TS Elliot said that, "April is the cruellest month." Well, if that is true, then, since October is as far away from April as you can get, October must be the kindest month. I agree. October is, by far, my favorite time of year. The beauty of the trees, the coolness and crispness of the air, the fragrance of burning leaves....you can't get better than that. Did I mention pumpkin pie? Well I should have.

There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October." —Nathaniel Hawthorne
A couple weeks ago I went to Nisqually NWR and there were tons of frogs and snakes and turtles all over the place.
I'm guessing this garter snake was heading off to a warm hole in the ground to take it easy until it gets warm out again.

Red maple leaf caught in a wrought iron fence gate. I barely had time to fire off two shots, just about totally blinded by the sun, before it blew away. Seems like even inanimate objects want to hold onto October. HFF!

Happy Friday...enjoy your weekend!
Have a great Sunday!
This is in the open space near my house before we had the snow. I have been out a few times trying to find more color and it's all just GONE! If I find a nice looking tree it's in a parking lot!
After spending hours in the field this October, a simple and straight forward portrait of some trees, shot as an afterthought, has emerged as a personal favorite. Go figure.
Took a long, and different morning walk with the dogs today.
They were a bit suspicious about climbing up here, but yet curious.
I think they liked the view up here too.
