The Lowestoft Lifeboat cruises along the beach at Pakefield in some choppy waters.
The Lifeboat goes out on exercises every other Sunday and it looks like there was someone on the beach exercising too with their dog.
i love it how the department store windows reflect the current mood/season. this window is in a little corner underground in ikebukuro station in tokyo. its is not even the main windows of the store, yet obviously so much trouble to make it look seasonl and inspire you to go inside and buy seasonal products. this window is advertising extravagant boxed lunches/meals for people to take to their hanami (cherry blossom viewing) picnic. also, they are advertising the kimono (& accessories) displayed on the two mannequins.
Slightly less eerie were the pretty groups of Snowdrops in the park. Here is a particularly fine clump of them.
My last shot from my evening trip to Aldeby. The sun had just set & the sky was coloured a very pretty red/orange/pink.
The trees made the perfect contrast for the colour of the sky.
I saw this dog on the beach a few weeks ago & he wasn't too happy about having his photo taken.
When I got another photo of him recently, he didn't object, but that may well have been because he didn't know.
This dogs original appearence can be seen here:
Now for something completely different.....
I recently attended a Burlesque shoot at Earaham Hall organised by the camera club I attend.
This was the scene after all had been prepared - it just needed the model to arrive....
I was at another car show recently. This one was the Gillingham transport fayre.
There was plenty to see as always & one of the first cars to catch my attention was this impressive looking red Mustang.
It's been ages since I got a sunrise - in fact the last time was new years day!
I broke that duck recently when I headed out to catch a summer sunrise. It was a bit more subdued than I was expecting, but it had a striking quality all the same. This was one of the first shots I got when I arrived on the beach.
This is the hut where the lifeguards of Southwold keep a close eye on the beaches.
As it is late autumn the hut was all shut up so there were no David Hasslehoff or Pamela Anderson types around.
It was getting late in the day when I visited Southwold beach. A few large shadows were being cast by a low sun.
These shadows looked particularly striking with this wave break.
I went down to Laguna Seca late last month to check out the Speed Ventures track day and Radical Sports car and EXR races. I took a bunch of photos digitally (to be posted shortly), but also brought along a new-to-me old film SLR; a Nikon F-801s. I thought this was supposed to AF with all of my Nikkor lenses, but it wouldn't work for me; so pardon some missed-focus shots; I had to do it manually. If R1 is in the image name, it was taken on Agfa Photo Vista 200; R2 was Ektar 100. Taken with one of the following lenses:
Nikon 24mm f/1.8G
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II
Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR I
Most of these could be improved in Lightroom or whatever, and I may do that eventually, but I'm posting these raw scans as-is, because that was the point of shooting the film for me, and I'm spending plenty of time in LR for the digital photos anyway. ^_^
After having a walk along the river & being stared at by cattle, I took a trip into the village of Orford.
There were lots of scenic old cottages & houses to see. This white one looked particularly good as I went past due to the contrast with the dark sky.
After a few shots of the outside of the Natural History Museum, I went indoors and got a few shots of the inside.
This was one of the first pictures I got after climbing a staircase in the Museum.
A very striking dead tree I saw on the way to Iken. I have come across this tree before and gave it some more monochrome treatment. This can be seen here

The camera club I attend organised a photo shoot at Earsham Hall recently.
I have been to a couple of these shoots before and they are always enjoyable. There was a steampunk theme to this shoot. A group of 4 people who were Steampunks came along and happily posed in the grounds of Earsham Hall for various shots. Here for all are in their finery posing away.
There is a large hedge near the beach where a lot of sparrows like to congregate.
They always hangout on the top branches though, so they were out of range. WIth the coming of the 300mm lens though all that has changed. I caught this one surveying the scene with the use of my new lens.
This photo was the Lowestoft Journals picture of the week on 18/03/2011
For so long the butt of endless jokes, this Skoda was proudly parked up at the show. By all accounts Skoda's these days are good cars. This one appeared to be from the Skoda 'Heyday' though.
Despite this, I thought it looked quite smart on the day. I couldn't help but wonder though how tired the owners must have been as the ground at Henham was a bit uneven making pushing difficult.
Another entry in my Planes, Trains & Automobiles set:
Southwold is famous for it's beach huts, but these ones on the harbour were more for business than pleasure.
That said though they were still rather striking. Some examples of non working beach huts are here:
