Captured in Western Springs, Auckland. Eastern rosellas are native to south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania. They were introduced to New Zealand in the early 1900s, beginning with Dunedin in 1910, then Auckland (around 1920) and Wellington in the 1960s. The South Island population has remained relatively small, confined to the Dunedin area. There are isolated records from Lyttelton Harbour, Invercargill, and Stewart Island. The two North Island populations have spread considerably, and are almost joined in the Rangitikei region. Eastern rosella are now common throughout many parts of the North Island, in particular Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Wairarapa and Wellington.
Eastern rosellas could potentially have detrimental effects for native parrots through spreading parrot-specific disease organisms not otherwise present. North Island rosella populations have been found to carry Beak and Feather Disease Virus (BFDV), a parrot specific virus which could be harmful to native parrots. Additionally, they may compete with native species for food and/or tree cavities, which they nest in. Rosellas cause localised damage to grain and fruit crops in New Zealand, including stripping flowers from some fruit trees.

I AM
I am born free
in a field with wild flowers in my hair
the sounds of nature first to touch my ears
the softness and warmth of the earth beneath me
first sight the bluest sky filled my eyes
and coloured them for all my life
the sun shone bright and hot that day
bathed my hair and always stayed
corn-coloured tresses and cornflower blue eyes
wild and messy with no earthly ties
my Dad delivered me you see
the only ones there were my Mum and me
small bunnies in the fields
small birds on the wing
the joy of my life
to them was everything
later I would run barefoot and free
laughing pure and clear
climbing all the trees
but then their lives both ended suddenly
and it seemed that time stood still
and everything went dark for me
and darker still when I fell ill
it's hard to understand the complexities of life
for some it's a walk in the park
for others endless grief and strife
with no flickering flame to light the dark
but all I can say about the mysteries that surround me
is that even through the darkest; wildest storms
it's still possible to find the light
it's still possible to break free
the heavy shroud I wore
too big for my young shoulders
slipped and fell and with it tore
the melancholy mantel
some days are still seeped in sad memories
but mostly I'm ok

We are both sat here revising our lists! Please do not be alarmed! It is a work in progress!! It gives us a shared interest and the only way I could keep him still for more than 5 minutes!! ; 0))
I normally don’t really build stuff that only works from one angle, but this was a fun exception. Also a way to experiment with a layered background, which ended up being pretty annoying, but it worked out well enough.

The Temple of Hera Lacinia, or Juno Lacinia, otherwise known as Temple D, is a Greek temple of Magna Graecia in the Valle dei Templi, a section of the ancient city of Agrigentum (ancient Greek Akragas, modern Agrigento) in Sicily.
It was built in the middle of the fifth century BC, about the year 450 BC, and in period and in style belongs to the Archaic Doric period. Signs of a fire which followed the Siege of Akragas of 406 BC have been detected, and long after that the temple was restored at the time of the Roman province of Sicily, with the original terracotta roof being replaced by one of marble, with a more steeply inclined slope on the eastern side. The temple was originally dedicated to the Greek god Hera, Roman Juno. If still in use by the 4th-and 5th century, it would have been closed during the persecution of pagans in the late Roman Empire.
The building is a peripterotic Doric temple, with six columns on the short sides (hexastyle) and thirteen on the long sides, according to a canon derived from the models of the Greek homeland and also used for its "twin", the Temple of Concordia, with which it shares general dimensions, as if some elements of the buildings had been standardised. The temple's floor plan is around 38.15 metres long by 16.90 metres wide.
The front columns differ slightly in width, tapering at the ends and swelling at their middles. The peristyle of thirty-four 6.44 metre-high columns, each formed from four stacked drums, rests on a crepidoma of four steps. The whole edifice is on a raised spur, which is in large part artificial. In front of the eastern face are notable remains of the ancient altar.
The interior is composed of a cella, with no internal colonnade, of the double antis type, with its pronaos at the front mirrored by the opisthodomos at the back – both framed by two ranks of columns (distyle). Two stairs for the inspection of the roof, or perhaps for religious purposes, were built into the wall separating the naos from the pronaos.
The northern colonnade with the architrave and part of the frieze is completely preserved, while the colonnades on the other three sides are only partly surviving, with four columns missing and nine severely damaged, and they almost entirely lack their architraves. Some small elements of the naos remain, mostly the foundations of its exterior walls. The building has been being restored using anastylosis since the eighteenth century.

These birds are actually part of the Cardinal family. We are lucky to see them at our feeder in the backyard. This one I spotted on one of the trails I walked. The males are quite colorful while the females are primarily brown. I am trying to get a good shot of the female without having the feeder included. She really hides in the trees otherwise and the trees are filling in with leaves now.

Pacific City to Newport. 50 miles with one grueling painful climb due to a missed turn. But a wonderful sunny day otherwise.
Spanien verfügt über ein sehr umfangreiches Netz an Schnellfahrstrecken, fast jede große Stadt hat bereits eine Anbindung. Im Jahr 2019 wurde auch die Strecke nach Granada fertiggestellt. Der 125 Kilometer lange Abschnitt von Antequera bis Granada wurde dabei überwiegend neu trassiert, nur in wenigen Bereichen wurde die Bestandstrasse genutzt und entsprechend ausgebaut. Die Reste der alten Strecke sind ansonsten nicht mehr in Betrieb. Einer der nicht neu trassierten Bereiche befindet sich um Loja, hier ist allerdings auch noch der Bau einer Neubaustrecke geplant. Aktuell nutzen aber die Hochgeschwindigkeitszüge noch die alte, kurvige Trasse. Am 08.12.2024 fotografierte ich hier einen 102 auf seiner Fahrt als Ave 3931 von Granada nach Barcelona.
Spain has a very extensive network of high-speed routes; almost every large city already has a connection. The route to Granada was also completed in 2019. The 125 kilometer long section from Antequera to Granada was largely rerouted; the existing route was only used in a few areas and expanded accordingly. The remains of the old route are otherwise no longer in operation. One of the areas that has not been rerouted is around Loja, although the construction of a new line is also planned here. However, the high-speed trains currently still use the old, winding route. On December 8th, 2024 I photographed a 102 here on its journey as Ave 3931 from Granada to Barcelona.

Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Decided to take a trip up north to Dorrigo , NSW, and visited Dorrigo National Park. What a stunning Rainforest !!! Never photographed inside such a dense rainforest before and took the opportunity to use my flash and flash extender {MagMod) for the very first time. So glad I did otherwise I wouldn't have been able to capture this little Robin hand holding my 80-400mm lens. Still feel I have a lot more to learn about using flash extenders especially in rainforest's but the results I got with this image I was happy with. Any hints and tips using flash and flash extenders especially in rainforests truly appreciated.
