I just had to post this missed opportunity from a visit to Houmas House Plantation this summer of 2017. I really should have walked back out to the parking lot and got my tripod, or at least shot this at a much higher iso. But it was sooooo hot outside... :(
I have a couple of these on my property, but it's more fun to find one deep in the woods. I posted both of these shots, because they look so different, but are from the same tree.
I had to work yesterday, but at least it made me get up early enough to see this gorgeous sunrise on the way to work!!!!
What this photo doesn't show is all the danged 'skeeters' flying around and in and out of my ears... ;)
I didn't take many shots last year, but I have a few that I need to upload, so bear with me. Most are just random nature shots that I want to keep a record of.
Years ago, I gave up on mowing this boggy area of my yard. When I dug up some invasive yellow irises from my flower beds, I threw (not planted) them back here. Where I put them was out of frame and to the right.
Now, it seems, they are taking over the area and choking the weeds out. It's one of my favorite parts of the yard, especially in the Spring!
AND...I no longer have to mow it... :)
Another photo of...wait for it...Bruin Lake! I didn't mention it before, but Bruin Lake is a horse shoe lake formed when it separated from the Mississippi River. In other words, it used to be a part of the river.
Just so's you'll know... :)
Sorry I haven't been around much. Flickr isn't working for me most of the time, and when it does, it doesn't last long.
I figured I'd post a last shot, till after this hurricane passes through. They're saying to expect 15 to 20 inches of rain, and moderate winds. More than likely, we'll lose power for a while. Life in Louisiana is never dull...
Most everything in the yard has been knocked down by recent freezes, but to my surprise, this daylilly was blooming yesterday!!!!
A very happy red rose just after sunset last night, the soft blue hour complemented the redness of the flower.

It doesn't show in the photo, but this is taken at the edge of a road. The morning light was intriguing and there just happened to be a place to pull over. So I did. This is also where the previous spider web shots were taken.
