2 images taken this morning at sunrise, layered with a texture & birds.

One image is ICM & second image of the boat in focus. I like to combine both styles of photography.

One bird was in the original image.

I love the style of famous painter J. Turner & enjoy adding textures for this effect.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,

I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.

'Cause there's something in a Sunday

That makes a body feel alone.…

Happy to have got to day 8 with the same bunch of red lilies. This time I used macro lens with in camera movement for a creative look.

I wanted a grungy look for the final photo for these flowers.

Thrilled they lasted 10 days for this challenge

Oh....now I'll have to leave the house for a daily photo :)

A Fly Agaric toadstool. Autumnal. Beautiful. Dangerous. Don’t eat it

Amanita muscaria is a highly poisonous mushroom; the primary effects usually involve the central nervous system, and in severe poisoning, symptoms may manifest with coma and in rare cases lead to death.

The theme this week is Autumn/Spring.

I've tried to present a different perspective/genre of photography for the same lilies for the last 9 days.

This might the the last one....see what tomorrow brings.

As our weather is now in low 30 degrees Celsius - cut flowers don't usually last this long.

A last October image for Halloween

Some gorgeous little succulent flowers from one of the plants in Adrienne's fence garden.

October Photo-a-day, 25/31.

On the way home from a lovely weekend away today, we stopped at Nullawil, a small country town in the Wimmera - Mallee region of Victoria, to photograph this gorgeous silo art featuring Jimmy the gorgeous Kelpie.

The silo was painted in July 2019 by one of the best artists in the world (IMHO), Sam Bates (aka Smug). The silo took 14 days to complete.

As a nod to the history of Nullawil the registration disc worn by Jimmy has a Galah and stick engraved on it. The name of the town is derived from two Aboriginal words, 'Nulla' which means killing stick, and "Wil' derived from the term "willock' meaning Galah.

This is also my first post in the October challenge, where I will try to take, and post on the same day, a photo every day for the month of October.

For the October Photo-a-day challenge, another dash out to the garden for this shot of some of the leaves on one of our Electric Pink Cordyline plants.

October Photo-a-day, 20/31.

The theme for this week is Travel, and was set by me.... so I'd better make some effort eh? Ironically I didn't do much travelling this week.

There's a fair bit of PP in here. I actually went to take a different shot, so this was a complete ad lib.

Australasian Grebes on the pond near the Somerton Road car park at Woodlands Historic Park.

October Photo-a-day challenge, 27/31

A rainy/ foggy woodland walk means it's time for one of my patented Woodland Warps.

Rainy day here in Melbourne, and Luna's just thinking, "when am I going to get to go for a walk".

October, a photo a day.

Day 27 October Challenge

Willow trees on a swampy piece of ground on our walk today. We managed to get out in between showers this afternoon. I decided to take out the 10-22 lens on one of the old Canons - oops, one shot and the battery died! I managed to take another couple by warming the thing in my hand. Very cross with myself, the light and the skies were beautiful! That will teach me!

Judi May invited me to the October challenge: a month in 31 pictures, so here is my first entry. I am probably going to be a day behind so will have to search my phone for 1 October entry. I went for a walk on the Dam wall of the Cardinia Reservoir yesterday, 2 October, one of Melbourne's large water storage areas to drink in the horizon and reflections of cloud on water. It was an overcast and humid day after extensive overnight rain

The same red lilies (slowly wilting), this time with slow shutter & camera movement ICM. Texture added in post.

I deleted the first upload of this image. I wanted a lowkey image & looked ok on my desktop monitor, but then on my phone/ipad looked way too dark.

So second go at posting..

Day 17 October Challenge

No problems finding a photo for the challenge today, on a day out to Chippenham Park gardens (venturing into Cambridgeshire - how brave!) I took absolutely masses of photographs. The problem today was which one?

Macro photo of coloured pencils to be used for some of my challenges:

(1) Macro Mondays - 10/10/16 Pencils etc.

(2) Photo 9/31 for the October picture a day challenge

(3) Photo 20/116 - "Abstract" for the 116 Pictures in 2016 Challenge.

Day 4 October Challenge

Storm Amy today, sooo . . .trying to capture a bit of movement in the trees today, at Clare Country Park - especially challenging, as there were a lot of people about and I had Dodgie with me, who wanted to greet everyone, in between trying to chase the ducks and the SQUIRRELS!!!

Yeh! I finished the 31 day challenge.

Thanks to Judi May for the invite - I've enjoyed it.

I've finished with a photo of Hippeastrum flowers, that I started this month with.

I incorrectly called them lilies, but have been corrected by my neighbour, who grew these flowers.

It's that time again when I remind everyone about the October Challenge. Just under a month until the fun begins.

The idea is to take a photo each day for the month of October and post it to the group. We welcome old members and new so why not take a look and put it in your diary. Link to group below:

Little Pied Cormorant on the Moonee Ponds Creek at Woodlands Historic Park today.

October, photo-a-day challenge, 8/31.

The late great Bruno invites you to join in the October Challenge. Not long now but enough time to get yourself motivated for a photo a day during the month of October.

I hope you'll join in but even if you decide it's not for you then I hope you've enjoyed seeing this photo of my beautiful boy...I still miss him but he left me with wonderful memories.

EDIT: I forgot to add the link!

I think it was the white fluffiness of this Reed head that drew my eye. Anyway, this is my October Photo-a-day image for today, it's what happens when the birds don't cooperate!

Todays photo for the October photo-a-day challenge was taken whilst walking Luna in Woodlands this afternoon. So many gorgeous trees to shoot, and normally I don't like my tree images, but I don't mind this one.

9/31

Slowly, slowly the leaves are turning

Day 18 October Challenge

A walk up the lane reveals that the Tree People are gradually appearing as the leaves are starting to fall.

My torch ran out of batteries so I had to resort to a mobile phone light instead!

Day 2 October Challenge

Busy day today, so introducing my go-to subject for days when I can't find anything very inspiring! This is Dodge, my 11 year old rescue border collie, in a spot we traditionally photograph around about June time, when the crops are at their most attractive. Fortunately the field has just been 'tickled' and set with winter wheat, which means that as it has been dry, we can still walk the path without breaking an ankle! I guess if I had the air ambulance would have made an interesting subject! Lol!

I've been painting most of the day and nearly forgot about the photo-day-challenge, but here's some white Convolvulus flowers catching the late afternoon sun.

October Photo-a-day challenge, 19/31.

Day 8 October Challenge

I love cosmos, just lovely simple flowers, bees love them, I like the way the light catches them, their lovely feathery foliage, the colours - and they're easy to grow, too. I'm busy collecting seed of my favourite coloured ones and saving them in a big brown paper bag ready for next year.

Makes a change from dogs, doesn't it! : )

The October challenge is to take a photo each day for the whole month. Why not join in the fun and get those creative juices flowing? October is a good month for those lovely autumnal/fall colours and don't forget the spooky side of things...and pumpkins, so many pumpkins!

I'd love to see you there...here is the link to the group:

Day 21 October Challenge

Dodgie sitting proudly on the path, with Cavendish Church just visible in the background. Cavendish is the next village on to us, well known for it's 'chocolate box' almshouses on the green, near to the church. I did promise dogs, mostly our Dodgie!

Busy day today, flu jabs and then food out followed by a visit to the theatre, so taken on an early walk. Not sure what we'll get tomorrow either, busy day tomorrow too - yoga and a visit to the hospital to bite my fingernails and hopefully get some good results!

Here in Brisbane the news is full of storm/rain weather forecast. As a country often in drought, it's big news when a wet Spring is forecast. We had approx 50mm overnight.

So a quick grab of these flowers from the garden, still with water drops on them, are todays photo of the day.

Of course we never complain about rain.....except when we have floods with cyclones, which happens most years in Queensland.

Reposting this photo from three years ago as a little reminder that it's almost October and those of you that may fancy joining me in the challenge...take a photo a day for the month of October...now is the time to join the group. It's good fun and not as challenging as a 365. I'm going to have to dust off my camera and get ready for action.

Hope to see you there.

Day 2/31 October 2023 A Month in 31 Pictures

October, a photo-a-day, 5/31.

Only just over a week until the October Challenge opens for business. I do hope you'll join us and invite your friends...everyone welcome. The challenge is to take a photo every day and post it to the group. Link below:

Image of a door in London, shot on iPhone

Yeah, I know, just another Woodlands photo, but my walk there with Luna today was really my only photo opportunity.

October Photo-a-day challenge, 24/31.

The theme this week is Monochrome. I've gone with an alternative to black and white for a grey and white Jenson who is a great posing whippet. This Topaz Adjust filter is called mustard. Mustard on your hot dog?
