#project365 [day 65] the Rink at the Rock
The ice rink at the Rockefeller Center is a New York City Winter tradition. In the heart of Midtown, steps from Times Square and the Theater District. And thankfully it was still going in the end of March for it makes a wonderful focal point for this view of the Rock. In the foreground you can see the back of the statue of Prometheus, probably the most photographed monumental sculpture in all of NYC. Created by Paul Manship, an American sculptor, it has become the main attraction of the Lower Plaza. Behind it there is an inscription, not seen here, that reads: "Prometheus, Teacher in Every Art, Brought the Fire That Hath Proved to the Mortals a Means to Mighty Ends." by Aeschylus a Greek dramatist on the 6th century BC.

The 18 km long bridge across Storebælt (the Great Belt Bridge) links the eastern and western parts of Denmark together.
Dancing through the night
and flying between the light
As she spins, whirls and cavorts
across the stage
The crowd parts
like that was the plan.

She holds his world in the cup of her hand.
Her gravity keeps him circling,
Rising, falling, spinning, burning.

I don't know who came up with the concept of making a wish when we blow the seeds off a dandelion, but even as an adult it's tempting to do so, even though you know you'll be pulling dandelions out of your yard next spring.
Another street image made while wandering the streets of OSJ in Puerto Rico. Image made with my Olympus OM-D e-M1.2 with the m.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 lens (21mm | f5.6 | ISO200 | 1/100). Processed in On1 Photo RAW 19 with a roundtrip to the Nik Analog Efex and Silver Efex Pro.

Early morning shot of the Viso Mozzo (mozzo means cut and in fact it is some 800 meters smaller than the Monviso, which is on the right from this perspective but not visible here). I took this one from Rocce Alte (or Losas) which is the small mountain right in front of the Rifugio Giacoletti (Valle Po).

The road traveled wears heavily on the heart
Of those beasts of burden laboring with the cart.
Miles burned into the past and the slog of hills climbed.
Pulling the burthen of life’s travails down through time.

Rainbow Bee-eater, (Merops ornatus, Meropidae).
The Rainbow Bee-Eater is a spectacular bird. With its green, blue, chestnut and yellow plumage, its slim build, slender curved bill and distinctive streamers that extend from the end of its tail, it is simply beautiful. Bee-Eaters are a familiar sight in many lightly-timbered parts of mainland Australia, where they often perch on fence-posts or overhead wires, then launch after flying insects, flying swiftly, sometimes with rapid twists and turns, before snapping the insect in its bill, and returning to the perch to eat it. (Birdlife Australia).
Captured at Lake Bindegolly National Park, ouyback Queensland, Australia.

51/52
Penultimate week in the group Project 52 - 2017 with a theme of 'Gift'
I thought I'd have a play in Nik Collection to produce something different than my normal style (if I have one!)
I chose Analg Efex Pro 2 and used the filter Classic Camera 7. Back into LR, boosted the red slightly and a left slide of the clarity.....
51 weeks done! Not looking forward to the last one!!!
Art isn't clean
and it isn't clear.
Art isn't easy
and it can be off-kilter.
But the beauty of art
is the gift of the maker.
The joy in art
is how its received by the taker.

With a look that cuts like diamonds,
and a fiery sweep of her hand,
She gathered us all in
with a softly whispered demand.
She told us her quiet story
of love lost, her anger and her pain.
And bitterly learned her lesson
to never love like that again.

Adeniums are commonly known as Desert Roses. The 'desert' part is correct as they come from Africa and the Middle East, but they're certainly not roses. They are commonly known known as Adenium obesium.
To get this image I used focus stacking. It was captured with a Nikon D810 and Nikkor 200mm f/4D AF Micro lens. The focus stacking involved taking many images (52 exposures) each with the adjustable focus rail moved by 1mm for each exposure. The multiple exposures were combined using Affinity Photo software, I am now using this softwawe for nearly all my post processing and it does provide for focus stacking using the "Focus Merge" option. This process of focus stacking is very time consuming but it does allow for an extremely large depth of field. Note that I have plenty of time on my hands now as I am confined to home due to the dreaded virus. This was just an experiment to try out the process.

COVID-19 (CORONA VIRUS)
TO EVERYONE OUT THERE, PLEASE TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE.
With the COVID-19 (coronavirus) now rampant here and in most countries I am spending all my time at home and fortunately have plenty of birds coming to visit due to our bird friendly and flower garden.
