Originally called Oxheywoode, Spring Wood was owned by monks from Whalley Abbey. It was described as being “one bow shot East of the Abbey” in 1553. We know that the wood contained trees such as hazel and elder, as these are mentioned in a survey from 1528 carried out by the Crown
The night unleashes us.
In the evening glow
we can shed the day's stress
and let loose
through our personal flow.
We can create.
We can move.
We can live in the moment,
or we can plan
for moments to come.

Whorls, loops and lines;
the creator's fingerprints
are plain to see from afar.
But many wander
through the artwork
with nary a glance around.

Another shot from my drive around Amakusa island, off the western coast of Kyushu. Here, the tetorapoddo were crumbling into the sea, giving the feeling of of coming across the ruins of an alien civilization.
So peaceful. The path to Kinder Scout, from Edale in the Peak District, passes through this small woodland area.

This image has been captured at the State Rose Garden, Newtown Park, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
I have been to Toowoomba many many times to see the beautuful Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and also the Japanese Gardens, but I did not know that this rose garden existed until recently. It is a must see in Toowoomba and I was told by the workers there, that the best time for the flowering roses is in October.
Many thanks to all my Flickr photostream followers I have now more than 1.7 million views, thank you. Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it is very much appreciated.

I'm playing with this image in Nik Collection. I took the shot last April, but a friend has asked for a version of this to frame.
You may see a number of options over the next while.
The Scribbly Gum- Eucalyptus haemastoma. Named so due the the markings left on it's bark by insects, looking like a child's scribble.
I took this photo during the 2019 Raptor Fest held at the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Week 6 is Alley and there aren't many proper alleys here in Bedford I have to admit. However, I remembered there's one or two near Castle Road and found this.
It's a bit of a snap to be honest, or at least I feel it is, I've deliberately tried to accentuate the walls narrowing toward the lamp post and beyond and the fact it's a wet day adds some atmosphere with wet surfaces, reflections and threatening cloud from above. Perfect for some monochrome shooting!
Superb waterfall and swim pool on Rydal Beck. The rocks on the waterfall are so smooth that you can actually use it as a waterslide to the pool.

Cette photo provient d'un négatif 4x6, archives de ma grand mère maternelle, et je la date des années 50
This photo comes from a 4x6 negative, from my maternal grandmother's archives, and I date it to the 1950s.
Before you go and decide that this is way overprocessed for a photo, let me state the intent was not for realism, but to use the tools on my computer to create a new image based on the photo. This was processed in Lightroom and Google's Nik Collection to achieve the painted look.
A very unusual day here in Junee, Southern NSW Australia. The fog thinned but persisted the entire day. The sunset was eerie and intense as the temperature dropped to about 7 deg.
Another set for my ongoing project around a group of street performers in my home town that like to play with fire. I hope I was able to capture this lady's grace in these images as her interplay with the fire was entrancing.

Stormy Lake Erie
Just a simple "bird in flight" image made during the gale-force storm that hit the Buffalo area a couple weeks ago. I did a mono & color version and like both well enough to publish. Cheers!

Whistling just past his ear
the hot breath of the orb
spun with intensity and intent.
Whirling through the night
he danced with fire
barefoot on that hot cement.
