Take a dive in the deep end,
I'll keep a watchful eye over you.
Swimming under the stars
is as safe as can be.
Nevermind the chop,
the turbulence, the changing winds.
I keep a clear eye
on the swimmers in the sea.

Yes we do have quite a few Eastern Water Dragons in our backyard, it is nice to have peaceful visitors. Today we had a very large one and also a smaller one, probably juvenile visiting. This is an image of the smaller one. The larger one was almost 100cm long.
The Eastern Water Dragon (Intellagama lesueurii) is generally about half a metre long with rough scales, sharp spines and ancient features that resemble fairytale dragons. They are grey-brown in colour with black banding, and some have a red belly and chest. Usually a broad black band extends through the eye. A crest of spines runs from the head to the tail.

This is another photo from my Rosolina archive. It was the first and only time I have been at Rosolina Mare (Rosolina at Sea), but I have been lucky enough to have two wonderful sunrise sessions there. The clouds were incessantly shifting, creating complex, fleeting cloudscapes - hills and cliffs, puffy plains and suspended valleys through which flowed rivers of golden light. The rising sun was playing with the clouds, inflaming their deep bowels and eventually piercing their protean bodies with mighty shafts of sunlight that dived into the sea.
The scene was endowed with a sense of sheer majesty and I was barely able to shoot some exposure bracketings as my soul was overflowing with joy and awe. There were no obvious signs of human presence: just that glorious sky, the sea and the beach. And the sensation of a numinous presence - beyond me, beyond the horizon, beyond the sky. So I found myself wondering if, by chance, I was witnessing a new Genesis...
I do not know for sure if that wondrous morning some part of the world was created or reshaped - but I do know that something has been created anew during the few hours I spent in processing this bracketing. Something emerged from that endeavour - yes, to me processing often is an adventure, a travel inside myself through the feelings aroused by the scene at the time of processing and at the time of the capture. And maybe, in the end, this is why I feel that this photo depicts a new Genesis.
As a post-scriptum, I wish to dedicate this shot to Laura G. - not my wife, but a cousin of hers. Come on, Laura... the light will pierce the clouds, and the sun will wash again your days in a golden light!
Laura passed on in March 2020, during the darkest time of the pandemic in Italy, defeated by cancer after a long, strenuous fight. Sadly, we cannot even see her a last time. We love you, Laura...
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.7/0/+1.7 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal" exposure shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
A spring shot of fruit tree blossoms looks amazing in color, of course. But I figured it doesn’t look too bad in sepia monochrome either—what do you think?
Sunday 19.3.2017- no lightning to speak of just a couple of storm cells moving through the Junee Shire NSW Australia, from east to west. Normally tracking west to east.
Another in the flower shots from the big box store visit. Taken with my camera phone and tweaked in Lightroom and Nik Collection.

I had the itch to wander the streets of my city, whether it was raining or not. This image is a handheld HDR made in an area popular with the local photographers, but I felt like trying a different composition with the mistiness caused by the rain.
The Gear: Olympus OM-D e-M1.2 with the m.Zuiko 25mm f1.2 lens. HDR made as 3 shots +/- 1 stop. Base exposure: 25mm | f1.2 | 1/1600th | ISO200.
Post-Processing: Initial RAW processing handled by DxO PhotoLab 4 with a roundtrip to Nik HDR Efex Pro for the exposure blending using the Sinister preset with tweaks. Then pushed to On1 Photo RAW for some additional HDR processing and a managed roundtrip to Nik Silver Efex Pro for the mono conversion and film emulation (Fuji Acros 200). Wrapped it all up with On1 Layers.

While it is not necessarily a macro by the truest definition, this lens lets you get very close to an object (1.5 feet) and still use the zoom function.

Windy day allowed some interesting cloud movement around Haytor on Dartmoor. Long exposure of 25 seconds, tripod weighted down to minimize movement, f/13.0 , ISO 50, focal length 14mm. Processed in LightRoom 6 and Silver EFEX Pro 2
Like a rainbow arcing before a cold front
she lights up the night.
The rhythm & flow of silk
wraps around her with a soft murmur
of life and mystery and love.

Local church processed in Affinity photo, NIK Color Efex and Nik Analog Efex from Leica DNG (raw) file
Then you can brew one of them.
Enjoy your tea or coffee, have a happy (Macro|Monochrome) Monday and a great week.
This was my original edit using Lightroom alone, where the other two versions were based on this one. I played with this one a lot to get what I was going for, while the other versions are the result of clicking on one NIK Collection preset with no tweaking.

From here to there
with a purity in the air,
This open-air waystation
allows a moment of quiet respite.
When time to go
most travelers move slow,
As this vaulted monument
brings awe, architectural delight.
