Wisteria, just a bit before it's time...

A nostalgic look back at the highlight, for me, of 2016. Bryce Canyon was magical!

Lantana's are a true study of geometry in Nature!

I'm surprised that our squirrels eat any acorns at all, since the wife feeds them a couple or three cups of roasted peanuts every day.

I'm even more surprised that she doesn't have them eating out of her hand by now.

I made an interesting salsa the other day, using some Dragon Fruit which I've never tried before (I couldn't find more than one ripe Mango, so I looked for anything tropical that I could find).

It's strange because, when you cut into it, it's not red like the outside, but white w/tiny black seeds. Also, it's not very sweet, but it actually paired well with the one Mango I could find, and fresh pineapple.

I made this to go over a smoked pork loin... :)

The Kolanchoe is taking this nice Spring-like weather to heart, no matter what the date is... :)

I snapped this selfie over a month ago, but it will serve as my proof of having made it to the ripe old age of 74... :)

btw...I may be old, but I still don't know better...

Taken from under a potted palm plant in strong sunlight and saturated to the utmost!!!!

These vines grow thick in underbrush of Louisiana woods, and make it difficult to walk, unless you are on a well-used trail.

I never really noticed how much the butterflies hang around in the trees. I noticed this one taking refuge during a heavy rain.

In some parts of my yard the grass won't grow, but other things do. I love how natural it is.

I couldn't resist taking at least one 'arty' shot...^+^

Susi und Strolch? .... Bella und Oscar :)

That's where we find Fall color in Southern Louisiana.

One from a couple months back, when the Gerbera's were in their prime.

Have a great Sunday!

Mini bonsai apples, piracanta, kaki fall leaves and two candels. The candle holder to the left is an original antique one in sterling silver dating back to the late 1800.

This new collection of still life photos has been obtained without any artificial lights, only with the help of few candels.

No one had yet cracked Barbaro's secret, even though her first name provided an important clue.

The ball has begun and we're closing our trap

Inwardly we're gathering ourselves

While the dance comes to higher pace

Still nobody can foresee

Joining the circle, in black robes unknown

Unsheathing our swords and get ready to dance

Our hearts are filled with the will to survive

In this last night of their life

It's a murderous, murderous ball night..

Yeah, I'm still rooting through all the shots I took at Lake Bruin. I guess I need to get out more, eh...

Shot in darkness with only the natural dim light of few candles.

Sorry, guys. I just can't quit posting them...

In case you can't tell, I had a really great day at Bryce... :)

Trumpet Vines grows all over in Louisiana, and the bright orange-red flowers really stand out from all the green. As you can see, the buds don't start out red.

A good place to be on a hot Summer's day.

Haven't had time to shoot lately, so this is from back in December.

Ruinen eines Bauernhauses .....

These small bridges along the nature trails are greatly appreciated by old folks like me... ;)

I just discovered (via google) that this variety of Wood Sorrel is on the rare side. I've never known that because it grows so abundantly in Louisiana. A sure sign that Spring is here, even though we usually get a late frost at this time of year.

I found myself staring at this leaf on an old table where I sit when I'm outside watching the hummingbirds, and figured, "if I take a photo, it will last longer..." ;)

Have a great Labor Day, ya'll !

Hope you all have a great 4th of July weekend!

It's shaping up to be a typical Louisiana Christmas...grey, wet, and warm... }=/

You'd think there would be barns galore in Louisiana, and I'm sure there are quite a few, but few in my area that are accessible to photograph. I've had shoots here a couple of times before and decided it was time to revisit on this lovely day.

On this trip, I took along the 14mm super-wide to get a different take on things. This is the first shot, taken from the road as I approached.
