I have passed through this station a lot to get to London, but I have never stopped to get a photo of it.
That changed last weekend when I had a day out in London. I made a point of getting a few photos of the station, especially the area around the large departure board shown here.
My reason for visiting London was to return to the world of the weird & the wonderful in Camden. I also planned to take in some of the buildings in the Square Mile. More on this tomorrow...........
One from the archives here. I took this a couple of years back on the Embankment at London.
I thought it would make a good post today after the sad news about Nelson Mandela.
I always like to try more than one angle for a sunrise. It was a bit risky this time round though, as I nearly got caught by a wave when I was taking this shot.
Despite the fact I live about 5 minutes from the beach, it has been ages since I managed to get a striking sunrise shot.
I headed down early today hoping to break that duck. When I arrived the light was a bit subdued, but it was still worth the early start.
I have still to get a sunrise with the intensity of some of the ones last year, my quest continues..............
For some examples of intense sunrises from last year:

Before I made a sharp exit from the beach, I stopped to get a final batch of photos facing the sea. After I got these, I didn't waste anytime getting home.
One of a group of birds I came across near the river @ Beccles. They were hunkered down to keep warm & most of the time they had their heads tucked inetween their wings. This one came up for some air briefly & I was able to get a shot of him.
The view from the grounds below the old fort at Burgh Castle. As you can see it's not exactly hilly along here.
I did however like the colour contrast between the flowers & grasses & the blue sky.
My trip to London wasn't just about shooting the landmarks.
I wanted to get a few more abstract shots as well. This one was of a big Barclays office in Westminster. I was struck by the design of the building, at least bankers are good for something!
After returning from Tolsta, I wandered into Stornoway. The evening light really made everything look good, especially the harbour area. I particularly liked the reflections of the boats & clouds in the water.
Toward Dunwich, there were several small pools that had formed a short distance from the beach.
There is lots of algae in these pools & the presence of it, makes for some very vivid colours.
The photo shoot with Mac was interupted when he heard some dogs barking down the road.
Only Mac is allowed to bark down our road, so he was most put out & proceeded to have a argument with the noisy dogs a few doors down. Sadly this meant an end to our shoot, but I did get this shot of Mac before he began his argument.
