For Macro Monday's "Relaxation" theme. A really tough one ;-) Three short rubber bands in the moment of transition from being taut to returning to their relaxed state. I'm not really happy with this, and it is the third capture in a row for MMs that involves motion blur, but was even less happy with my other two ideas / shots, so here it is. Ich bin nicht richtig zufrieden damit, aber meine beiden anderen Ideen / Fotos haben mir noch weniger gefallen...

Along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Bridge 160 arches in weathered stone over still water, its reflection soft against the green banks. Wandeling 1105 OUD-VALKENBURG - WIJLRE 13,3 km.
Start in Wijlre.
Tijdens deze heuvelachtige wandeling wandelt u eerst langs het mooie kasteel Schaloen en dan volgt u een mooi pad langs de meanderende Geul naar Schin op Geul. Dan loopt u een mooie stuk door het prachtige Geuldal en via mooi graspad langs de toeristische spoorlijn komt u in Wijlre waar u bij Brasserie Amuseer komt, een mooie pauzeplek met terras. Dan loopt u o. a. langs kasteel Wijlre naar de buurtschap Beertsenhoven. Via mooie stijgende holle veldweg komt u boven op het Plateau van Margraten. Via leuk bos en trappenpad komt u in het mooie rustige Gerendal. Vervolgens loopt u via mooi pad door het Gerendal terug naar Het Valkennest met mooi gelegen terras. U kunt ook starten in Wijlre bij Brasserie Amuseer (punt 4) en dan pauzeren (koffie en vlaai) bij Het Valkennest (geen restaurant).

Trojan Chess?

Royalty, politics, sports, power (stay in or get it), be the winner. People plot intrigues or cheat to achieve their goals and get what they want. Not only people, because science has found numerous examples of tricking or play-acting in the animal world, especially among birds and primates. So it's a universal behaviour pattern.
So how about this little intrigue/cheat: pawnish, lowly "Man, Don't Get Angry" (MDGA) game pieces, entering the royal playing field of the noblest games of all, ready to silently take over the place of the true king, queen, and their acolytes. Man, will they be angry once they realise what just happened. Will they? I'd say, "Power to the People" and game on ;) It's the season of the Pawns. Maybe this is also just another variant of suicide chess (in German, it's Räuberschach, "robbers' chess"), the only chess I ever played successfully.
I was ready to skip. I'm not a huge fan of board games, although I always quite enjoyed Scrabble, Monopoly, and Trivial Pursuit. And of course, we played "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" (MDGA, which was inspired by Ludo and Pachisi) and a game called Malefiz (another descendant of Pachisi) when I was little. "I don't like board games" also means that there are none at home. Other than the very basic compendium of games I bought (you guessed it) for our last "game pieces" theme. It comes with three puzzle-like cardboard game board pieces (one sticks them together like puzzle pieces to get the whole game board – a simplistic game in itself, if you like). One side has a chess board print (used as background), the other the classic MDGA design, and game pieces for the latter and also for checkers. And chess pieces? There are none, which is a bit of a bummer.
None of the components is special in any way, which made me think of either skipping or buying a board game with interesting game pieces (a stupid idea). But then I remembered my old, truly vintage travel/pocket chess. It's a "De La Rue & Cos. Improved Pocket Chess Board With Chess Men Complete". It's foldable like a book, made of very sturdy cardboard, and the game board part has slots under each square where you can put in the cardboard "chess men" for each move. I thought I'd hide the wooden game pieces behind the cardboard chess pieces of the vintage pocket chess: "Trojan horse style". Theme participation ensured, money saved :)
Size info: The wooden MDGA pieces are 2,5 cm/0,98 inches tall, and the entire scene has a width of 6,5 cm/2,55 inches.

A snake? A dragon? Both, I'd say. In a fantasy world, where a year has 13 months, the Dragon Serpent is the 13th zodiac sign, and the element of fire reigns every 13th year.
This Schleich mini figurine came to my rescue when I couldn't make my original idea work. I had ventured out to a nearby toy shop replete with checkout negotiation dramas (boy, about 4: "Look, Dad, look, I absolutely still need this set, it has these special parts. I need it!" Dad, while paying for the baby doll for the boy's toddler sister who was wailing at the top of her voice because the evil lady at the register had "taken away" her new toy: "I. Won't. Buy. You. This. Today. You've. Had. Enough.") and returned home with two (too) large Schleich figures – a huge black T-Rex with an articulating mouth (and a very impressive set of teeth), and a "stone monster" troll figure with arms (and hands) bigger than Hulk's and an articulating mouth as well. With the latter, I had the idea of doing a "stone, paper, scissor" type of image, because paper beats stone ("How to shut up a Troll"). But (not surprisingly) it didn't work within the 3-inch limit even though the stone monster has a fairly small head (compared to its body) that probably contains a brain the size of a speck of dust.
So in the end I used what I already had in one of my many MM boxes. A few years or so ago, I bought a set of these "Schleich Minis", as usual with a possible MM use in mind. They are most likely part of Schleich's "Eldrador" fantasy world that is inhabited by all kinds of gruesome monsters and dragons. Just my type of thing ;)
For this small scene, I put the "dragon serpent" figurine (which is 4,5 cm/1,77 inches long) in front of a necklace that I have already used for two other MM themes ("Copper" from May 2019 and "Pouch" from September 2020, both images are in the first comment), so I knew it would yield some nice background bokeh. I wanted to create something reminiscent of traditional Chinese zodiac design. I made the pendant stand up with the help of a small piece of modeling clay. The first idea was to also drape the serpent in gold chains, but that looked too busy. So I used only the pendant and its chain which I laid out in three straight lines for a harmonious-looking background. The dragon serpent sits on a gold-coloured piece of cardboard that once was part of food packaging. Its uneven surface looks like soft ripples of water which I think looks nice in this setup and adds depth to the image. The final image is a focus stack made of 15 images which I've combined in Helicon Focus (method C, smoothing 5).

As the canal moves toward places like Monton, Worsley, and out into Cheshire, the mood shifts: The towpaths are lined with mature trees, wildflowers, and thick hedgerows. In Worsley, the canal is famous for its "orange" tinted water, caused by iron ore run-off from the old Delph mines.

It's Casio time again :) This is the third time I've photographed this particular watch from Casio's Vintage line for an MM theme. I couldn't shoot the bracelet this time because I'd already done so before, but I always wanted to get extra close to the shiny logo on the watch's face, and now, with the Laowa lens, this was easier (well, sort of) than ever before. The final image is a single shot processed in DXO PL6, Color Efex, and Luminar Neo.
The lettering (0,65 cm / 0,25 inches wide) was printed, or rather embossed, with a silvery, super shiny "ink" so it almost looks like liquid metal (mercury comes to mind). I've always been fascinated by what happens to lettering when photographed with a very shallow depth of field, so this lent itself as one possible choice for our "Bokeh" theme. I also photographed the "Knot of Fate" pendant and necklace/chain (the bokeh classic) which also was part of last week's theme, and an "S-Biner" carabiner hook that had fallen out of my camera's accessory pouch when I changed my cam's battery (speaking about photographing random things for a theme), so, in the end, it was a little difficult to choose – which is why I simply delegated the choice ;)

The ups and downs of the impressive Red Arrows Display Team at Duxford 26th May 2013. The sky was one of those amazing afternoon/evening with wonderful wisps of cloud, then vapour trails of diesel added from the Red Arrows.

Il existe trois sous-espèces de Fous de Bassan (Morus Bassanus) dans le monde : l’une d’elles se trouve le long de la côte sud de l’Afrique, une autre en Tasmanie et en Nouvelle-Zélande, et l’autre dans l’Atlantique Nord.
Le plumage de l’adulte est d’un blanc éblouissant. Une bande étroite de couleur grise encercle les yeux, mais la pointe des ailes est d’un noir de jais. Pendant la saison de nidification, la tête et le cou de l’oiseau prennent une délicate nuance jaune safran. Les yeux sont bleu clair, et le bec est bleu ou gris-bleu.
À l’automne, les jeunes ont le plumage brun rayé et tacheté de blanc. Au fil des saisons, le plumage pâlit; il présente la teinte blanche de l’adulte vers la quatrième ou la cinquième année.

Is it? Yes, at least sometimes :) Because this is a capital B that, methinks, looks like a heart when turned to the left. I assume that the B was designed to look like a heart. The whole logo-lettering says "Bocca" which is a collection of glasses by Paris-based spectacles and frames manufacturer "Face a Face". The lettering is embossed on the specs case and both the case and the (also red) frames that came in the case belong to my mother, magrit k. The temple stems of my mom's glasses have a cute little detail, a pair of small red high heels/pumps on each side. Maybe I should have photographed one of these, but my mom has already done so, and very beautifully, too (you can see her photo in the first comment).
The B is 4 cm/1,5 inches long, so this macro is on the larger side. The image is a focus stack consisting of 15 DNGs that I've combined in Helicon Focus (Method A, Radius 8, Smoothing 6). The yellow highlights were created by using a small gold-coated cardboard "reflector" thingy. I don't use image frames/borders that often anymore but here I thought a small dark-red frame with a thin white highlight looked nice and helped to better define the image with all that red.
