When people started leaving (and forgetting) items in the pantry fridge, the notes popped up that a cleanup would take place every Friday. "Every" Friday turned into "whenever we remember" so it can get pretty bad.
The latest batch of signs, however, was actually met with a response.

NOTES is a series I started in 1968. NOTE TO ERIK was the second one completed but the footage goes back to 1966. When I saw the footage I loved it, but didn't feel ready to deal with it. Seeing Sharon Moss again, who had moved to NYC from Storrs, CT inspired me to return to this footage to make a note to a mutual friend ERIK KIVIAT. It took about 2 years for me to feel I could respond to the generosity of her performance and the images I had gathered and shaped in my camera. Sharon Moss and her cats play and dance naked in the snow.
This is the note I found on my windshield after parking in a taxi waiting area on Margaret Island last August. I intend to attach it to the blog entry I made of that experience.
Here is my book entry into the moleskine project. I am doing my book with monsters and guides that are present or created out of music......

Steps leading up to the Lincoln Memorial. I have always wanted to visit these famous steps. The site where MLK delivered his speech in 1963.
Note how the statue talks to the sky.
This is to illustrate the brilliant 18th century architecture by Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel (1677-1723). Many of his structures are now on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Chapel and surrounding structures at Zelená hora definitely deserve it.

Swing + Rhythm ’n’ blues + Jive = Ray Gelato.
Una miscela contagiosa, spettacolare, irresistibile che ha fatto la fortuna del sassofonista e cantante inglese, da tempo amatissimo non solo in patria per la sua simpatia e la sua verve, nonché per esecuzioni musicali impeccabili. Ray Gelato è più di altri colui che ha riscoperto con successo lo spirito più disincantato di tanta musica in voga negli anni Quaranta e Cinquanta: soprattutto dal vivo, lui e la sua band trascinano il pubblico in un sorta di rito collettivo all’insegna del più sano e tonificante divertimento. Merito anche di influenze e canzoni che vanno da Nat King Cole a Frank Sinatra, da Cole Porter a Louis Prima, da Sammy Davis Jr. a Louis Jordan, senza dimenticare capisaldi della tradizione italiana, in special modo partenopea. Nello stile e nell’estetica di Ray Gelato i riferimenti a Buscaglione, Carosone, Rabagliati e Natalino Otto sono infatti evidentissimi. Nel suo repertorio “Tu vuo’ fa l’americano” va quindi a braccetto con “Just A Gigolo”, “O Marie” con “Everybody Loves Somebody”, “Carina” con “I Ain’t Got Nobody”, “That’s Amore” con “Just One of Those Things”. Con Ray Gelato e i suoi “giganti” non c’è dunque timore di annoiarsi: d’altra parte, nel jazz arte e intrattenimento convivono in armonia da sempre.
La carriera di Ray Gelato vede all’attivo numerosi album, sia con questa formazione, sia con i romagnoli Good Fellas. Ultimo in ordine di uscita “Wonderful!”, lavoro che vede grande maturità dell’artista espressa con quel ritmo shuffle che lo rende favorito ad un pubblico estremamente variegato. Come sempre, non prendendosi troppo sul serio, Ray Gelato sarà disponibile a richieste del pubblico, che vede sempre di buon occhio i grandi classici italo americani.
