Hong Kong Transport - Misc. Vehicles

The Hong Kong Van Culture and some oddities

Quite a number of these vehicles are listed | shown in other albums ie Trucks

This is for vehicles that do not fit into the obvious catagories such as large trucks, buses, etc and I should point out that quite a few brands that offer VANS also sell them as a CAR making it hard to categorise, Mercedes Benz, Hyundai, Toyota and Volkswagen are an example.

☛ This list of Misc. Vehicles can include:

Hearses ✚ Tow Trucks ✚ Armoured Vans ✚ Garbage Trucks ✚ Delivery Vehicles ✚ Ice Cream Vans ✚ Bucket Crane Trucks ✚ Road Cleaning Trucks ✚ Parcel Delivery Vehicles ✚ Utility Company Vehicles ✚ Medium Sized Company Vehicles ✚ Village Vehicles ( seen on our Outlying Islands ) ✚ Company Vans such as the popular Toyota Hiace + Nissan Urvan to name 2 brands ✚ Vans with NO company markings which get involved in anything and everything if you get my meaning.

☛Note that there are some oddities such as Rickshaws, Steamrollers, Diggers and Fork Lift Trucks and such

These are privately owned vehicles although a lot of vehicles are owned by companies with contracts with the Hong Kong Government.

Any Government OWNED Vehicle in this section has a licence plate starting AM

Naturally some of these vehicles have personalized licence plates which they buy at Government Auction!

I found this serial number(?) under the right, back corner of the typewriter: 805. That other mark seems to be a "v" or else a stray "7" (model number?). There is another, perhaps incidental, mark that looks like a long "7" or "L" near that rod, but it seems too long and irregular to be struck with a metal typeface.

I wish I could publish these in smaller batches, but what with the number of shots taken over the weekend, then with Heritage Weekend and the backlog from the American trip, time and uploads are precious.

-------------------------------------------

It is Triennial time again in Funky Folkestone, and with two Gormley's to see, I thought we would get the as early as possible, but not too early to miss breakfast or check on the orchids at the Monument.

A glorious morning; no wind and low tide which made the idea of entering the town through between the harbour arms ON FOOT possible.

It was, although there was much laying water and deep mud surrounding the boats, so we made our escape via the tiny beach beside the sea wall.

The old Harbour Branch Line has, sadly, been partly covered to make it a walkway, with wild plants suffering in the poor soil into which they had been planted.

Although the rails have been left, which is the best we could hope for, really.

And beyond the station is having a lot of work done too, a new canopy installed, and I suspect the same pathway will continue through the station and out to the harbour arm beyond.

It was a glorious morning, a fine day for a walk and looking at the art installed.
