No one had yet cracked Barbaro's secret, even though her first name provided an important clue.

The ball has begun and we're closing our trap
Inwardly we're gathering ourselves
While the dance comes to higher pace
Still nobody can foresee
Joining the circle, in black robes unknown
Unsheathing our swords and get ready to dance
Our hearts are filled with the will to survive
In this last night of their life
It's a murderous, murderous ball night..

In other news, IT'S AMAZING TO FINALLY HAVE A PC THAT WORKS AND CAN RUN SL WITHOUT PROBLEM *removes the dust after 9 months of forced hiatus*
Yeah, I'm still rooting through all the shots I took at Lake Bruin. I guess I need to get out more, eh...
Sorry, guys. I just can't quit posting them...
In case you can't tell, I had a really great day at Bryce... :)
Trumpet Vines grows all over in Louisiana, and the bright orange-red flowers really stand out from all the green. As you can see, the buds don't start out red.
I just discovered (via google) that this variety of Wood Sorrel is on the rare side. I've never known that because it grows so abundantly in Louisiana. A sure sign that Spring is here, even though we usually get a late frost at this time of year.
I found myself staring at this leaf on an old table where I sit when I'm outside watching the hummingbirds, and figured, "if I take a photo, it will last longer..." ;)
Have a great Labor Day, ya'll !
You'd think there would be barns galore in Louisiana, and I'm sure there are quite a few, but few in my area that are accessible to photograph. I've had shoots here a couple of times before and decided it was time to revisit on this lovely day.
On this trip, I took along the 14mm super-wide to get a different take on things. This is the first shot, taken from the road as I approached.

Another take on the drainage ditch, this one showing the mossy banks more clearly. This is such a neat spot, because you don't really see it until you're right on top of it, and then it's a whole different world from the surrounding urban area.
The fallen tree on the beach hints at how relentlessly the cliffs reshape themselves. As wind, rain, and waves gnaw at the soft chalk, whole sections give way and slide toward the sea, eating away the forest on top of the cliffs.
As the morning sun peeked over the tree tops, it was almost too quiet. At that time of the morning, I would have expected birds to be singing, but there were none.

The thick snowfall that covers the village caught us by surprise while sneaking for some very very early presents and voilà! this is Sibéal's first snow! She wouldn't stop giggling and protested every time I tried to shelter inside so we compromise at one of the cosy proches with her completely wrapped in her winter coat yay!

Planispheric Art from stereoscopic photography (from an initial video frame) & digital hand painting. Ref.01. reduc. °°° N. 7 °°° ( 20.10.2020)
I exclusively use my own photos & image creations for my works but I made an exception to tribute the image from wich this one originated as it has been one that particularly impressed & inspired me years ago & cherished to make some more art of it. It now happened.
I have used as a starting point a Maiden Portrait as photographic artwork on spiritual India, author unknown.
Re-elaborated in a repetition fine art image by the Photo Gallery Kemp-(Sweden), it was renamed Troika, from Russian (group of three) made for the production in all possible prints, posters & wallart.
In particular, I used a computer generated image from a video where I stopped a certain frame & rephotographed it in stereoscopy, then I modified the result to correct all the excessive distortions of stereoscopy, then painted on it & finally edited.
Notice added 26.11.2020: I found back the Youtube grand music video (worthwhile a good listening) & the frame, this is it:

LAMIA
In Greek mythology, Lamia was a Queen of Libya who became a child-murdering demon. In later writings she is pluralized into many lamiae (Greek lamiai).Similar in type to other female monsters from Greco-Roman myth, such as the empuses and the mormolyces, she is distinguished from them by her description as half-woman and half-serpent. Her name comes from the "gullet" (Greek: Laimos), since she devoured human children.
Lamia was the daughter of Poseidon and Lybie, a personification of the country of Libya and a queen of Libya herself, whom Zeus loved. Hera discovered the affair and stole away Lamia's children, whereupon Lamia in her grief became a monster and began murdering children. Zeus granted her the power of prophecy as an attempt at appeasement, as well as the related ability to temporarily remove her eyes. Either Hera turned her into a monster, she was transformed by grief over the murder of all her children (except Scylla), or she was already one of Hecate's brood. Plutarch heard that Lamia had the gift to be able to take her eyes out and then put them back in. A later elaboration on this archaic mytheme is that this gift was given by Zeus,[citation needed] and further, that Lamia was cursed with the inability to close her eyes so that she would always obsess over the image of her dead children.

I was walking the yard yesterday and saw my first Tiger Swallowtail of the season. I wish I had had the 100mm macro lens on, but the 70-300 worked well enough.
Have a happy Spring!
Not sure what variety of Sumac our spindly little tree is, but it adds a little splash of color in the yard.
winter sunset with my Tervueren dog Oscar .....
thanks a lot for your kind words .... just now I told Oscar your comments ... thanks from Oscar too :)
Since I'm too busy to go out shooting, I'm perusing the archives again...what the hell happened to me being retired?!
I've stopped at this spot down the road from me to shoot for a few years now. I used to be able to see where a house once stood on this property and there are flowering shrubs that are now growing wild.
A couple of years back, it had a for sale sign up, but it didn't stay up for long. Now I'm noticing signs that someone is keeping it bushhogged and have removed the old pillars and steps that showed where a house once stood.
I fear that some day soon I will go to shoot the pond and there will signs of new construction and, perhaps, barriers to access.
That will be a sad day for me.
Not the first time Phil and I have shot this rustic looking bridge in the New Forest. Really noticing the woodland areas totally muted of colour as we get closer to the end of another long winter. Will be great to see some colour emerging at the start of spring. Lit with the Back Light Scanner and a few rgb panel lights.
