The temples of Khajuraho were built between 950 to 1050 A.D. during the Chandela dynasty of Central India (These rulers claimed descent from the moon, hence the name Chand-ela). After the decline of the Chandela dynasty in 13th century, the temples were left under the cover of dense date palm trees for many years, which gave the city of Khajuraho its name, Khajur in Hindi means a date. In the ancient times it was known as Vatsa.
In 1838, a British army engineer, Captain T.S. Burt rediscovered them. By that time only 22 of the original 85 temples had survived.
During the Chandela rule, many towns in Bundelkhand including Khajuraho were home to large and flourishing Jain communities. At Khajuraho the Jains apparently lived on the east side of town. A number of Jain temples from that period have survived in this part of Khajuraho in various states of preservation. Many Jain inscriptions from the Chandela period can be seen at Khajuraho. All the Jain temples are now enclosed within a compound wall constructed in early 20th century, with the exception of the Ghantai temple.
Two of the large temples - Parshvanath Temple and Adinath Temple - still stand in a good state of preservation.
The Adinath Temple contains an idol with an inscription dated Sam 1215 during the rule of Chandella king Madanavarman. Dedicated to Jain Tirthankar (God), adinath, the temple is lavishly embellished with sculpted figures, including yakshis.
This would probably look ok with some texture.
On the road today I came across 6 lanes of peak hour traffic completely stopped due to 2 ducks and 4 baby chicks crossing the road, wish I had my camera, it was good to see.

*based on the legend of Atalaya's curse of Meleguerro who tried to rape her while asleep, /It is said, not confirmed/ that Maleguerro hid behind a tree upon discovering Atalaya tending her sheep, when she fell asleep he tried to rape her only to discover that his handsome body turned into that of a beast which he was forced to devour only leaving the bones of a yet to be identified beast. p.s. To-day, we can trace Atalaya's birth to a town named after her in the province of Veraguas, Panama. In later years, it is said /not confirmed/ that she became under the protection of Yorosobi and Chango giving her extraordinary powers helping those who believe in her, to administer curses to those whose who's honors were tarnished.
Crisp Point Light sits on a remote portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula along the Lake Superior shore. The lighthouse sits west of Paradise and north of Newburry and was completed by 1904. It is quite an adventure to get there, but it is a beautiful site. Were there no black biting flies, it would have been a perfect day. I will write about this later. Still, I was able to get around while being eaten alive by the worst bugs on the planet.

Matthew 26:26~28 And when they were taking food, Jesus took bread and, after blessing it, he gave the broken bread to the disciples and said, Take it; this is my body.
And he took a cup and, having given praise, he gave it to them, saying,
Take of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the testament, which is given for men for the forgiveness of sins.

The Battles of Saratoga, sometimes referred to as The Battle of Saratoga (September 19 and October 7, 1777) conclusively decided the fate of British General John Burgoyne's army in the American Revolutionary War, (known in the UK as the American War of Independence) and are generally regarded as a turning point in the war. The battles were fought eighteen days apart on the same ground, nine miles (14.5 km) south of Saratoga, New York. Burgoyne, whose campaign to divide New England from the southern colonies had started well but slowed due to logistical problems, won a small tactical victory over General Horatio Gates and the Continental Army in the September 19 Battle of Freeman's Farm at the cost of significant casualties. His gains were erased when he again attacked the Americans in the October 7 Battle of Bemis Heights and the Americans captured a portion of the British defenses. Burgoyne was therefore compelled to retreat, and his army was surrounded by the much larger American force at Saratoga, forcing him to surrender on October 17. News of Burgoyne's surrender was instrumental in formally bringing France into the war as an American ally, having previously given supplies, ammunition and guns, notably the de Valliere which played an important role in Saratoga.[8] French formal participation changed the war to a global conflict. This war also resulted in Spain contributing to the war on the American's side.

One of the most beautiful Goan beaches, although not as peaceful as it used to be (sometimes referred to as the Goan lost paradise). Palolem Beach is long beach now entirely filled with rooms and huts and restaurants, sometimes with live music. There's also a market for tourists. Walk the beach at night with a flashlight and you'll be amazed by crabs running away from you.
Take a walk to Monkey Island... You will spot this island to your right on entering the beach... you can walk along the beach and across some rocks during low tide and reach the island, during high tide water covers and makes it impossible to walk across. The island has a network of trails to explore and the more adventurous can traverse the rocks on the periphery of the island. Make sure you carry your water bottle and be careful, people have injured themselves walking over these rocks.
Further on to the right is Butterfly Beach. You'll need a boat to get there but worth a trip for a change of scenery. It has a very steep beach, so deep that you can dive in from the waters edge if you time your dive correctly.
Further on still is Honeymoon Beach, a small strip of beach which generally brings you total seclusion. These islands are usually visited by couples who want get away from the prying eyes of tourists.
The best time for a boat ride to these islands is either in the morning at 07:00 or in the evening around 17:00 when you can see the setting sun from the boat. You need to bargain really hard with the boatsman to strike a good deal , there are quite a few guys running these boats and it would be best to talk to 3-4 guys before you strike a deal.
Palolem is a small beach town but do take long walks (carry a torch/flashlight if walking along the beach at night!). If you happen to be there on a full moon night , its quite an experience stolling on the beach on a full moon night with the islands clearly visible in the moon light, you will find people partying late into the night upto 2-03:00 in the morning. Immediately to the south of Palolem, which gets busier every season, is the beautiful Columb Bay where you can stay in a comfortable yet eco friendly complex. Just beyond is Patnem beach which used to be much quieter than Palolem but has a few guest houses and beach shacks.
You can take a boat ride in the river joining the sea on northern side of the Palolem beach.
Very quiet and more in the 1960s than in the 21st century (thank goodness). No Jet Skis - no rip-offs or touts - very good locals who make this a unique place in India - one that the authorities could learn a lot from - more the sort of place you come to compose music on the beach.

I'm old enough to remember when this was still a branch of the Bank of Montreal, adjacent to Sam's. Sam's acquired it sometime in the 80s, and after that, it was part of the store. I remember this building was a great place to get your hands on retro stuff from the 70s and 80s.
I wanted to keep the shadow of the camera and tripod in the shot as I was aware of the shadows of the living trees cast over the dead and the 'lifeless' church. The tripod and camera represented my intrusion to this balance of life and death.
Truth is, I had a helluva' job cloning it out because I'm tired, so left it in. :-) But then I saw that it added to the curve of shadows which form part of the froeground, so now I like it left in.
Off camera flash used to lighten the gable wall.
