The Rosette Nebula is not the only cosmic cloud of gas and dust to evoke the imagery of flowers -- but it is the most famous. At the edge of a large molecular cloud in Monoceros, some 5,000 light years away, the petals of this rose are actually a stellar nursery whose lovely, symmetric shape is sculpted by the winds and radiation from its central cluster of hot young stars. The stars in the energetic cluster, cataloged as NGC 2244, are only a few million years old, while the central cavity in the Rosette Nebula, cataloged as NGC 2237, is about 50 light-years in diameter. The nebula can be seen firsthand with a small telescope toward the constellation of the Unicorn (Monoceros).

I over-processed this one to make the double rainbow more evident.

The last over-processed ornament of the year. Promise...

16-03-10 Ok so I have probably completely over-processed this. I was trying a new technique I had read about and although I am happy to use this as my 365 it's not how I thought it would turn out. I processed this in lightroom by sliding the "blacks" slider up to 100 and then resuing detail by compensating with the "fill light" slider. I then imported it into colour efex pro and added "tonal contrast" this had brought a lot of noise into the image so I ran it through Nik's Dfine 2 software and that smoothed it out. If you are wondering what it is it is a really expensive lamp that is in the window of a local light fitting store.

Images Viewed: The story of an iconic image. Via Petapixel. I used to have that on my wall!

Other Inspiration: I got some new gear today. Well I have had it for a while but I received an adaptor today that finally let me use it! I wont go into detail but it has made me feel like a complete amateur again!

This really pops on black!!

I might have over processed this one, but I like how it seems almost computer generated.

The Eden Project, Cornwall. Heavily cropped to avoid tourists, arguably over processed. I still like it. But then I'm a sucker for bridges!

Heavily (over) processed Hubble Space Telescope image of the "Pillars of Creation" in the Eagle Nebula (M16).

I know this is way over processed. Just experimenting.

I need to stop over processing...

I've just been toying with over-processing some of my photos. This is from the 2014 California Mille.

I honestly don't know why I find this joke so funny... It's lame, but I laugh every time...

I like it like this...

I sometimes tend to over-process.

This damned heat knocks me flat.

Apparently I am photographing my torso this week.

Also, it appears I enjoy over-processing my self-portraits at times. What can I say, I'm having fun... :)

I didn't have the energy or the motivation to do anything else. And then I didn't even bother to upload it, but here it is! Max is finally exploring some other parts of the house. I had a stop-motion video all the set up and ready for today, but then flickr wouldn't upload it :( Oh well. This photo is way over-processed...

Random Fact about Max:

Max doesn't chew. On anything. Ever. Well, other than food, that is... he doesn't bite cables, he doesn't chew on furniture, he doesn't even chew on the wood in his cage! A quite remarkable bunny.

Processed (and over processed) picture of the bottle of mugi-cha (roasted barley tea) I had for dinner.

Please don't pinch my pictures. If you'd like to use them, then let me know. I probably won't charge, but it's nice to be nice, right?

An over-processed HDR, made with 3 exposures. basically pushed it to the limits and thought the effect was interesting and verging on cool. What do you think?

Slightly over-processed (I'm experimenting with Snapseed), but I was pleased with how crisp it looks despite being a cellphone shot out the window of a moving train

I think it fits...what about you?

I'm over processed, colored, and straightened because perfection is what we sell and who we want you to be.

I know a lot of these are pretty over-processed, but I have to say I have enjoyed the learning process.

Feels so over processed, this image just doesn't feel right. The shadows on the back bug me, her pale skin doesn't look right. composition seems slightly off. I don't know what to do with this image

Inside the Atom at Wycoller, giving HDR a bash, maybe abit too over processed.

Yay! My stranger didn't become my picture of the day. :) I really want to keep those two projects separate, but they keep colliding.

So this is where I was last night and here is the link to learn more about it - the eXtreme tour

I usually don't like the bands that come through here but was pleasantly surprised this time and really liked three of them. I took a ton of photos hoping to end my slump. I don't know if it worked, but I'll share some of my results anyway.

El Kitsch, trash and over process... is totally assumed...

Yes, I know I am addicted to over-processing. It is just for the time being until I can figure out how to get my camera to take nice pics all on its own. Then I'll calm down for sure - one can only hope!

I have purposely way over processed this image, trying to create a drawing/painting with imagery, rather than a photo using both Snapseed and GIMP.

I've just got back from an incredible trip to Rio De Janeiro and Niteroi, wow what a country Brasil is. At times I felt like I was back in the 1970’s, everything felt very retro with loads of VW Beetle cars and electrical poles that were way over loaded with too many cables.

I’ve come back feeling inspired to use even more colour in my photography, and I’m hoping to “paint my images” through processing and create a look of my own, which one could describe as gawdy, but I want to capture that carnival feel and incredible vast blue skies that shone upon me during my trip.
