Bike lanes on Victoria's (BC) Fort St. connecting downtown to a variety of destinations are well used by a broad demographic. Victoria has high percentages of women among the very strong population of commuter cyclists in a city that leads the country in mode share for transportational cycling.
Though concerns have been expressed about the design and numbers of cyclists on this older design from the mid 1990s, traffic share appears to be well above average for cycling in Victoria's capital region.
Downtown sections are alongside a narrow parking lane with high turnover, and a minimum standard 1.5 metre marked bike lane. Further upstream, newer sections interrupt on street parking with curb extensions and more generous spacing, emphasizing an evolving and continuous corridor that provides much utility to cyclists.
Local accident statistics indicate that improved cycling corridors with bike lanes and other facilities are not correlated with car/bike collisions. Most reported incidents have taken place on unimproved routes.
Elsewhere, research indicates that even narrow parking lanes and marked bike lanes encourage cyclists to ride further from door zones, reducing their risks of collision. Cambridge, MA, is the source of this and other useful studies on the performance of bike lanes.

The New England Holocaust Memorial was built to foster memory of and reflection on one of the great tragedies of our time, the Holocaust (Shoah). The effort was begun by a group of survivors of Nazi concentration camps who have found new homes and new lives in the Boston area. Dedicated in October, 1995, over 3000 individuals and organizations from across the community joined in sponsoring the project.
Made for the HMPC swap on swapbot. Theme: "numbers." I had such a mental block on this one - - funny b/c I thought the theme would be easy. But, what I had envisioned just Did Not want to come out onto paper. Does that ever happen to you? The background is oil pastel blocks in different shapes. I tried to experiment with acetone to see if that might do anything neat but it just ended up eating up the gesso. I covered the spots with black gesso, trying to salvage it, added the book pages from a very old book, with the edges stained with black ink. The numbers, though are significant to me - - they are birthdates of my family.

The event started From the Bridgwater at the Albion Rugby Football Club, taking a route to Wells Via Street and Glastonbury,
then heading to Wedmore and Chedder George. After a short stop onwards to Burrington Combe via the Mendips and then headed
back to Bridgwater to the original start point. All riders donated £10 to take part.

Sixty-three units were rebuilt from the 3100 and 3200 Classes from 2005 to become the 3700 Class. The rebuild included the removal of one of the cabs. They operate in freight haulage on Queensland’s electrified network, with all members of the class continuing in service.

The Goonyella railway system is located in Central Queensland, Australia. It services the coal mining area of the Bowen Basin, carrying coal to the Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminals 20 km southeast of Mackay, as well as products to other destinations by way of connections to the North Coast Line at Yukan and the Central Line at Burngrove via the Gregory coal mine branch. It is also connected to the coal loading terminal at Abbot Point (20 km northwest of Bowen) by the GAP line. The line opened on 5 November 1971 and runs for 477 kilometres. The Goonyella system is narrow gauge 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) and electrified using 25 kV 50 Hz.[3] The line has been duplicated from Hay Point to Wotonga (174 km) and features CTC signalling over the entire system.

The Goonyella Coal Chain services 25 mines, carrying coal from BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, Anglo Coal, Bravus Mining & Resources, Macarthur Coal, Peabody Energy Australia, Xstrata and ANCI. The system currently operates under a demand-pull model, with rail haulages being designated by the ports, and the shipping system.
The rail line transports coal from the German Creek coal mine, Foxleigh coal mine, Norwich Park coal mine, Lake Vermont Mine, Saraji coal mine, Peak Downs Mine, Millennium Mine, Poitrel Mine, Moorvale Mine, Burton Downs Mine, Carborough Downs Mine, Issac Plains Mine, Moranbah North coal mine, Goonyella Riverside Mine, Hail Creek coal mine, Clermont Mine, Riverside Mine, North Goonyella coal mine, South Walker Creek coal mine, and Blair Athol coal mine.

Holons are topological enfoldings of a non-breakable, dynamic, indestructible, very elastic Membrane. They can explain gravity, the fundamental forces in nature and physics, and the fundamental interconnectivity and interactions between all beings and all objects.
Holons are multi-layered "spaces". A holon contains always parts of the two parents Membrane peaks. The penetrator is Yang (male, lingam) and the acceptor is Yin (female, Yoni).
The two Yin membrane parts cover partly the Yang peak.
In the simplest form the holon has only three layers. When holons combine to more complex holons there are much more layers. And even the orientation (which peak is active and which is passive?) influences the outcome, since the unbrokenness implicates a non-commutative reality, where magical mathematical commutative tricks are not allowed or causally possible.
This concept shows the Concept of the Universal Energy Coupling. The essence is how two elements of Neutral Energy (Zero Field Energy) can couple/join because one is active and one is passive, making together a new specific energetic union. Such new holon can be a fundamental particle in physics, that is logically constructed by the dynamics of a single cosmological membrane. So we don't need Quantum Uncertainty (HUP) to explain nature.
This approach makes it clear how the Union of BODY and MIND is topologically constructed, and how consciousness fits in this.
