thought I would.

Great sky and more cattle in shot

October 17th. Busy! Hubby has gone off to Wales on his annual boys climbing trip. Kids in two different places at same time this evening. Plus it was a school strike day so all kids at home. Except the year 11 child who decided it would be more fun at school! And I had a full day at work!

Anyway I did manage to persuade said teenager to pose in front of the window before taking her out to the college open evening.

This was the 'silly' final shot, taken with the camera flash, as well as the Moroccan string lights at the back and with a little Snapseed magic, is the best of them all. Bokeh portrait!

I am using this shot for my unthemed 52 groups as it is probably my favourite of the week.

Should I stay or should I go? The cat at the back door this morning - after careful (and long) consideration decided to stay in after all.

It must be another October Challenge.... I treat it as a warm-up for a 365 project!

Today I met up Julia, Dominik and Holli for a quick shooting before they joined the 4th Hövelralley with their Ford Mustang Shelby Fastback GT 350 from 1967 which is in parking position in the background.

Hard to capture this precise timing, but not impossible!

We were asked by Rob's son to raise a glass of port to him on the day of his unattended funeral.

Lurcher vs lurcher game of chicken...

This is a zoom-blur image (zoom out the lens with a slower shutter speed and hold the camera still!)
