pond in Kadriorg park

After a grey Saturday the weather improved significantly so that we used Sunday for an extended trip to locations north of the Wiehengebirge to visit the Große Torfmoor, a wildlife sanctuary between Lübbecke and Minden in East-Westphalia. The area is a mix of moorland, lakes and small forests and performs perfect Autumn colours at the end of October.

Thank you very much dear Flickr friends for visiting !!!

Have a sunny October week !

~ OCTOBER FEST! ~ The Award Tree ~

As of 12/20/2021, this pic is lovingly dedicated to my sweet friend, Victoriah (Tori) Oriel Raine. We shared October birthdays.

Farewell, Angel. I miss you already.

You flew away on angels' wings far too soon, so you never heard me say it...

I will never forget you.

How-Beckham Mill, Wisconsin

Evenings are coming earlier each day now, as the orange glow from the sunset radiates behind the trees, the orange glow on the limbs shows the season.

A whimsical look at October’s gifts....

The trees are in their autumn beauty,

The woodland paths are dry,

Under the October twilight the water

Mirrors a still sky...

-- William Butler Yeats

We got about 5 inches of powdery delicious snow last night...

It was 65 degrees just earlier yesterday!!!

O hushed October morning mild,

Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;

Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,

Should waste them all.

The crows above the forest call;

Tomorrow they may form and go.

O hushed October morning mild,

Begin the hours of this day slow.

Make the day seem to us less brief.

Hearts not averse to being beguiled,

Beguile us in the way you know.

Release one leaf at break of day;

At noon release another leaf;

One from our trees, one far away.

Retard the sun with gentle mist;

Enchant the land with amethyst.

October mornings are often foggy and full of mystery. Everything looks, feels and sounds different. This was shot just after sunrise and only 5 minutes later this area was sunny and clear.

Finally starting to see those fall colors pop up here and there.

Harvest moon - didn't get out early enough for the orange moonrise...Tomorrow!

October gave a party;

The leaves by hundreds came -

The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,

And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,

And everything was grand,

Miss Weather led the dancing,

Professor Wind the band.

Sometimes you just need to withdraw from all the clamor of the news and have a quiet moment.

"Quiet is peace. Tranquility. Quiet is turning down the volume knob on life. Silence is pushing the off button. Shutting it down. All of it."

I must admit I cheated, I dragged the HUE's on the green and oranges to make it more... reddish, I don't know when I will have time to go for trekking maybe late in fall.

After an exciting week in The Netherlands and Belgium I felt the need to move and used the late Friday afternoon for a hiking tour around Porta Westfalica underneath the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument. The weather was just perfect, the temperatures have dropped but still too warm for the season. I need to check the pictures again in a few days, got my first glasses just some hours before. Still a little bit strange...but I will get used to the new situation.

Hücker Moor is a nice little lake in the Herford area (Northwest Germany). Peat was cut here more than a century ago and created this lovely landscape. Today the place is a great location for wildlife and worth a trip for the local folks in all seasons. Ostwestfalen, Germany
